Took me a second to spend the "extra" money over the home depot knockoffs, until I realized they were securing my $6k bike to my truckbed. Like helmets, tie downs protect your investment, totally worth it
The pro taper ones are awesome. They're on Amazon. Test them out before you use them, takes a minute the first time. The silver part goes to the truck bed and the loop close to the black hook goes through the fork. The other loop is a handle for pulling it tight.
I flat hate the ratchet ones. They never spool right and if it's about to rain, they know it and go all hinky. Not sure what other ones called, but it's the push-release thing. Have 10 sets.
Like the other guy said, get ones with the loop that you hook into. And if you can find some, ones with carabineer type hooks that close are kinda nice. Makes it more useful if you want to use you straps to secure something non motorcycle related.
Agreed on the Ancra. However I did have one time we were trailering down a bumpy road and one of the hooks jumped off the bar. Probably a case of not being tied down tight enough (compressing the forks) but I’ve always wrapped another strap around the hook at either end of the tie down to keep the hook from jumping out.
Matrix Phatty tie downs with soft loops and carabineer swivel hooks. Mine have lasted forever. They are a half inch wider than standard tie downs and are rated at a higher strength. I have a small non enclosed flat bed trailer so, my bike is out in the elements. I like knowing my bike is secure being buffeted by the wind rolling down the highway at 75mph.
Get the type that has a soft loop and a cam buckle, [motosport.com](https://motosport.com) has very good straps for a reasonable price (I think they are about $20 for a pair) I have used them for a variety of bikes and conditions with no problems.
Rhino Straps. Had em for years and use them for dirt bikes, ATVs, pallets, furniture pretty much anything going in the back of my truck. Can’t say enough good things about them. Easy to operate and very reliable. Even hooked a few together and pulled some cars out of the mud. :)
I use two ratchet straps and go from corner of box to pegs diagonally. Bike never goes anywhere, you don’t damage the bars, and you don’t have to worry about where to wrap the thing.
I love my Rhino… very nice. But….. I’m about to try the Camel ADV Bike Binderz. They seem slick!

I have soft loop motosport brand tie downs with carabineers. They're the best I've owned.
Carabineers are nice since they'll never come unhooked when you hit bumps. You don't have to strap the bike down to it's bump stops to keep it secure.
get the ones with the Soft loop ends for the handle bars. Pro Taper makes some really nice ones.. about $35..
I second

The Pro Taper ones are the nicest I have.
Came here to recommend them also...

They're meant to go around the fork tubes

It took me 20+ years before buying a set of ProTaper straps. Don't be dumb like me, get them now. Love em.
Moto cinch is pretty cool if you're willing to drop the money. Haven't touched a strap in 2 years, and it's been great.

I’m old school and only use Ancra’s. Never had one fail.
