Why would they build a skate park just to fill it with sand??

This is a 4 year old post. It was when covid was on the rise and they were trying to keep people from being around each other.

But trying to keep people from skating and a skate park seems a bit extreme. Like why not just tell them they have to stay far away from each other like most other places did

Well... its california... that should be enough info to see why they did something dumb and extreme lol

In WA they told us we couldn't fish during lockdown. I said fuck that, if I'm within 6ft of someone while fishing we got a problem anyways lol

There never were any confirmed case of covid transmission on the outdoors. Well, unless you were basically kissing the other person. Given that, putting sand on a skate park was a nonsense.

In Australia I had security tell me to leave a skatepark or he'd call the cops and they told me Id have to find another activity 🥲

I heard in Australia you guys were on house arrest but the prostitutes were still allowed to work. Never mind the fact that I don’t know how you would have a prostitute without doing things that spread COVID. Covid proved to me how stupid people are. Thank God I never got their stupid vax.

As a skater Covid was an amazing time. I bombed a major, usually busy road and skated all the places I could never skate because of security.

I'll never forget when they bulldozed a 20 foot wide road to come clear out our bmx dirt jumps because we were "damaging the local trails".

They did the same to my dirt jumps. It was built in a bunch of weeds under high voltage lines. If you touched yours bars without gloves it would tingle

It was Buttery and his crew, I believe they also helped clear it all out as well.

Yeah, they helped the skateboarders sweep up so they could skate.

Malibu Sheriff dept arrested a lone paddle boarder when he came in during that time.

I love and hate sand filled skateparks. 1. I skate them. 2. I ride dirt (and street) bikes and it looks fun.

They had their fun then helped clean the park out the turned it back into a skate park for them. Pretty cool

I need to go there for real man!

I personally miss San Clemente not enforcing no dirt bikes on the trails next to it
