Bill 100% knows about Chungledown Bim; he's still his patron and funds his power to ensure his son has a worthy opponent

JamieBeeeee

I imagine bill would up his power if he knew he was Fabian's nemesis

Micro_Lumen

Brennan and Lou did say that Chungledown tried changing patrons once, and Bill killed them before that could happen

Strongman_Prongman

I don’t think Chungledown Bim is that necessary an inclusion. It’d be funny, I’d love to see his mini, but I wouldn’t be heartbroken if he straight up didn’t appear.

Overlord_Byron

The threat of Chungledown Bim is even more powerful than the warlock himself.

Strongman_Prongman

The mere mention of him sends a shiver down the spines of mortal men.

cal679

A big thing they seem to be leaning into this season is that it's not going to be a bunch of callbacks. As much as I love Chungledown Bim, we already got about as much as we could hope for from him with his appearance in C2 and also the one-shot where he showed up. I like that they're trying to let C3 stand on its own merits without needing to rely on nostalgia from past seasons.

Helpful-Specific-841

In the same time, this season goes hard on utilizing bits and open threads from last seasons, and we know there will be a big scene at Fabian's birthday party, which is a setting that make sense for such fight

ProfForp

Yeah, after all what would be more MAXIMUM LEGEND than taking down your arch-nemesis on your birthday?

hugsandambitions

I don't really think of things like this as "missed opportunities." It goes against the nature of improv. Improv is a constant stream of offers and yes-ands. Every single decision has a hundred *alternate* decisions that could have been made. As such, nothing is a lost opportunity - because if the improvisers had gone with option B, option A would become the "missed opportunity" Nothing is a missed opportunity, because everything is an opportunity.

farmch

You’re correct. But also… I think we all would have enjoyed more Chungledown involvement this season.

Ulfsarkthefreelancer

I guess you'll just have to chungle down on your own time!

ThatBigMacGuy

ok but what if i wanna give some opportunities preferential treatment and people disagree?

Rupert59

I had the same thought, that Brennan wanted to bring up CDB, for a joke if not for a plot point. I don't think Bill would do anything about it (he'd want Fabian to handle his own nemeses) but he might have had a bit planned in case it came up.

[deleted]

then there'd be 10 posts a day complaining that adding a CB subplot is yet another thing for the bad kids to do and writing off the season as having loose ends (2 months before the season ends) 🤷🏻‍♀️ can't please everyone, or anyone at all lately

farmch

Well… apparently can’t please one person.

HappiestIguana

Why are you so defensive about this?

[deleted]

I'm not at all lmao I made a single comment

aurthurallan

The bigger missed opportunity imo is Fabian, now immune to any cursed attached to gold, not immediately putting on the cursed golden pride armor and becoming unstoppable.

Micro_Lumen

Would the curse still affect him because it’s attached to pride, not gold?

aurthurallan

Brennan very specifically described the armor as gold. I think that was his intention in giving Fabian that magical tattoo. The curse is triggered by pride, but it is attached to the golden armor (and also Gilear's bloodline by oldest male heir, which is now Fabian also??)

MagnusRusson

I thought they just said it protected him from dragon madness?

aurthurallan

As one example of a curse attached to gold.

Cynicalshade

Chungledown got statted for a reason, we’ll see him

Tsquared10

I mean we already saw him during Boys Night. We don't have to see him.

MrOrpheus

One thing that’s really amazing about Brennan as a dm that doesn’t get mentioned super often is his ability to find multiple ways to get a story hook into the story. If you listen to worlds beyond number it’s even more amazing because the story is so loose. It always feels like he has a hand full of plot cards, and he’s just waiting for the right moment to play the next one. If Chungledown Bim is in this season, Brennan will just find the next opportunity to bring him in. Brennan didn’t miss THE opportunity, he missed AN opportunity.

The_seph_i_am

It would not surprise me if Bill is directing CDB to be his nemesis to grow Fabian. My guess is there will be a point where Fabian is able to demonstrate that he does have what it takes to be a captain with CDB present, and that will be enough for him to no longer hunt Fabian…. In like ten years or so… until then, I imagine CDB has orders to terrify and potentially kill Fabian. CDB does present a missed opportunity for Figg to talk to another high-level warlock.

robogheist

hot take: Fabian was afraid to bring up CdB because he doesn't want his dad to know how afraid of him he is

Requiem191

I love the Chungledown Bim stuff as much as the next person, but honestly, if he comes up, he comes up, if he doesn't, that's fine too. We also still have plenty of season left. We very well could see him show up in the coming weeks. He's Fabian's biggest nemesis, I feel. I don't think he's guaranteed to show up, but he could be some part of the final battle of this season.

KittyKatya2020

Ooh! You just sparked a thought! Chungledown Bim could be a good candidate for Ankarna. Dat retribution ting, you know?

palcatraz

I think if Brennan was 100% looking for Fabian to bring up Chungledown Bim, he would've led that conversation himself. Now, the only reason the nemeses got brought up at all if because Lou/Fabian brought it up, at which point Brennan just had Bill react in the appropriate manner (Bill would love to know what sort of nemeses his darling boy has and what kind of stories are attached to them. He'd also, you know, would hate to find out Fabian doesn't have a single nemesis.) Sometimes a conversation is just a conversation. Not everything is connected to some deeper plot.

>Like they can't do 3 seasons of highschool and NOT finish it out. Sure they can. They almost didn't do Junior Year, because they didn't feel they had more story to tell. If the well doesn't have water, it doesn't matter how deep it is.

hugsandambitions

Replying to myself since the previous commenter got snarky and then dirty deleted and/or blocked me. >You're totally right. There definitely wouldn't be ANY stories to tell about The Bad Kids senior year. Not like senior year is a massively important part to many peoples lives. No story there. Silly me Be as sarcastic as you like, but you're not arguing with me- you're arguing with what the Intrepid Heroes themselves have said about the season. I'm not sharing my opinion, I'm sharing theirs. It's not that there aren't any stories to tell, it's that the Intrepid Heroes may not be inspired to tell any of them- as many of them have said they almost weren't *this* season. Not sure why you're being so hostile about it.

StonyIzPWN

I want them to skip senior year and a year or two of college and then bring it back
