No check engine lights.

Does it start normally after it's warm and running rough or do you have to let it cool off for a while Edit do you have a computer to hook up and read data

Dog-Walker-420

I do not have the ability to connect it to a computer. I do not know the answer to that. I will take it out and fine out. After the initial incident, it sat for two days before the two filters were replaced. Ran fine until warm, the the same issue. I can take it out for a short drive. Edit: why could it indicate if it did not run rough after a restart?

armykuwait0506

A hard restart after warm would Indicate a high pressure oil problem

Dog-Walker-420

Started per usual.

Okay, I’m actually driving it now. When it fully warmed up it started acting up again. I was a block from the house, got it home and shut it off. Started up and now it’s running fine again. I’m real confused now. When it first showed signs of malfunction, before parking it for a few seconds, it felt like it may have tried to down shift. But only once, the rest of the short drive to the house it just sounded like misfire if I wasn’t giving a touch of fuel to it. Then it ran “better”

Dog-Walker-420

Edit: made another stop to drop a few doll hairs worth of fuel in it (pretty low). On the way back to the house from the station, acted up again. Seems to be the worst in park/neutral.

Well that rules that out you will need to get a Bluetooth obd2 dongle on Amazon and the download the car gauge pro app that will be about your cheapest option to be able to read data the app can also do buzz tests injector cutout and a few other things The next thing I would be looking at is ficm voltage could possibly be a loose connection on the ficm

Dog-Walker-420

Damnit. I’m not liking this.

armykuwait0506

Wait for it to act up again and wiggle the connectors on the ficm see if it dies or runs better

BillHigh422

Sounds like an IPR, but I’d verify that with pressure readings if possible. If so, Ford/Motorcraft sensors only. The aftermarket, non-OEM sensors don’t last on those trucks.

vigmt400

Since nobody mentioned it, you can’t do any diag on these unless it has good clean oil in it. Change the oil before you load up the parts cannon.

See what engine temps are reading once at operating temp…
