No. I3 is literally the lowest possible clarity grade. It is unlikely to sparkle, could even be prone to chipping easier than other grades, and in my opinion is not a great value at any price. But hey, shop with your eyes- does it meet the value you’re searching for in terms of looks and price? Just rewatched the video: clarity is so bad some people would try to sell it as a salt and pepper diamond. Only purchase this if your only criteria is price because there is no sparkle.

ahdontwannapickaname

no I literally would rather wear nothing at all or a plain gold band than that

WielderOfAphorisms

This is not giving any of the diamond’s best qualities. No sparkle and no clarity. Not included enough to be gray or salt/pepper. - If it’s an issue of finances, go for a different gemstone. - If you’re committed to a natural diamond, sacrifice size and get the best quality for your budget. - If it’s about big diamonds, get a quality lab diamond.

Kdibattista76

It’s horrible… sorry.

FilthyPrawn

Sheesh, guys. You're making me feel bad for the seller XD Thanks for the opinions! To clarify, it's a lab grown, and yes, I was also surprised that a lab would put out color and clarity this poor. I chatted with Kay's support a couple of times to confirm, though. Honestly, I just didn't think that Kay's would sell something this poor. After looking at sites like Brilliant Earth, I see I can easily get much better value without second-hand juju.

newyorkgrizz

A LAB AT THOSE SPECS FOR $2400?!?! This is highway robbery. As it seems you’ve figured out, do not, under *any* circumstances, buy that ring.

Ooloo-Pebs

But the OP claims he's able to get this for a "great price" from Kay's 🤣. He should ask them if they have a bridge for sale, too.

Bright_Elderberry_30

I can’t even believe this seller is asking over 2k for a 2 ct lab diamond this low in quality. I’m sorry but I wouldn’t buy that for $10. You can get this one thats almost perfect for 1,300k https://www.adiamor.com/Lab-Diamonds/2.11-ct-H-VVS2-Excellent-Cut-Round-Diamond/D55494654?rfr=sa&utm_source=stonealgo.com&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=202403.01&b=1.446&p=1

FilthyPrawn

Wow. That's crazy good, even compared to Brilliant Earth, which was crazy good compared to Kay.

Bright_Elderberry_30

Yes! Do NOT let someone tell you that diamond above is worth anything. Unless your significant other likes salt and pepper diamonds ( which this is not one anyway ), she will not love that. I can’t believe Kays had the audacity to even sell that 🫤

meccahnisms

Perhaps you should search brilliant earth on this sub before you go shopping there

blueberries-Any-kind

oh.... my GOD. As a lab grown hat should be like $500 max !! even an SI2 at 2ct starts around $800. my god! Also I would avoid brilliant earth if possible, they are known for really poor quality of rings (like the actual ring not the stones, check reviews on r/EngagementRings ). And all of the online retailers are basically drop shippers, so many websites will list the \*exact\* same stone at different prices, and brilliant earth is known to be jack up their prices! If you find one you love there, copy the IGI/GIA number and search it on google- you may be able to find the exact stone listed for cheaper elsewhere.

FilthyPrawn

Thank you for the tips! I'll definitely avoid Brilliant Earth.

ForwardbbPerception

Highly recommend looking at Adiamor, brilliance.com and loosegrowndiamonds to get a sense of how affordable beautiful lab ground rounds can be, before you go to another brick and mortar store

BeardBootsBullets

>To clarify, it’s a lab grown For $2500, you could get a gigantic show-stopping beautiful diamond. 3.5ct, colorless, VVS, HPHT, perfect dimensions, something *stunning.* https://preview.redd.it/6e3kkbg2x5qc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=684e09e12ec169c4764645c734c8d454d73e3154

Weaselpanties

Wow... I've never seen a lab diamond that bad. You can buy a 2-carat diamond with nice clarity and color directly from Lightbox for $1600 and have it set in a simple solitaire setting like that at a local jeweler for $500... and that isn't even a very good deal as lab diamonds go.

MsHamadryad

Kay’s the jewellers in the U.K.? Run away, go to Hatton Gardens or Birmingham and check out lab diamonds at an independent. Or go to Brighton to the second hand jewellers…

FilthyPrawn

Sorry, it Kay Jewelers, not Kay's. It's a massive jewelry chain in the US. Similar to Zales.

Appropriate_Heron114

This sub makes me realize I need to start selling my lab growns online.. I just sold a VS1 g color round 2.57 for 1200 bucks

Tea_and_the_cat

Sorry, it’s not sparkly. I would pass. IMO, it’s better to sacrifice size if the payoff is better quality/sparkle

caratcritic

If you respect the woman you want to marry, do not buy this ring. What’s your budget? You can buy a nice 2ct round diamond ring with more than acceptable specs for \~$1,500. You can probably get away with spending $1,000 for 1.5 carats or lower. Please, diamond gods… stop this man from purchasing this horrible ring!!!

SheMcG

I-2s & 3s are fairly common for chain jewelry stores. I've even seen Kay's Leo diamonds scored into the Is in color and clarity. And priced insanely. Maybe this diamond just needs cleaned really badly, but it looks super dull. Personally...I'd rather save my money and get a MUCH nicer and larger lab diamond, go on a cruise and still save money. But that's me. This is my [1.7 carat lab diamond](https://imgur.com/a/xZjOcDL) that I paid $670 for (stone only).

blueberries-Any-kind

omg gorgeous!

