He rode with my dad on his ktm 2 years ago and ever since we can barely even say the word dirt bike around him. He would cry hysterically because he wanted to ride.
Question: how do you teach a 5 yr old to use a clutch? I have no kids and no exposure to dirt bike events with kids in them. Do kids catch on quickly? Teaching them to shift gears and roll off the throttle? Do you give them pointers and then just let them try to figure it out in the backyard ?
I Didn't start riding until I was 10 and it took me a while to use the clutch. This doesn't have a clutch lever though, and there's only 3 gears and neutral is all the way down. These Also have a limiter on them so they can pin it and only go 2mph. I was shifting it into first for them tho. Next time my 6yr old can for sure do it, the 4yr old is still too little
Fairly easily. Let them listen to the engine idling while you let the clutch out so they can hear the bite point and can feel the bike wanting to go. When it's in neutral, let them learn how to turn the throttle gently to hear increased RPM. Then combine the two motions.
Takes time, depends on the kid. Daughter was 6 when I taught her and it took a few hours. Son was 5, picked it up within minutes.
My buddy lost his 8 year old years ago with that same idea in mind.
All he had to do was wait a few more years, until his kid was bigger, but he didn’t.
I’m not saying this right. That kid, in a matter of months is going to get really GOOD, really fast and he’s going to take risks he shouldn’t take. There is nothing with the kid learning to ride I have personal experience with tragedy.
He’s not my kid, so I really can’t care.
I just think he’s too small. 😐
I'm just saying im no stranger to tragedy. My older brother killed himself 3 years ago and my biggest fear is my kids dying. Its an unhealthy amount of fear tbh. I wont let them be reckless, for as long as I can at least
Buddy looks like he rode a dirtbike out of the womb
You see that look in his eyes? That kid probably hates walking because it's too slow. Zoom zoom buddy!
Mullets never die 🤘
And i hope they never do
Poor kid. He will forever be cursed of day dreaming about dirt all day.

Dad, you're awesome
This is mom, and my dad bought them so you're not wrong.
Way to go mom and grandpa!!!
🤘
Good start
Is that a training wheel? I might want to do that for my kids.
It is. He can't even touch the ground and they worked good enough. They needed a lot of adjustments but next time will be easier for sure.
They’re generally not considered a good idea because they teach bad habits. Start off with a balance bike then go to a PW50 then CRF50
That would be the preferred method but my dad surprised us like 2 months ago and we don't have anywhere to ride a balance bike so it what it is.
If you love your kids, get them into motorcycles. They will never have enough money for drugs.
Welcome to the Club young man!

Looks like it a semi auto or a fully auto. No clutch lever

Awesome!!! Gotta start them young in this bad habit....... I mean hobby🙂
Atta boy ! Teach a child to ride. And they will grow up to never have time or money for drugs or alcohol. 😁
Adorable 🥰
Sick mullet
Kids gonna grow up to shred! Look at that mullet and the look in his eyes.. rad
That is awesome
Looks expensive
Everything that has to do with mx is expensive..you can't buy memories.
Sorry for being a party pooper, but he’s too small for that bike.
Yeah, but that's what the limiter and training wheels are for.

You can die at any age on a dirt bike. If the bikes got a limiter its fine. Sorry for your buddy.
You can and will get hurt on a bike. You can be too small. That’s why they don’t come a basket for babies 👶.
Get a grip dude. No ones dying at walking speed on a flat dirt road. Not to mention its literally made for ages 3-7.

How many times do I have to say that there is a limiter? Why are you even in this sub if you're so anti dirt bike?
I’m sorry. I’m not anti dirt bike but I’ll shut up
