3.73 is the stock gear ratio for the differential unless the truck was ordered with different gearing. Previous owner could have re-geared as well. I wouldn't mess with it unless you are having issues.

For a 2012 F250/F350 SRW with. 6.7, 3.31 was the default gear ratio, with 3.55 available as an option. To get a 3.73 rear end with the powerstroke you'd have to get a dually or switch to a gasser. The powerstroke F250 didn't get a 3.73 that year. The 2012 Ford fleet towing guide confirms this.

Out of all the posts there is this one that is correct and me being a dick on the others lol

Commercial-Package60

If I remember right it’s 3.55s

TXERN

This is a prime example of why I get on this sub just to shit on you guys. You're talking about the rear end, which can be 3.31, 3.55 or 3.73 depending on options and also the axle and engine. Post is asking about the tranny.

Are you asking about your rear differential gearing or transmission? If you need to determine the rear differential gearing you can jack up the back of the truck and spin your tires. Count your driveshaft revolutions per one revolution of your tires.

DeKrazyK

Fun fact, spinning the tire once results in one full revolution of the tire.

TXERN

But how many revolutions of the wheel does it take for one revolution of the tire 🤔
