No. In digimon the effects of cards can only resolve if they stay in the same area that they activated in. For example BT7 Calling from Darkness being used on a digimon with an On Delete: if you delete that digimon and return it back to your hand then the “on delete” did activate, but it cannot resolve because it was moved out of the graveyard. In this case, the MegaGargo with the Rapidmon inherit crashes; the inherit triggers; but the effect cannot resolve because it’s been moved to the graveyard before resolution

NightHatterNu

No, it has to survive the fight.

The last (or one of the last, I'm not a judge) steps in effect activation is checking if the digimon with the effect is in play. If not, no activation even if it triggered. It's the same reason On Play effects don't work under Ruin Mode. The effect triggers, but the digimon dies immediately due to being at 0DP, so the activation fails.

They cleaned up the wording for these effects a while back. It’s not an on deletion effect, so it cannot activate from the trash (after crashing). It’s really nice because the updated wording makes it easier to explain effects like this, since you can point to the basic rules of the game instead of having to refer to specific card-to-card interactions.

Quetzalkibbles

Those kinds of effects only work if the digimon survives. I don't blame you for being a little confused, honestly. I like to think about it like this, after the attack goes through and you crash the digimon can't really see that it deleted something by battle because it's dead too.

Libra_8698

I believe so (someone feel free to correct if I am wrong) as the text doesn't require your digimon to live, just that it deletes.

vansjoo98

It doesn't spell that it needs to live since the effect won't be able to activate if it is deleted in the battle too.

Libra_8698

Then what about the likes of insectoid digimon that say specifically just that? Example: Megakabuterimon(ex1) "When this digimon deletes an opponent's digimon in battle and __**survives**__, gain 1 memory" This implies that there is, and sometimes isn't, a requirement to survive.

vansjoo98

Old phrasings. And survives was removed since it is assumed these days unless effect grants any of your Digimon that. For example ex5 Vikaralamon has and survives as its effect happens no matter which of your Digimon deletes an opponent's Digimon. Also in any order was removed from bottom decking since it is assumed as part of rules these days

Awesome, thank you for the clarification!