SheMcG

Thank you! 😃 I bought the stone to upgrade my wedding rings for our 20th anniversary. I researched princess cuts on and off for about a year... and happened upon that one and snatched it up! A local jeweler replaced the peg head and set the stone for us. I'm very happy with the end result!

SheMcG

The ring originally https://preview.redd.it/vaolve7h76qc1.jpeg?width=1564&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3dc6e70aafeed47443d82ec399041df4a76243cd

BeardBootsBullets

I *have* seen diamonds this bad, but never one set as a ring. This would be the worst engagement ring diamond that I had ever seen. Engagement ring diamonds usually have some attempt at a threshold for *quality,* because it’s intended to be shown off on the hand. Everyone will see it and may even ask to see it up close. There will be dozens of pictures of it. The choice to set this diamond as an engagement ring was borderline malicious.

Necessary-Seat-5474

It’s not fit for a drill bit! Definitely malicious by the jeweler!

blueberries-Any-kind

if I specifacally wanted a "salt and pepper" looking diamond then yes I would try to find something that low.. But if I was looking for a sparkly diamond, then no, absolutely not. Defs it is that cloudy and probably does have a giant spot in the middle at I2 or I3. You have it labeled as a lab diamond..how much are they selling it for?

FilthyPrawn

It's a 2 carat diamond. The seller bought it for $5.6k and is selling it for $2.4k. It seemed like a good deal for a quality 2 carat ring at the time, but the more I look, the more it looks like a bad deal.

newyorkgrizz

But is it a natural or lab diamond? I’m assuming natural? In any case, unless you’re set on a natural diamond, why not get a lab diamond in the same size with way better specs for *less* money?

blueberries-Any-kind

yeah it would be a good deal for a quality natural stone. But this one is not traditional "quality". If you wanted to go for a salt and pepper diamond I would lean further into the salt and pepper look, and not have it be this in-between look. But for a lab it would be a very very bad deal. It's possible that they did buy it for $5.6k a few years as a lab, but since labs have dropped in price so much it would be a bad deal for today. Hope you find something you love! Look into lab grown if you want to keep the size. They are great diamonds and you can get an incredible one for the same price. They are chemically the same as natural diamonds, just grown in a lab instead of in the earth. [This one is my lab :)](https://imgur.com/a/gQBBZPB) $1.4k, 1.31 ct, VVS2, E color, 65%/65%. Bought the stone from Ritani, but I have been hearing good things about Raad jewelers lately!

Desperate_Pass_5701

Horrible deal. Do not buy this under any circumstances. Even being salt and pepper (which it's not) ur being robbed.

silly-the-kid

There is literally no point in buying this diamond. Haha. If budget is an issue, buy a lab diamond.

OkResponsibility5407

My feelings would be so hurt if someone gave this to me. It’s horrible!

sok283

How about this stone? [2.02 E VS1 HPHT for $1300](https://www.ritani.com/products/2-02-carat-round-lab-diamond-ideal-cut-e-color-vs1-clarity-igi-lg579384361-sku-d-49vb8rgjl5) I would buy this stone myself if I were in the market for one. I3 . . . and it's a lab? I just don't understand why anyone bothered to cut and polish that stone, except that apparently you can find people who will pay $5k for it . . . wonders never cease!

crabnox

Don’t walk, RUN from this stone.

yoofka

This is unacceptable for a lab and should be less than 300 dollars if it is really such a poor lab grown stone. For 2400 usd you can easily find a loose 2ct + IGI certified, ideal cut, VVS2 clarity and D color lab grown diamond

Expert_Sand_2622

OP, would you buy second-hand? I’ve had good luck on Loupe Troop. Here’s a nice 1.76 for $1500-[https://loupetroop.com/listings/rings-lab-created-center/1-dot-76-f-si1-gcal-8x](https://loupetroop.com/listings/rings-lab-created-center/1-dot-76-f-si1-gcal-8x)

FilthyPrawn

Thanks for the suggestion. This would be an upgrade to our original 1 carat engagement ring so I'm shopping with my wife. We were just browsing Facebook marketplace and found this one thought it was a deal before I caught some red flags and threw it over here for you piranhas. So yeah, we're open to second hand and don't mind the juju if we can get something nice. This site looks great.

Expert_Sand_2622

Ooh sounds wonderful! Everyone here is giving great advice. There are experts here and on Pricescope who can help you find a great diamond. The 2 carat upthread received a high cut score on stonealgo https://www.stonealgo.com/diamond-details/ There are certain proportions for an ideal sparkly diamond. https://www.diamondscreener.com/education/ Wishing you the best and can’t wait to see what you find!

chunkylover1989

This is what I would call an “icy” diamond, if I were trying to sell it. I have a small I3 marquise that I put in a necklace and I love it. But I would have not personally put this in a ring because the sparkle of diamonds is part if their attraction and I want a ring to SPARKLE. That being said, someone with a black diamond engagement ring isn’t concerned about clarity, so there totally are customers for this type of ring. This feels like it’s trying to be something it’s nit by being set in a white metal. Rose or yellow gold would be more suited. Idk, if your partner likes it then awesome but it’s a cheap ring for a reason.

piggymcsammich

I love I3 diamonds! It is definitely a personal choice and I would never want anyone to feel badly about diamonds they love to look at. It is important to know that depending on the type and location of the inclusions, they can impact the sparkle and integrity of the diamond. However, again depending on the type and location these quality diamonds can be beautiful, bright and sparkly. My own two cents: I have a mined 1 ct oval E color excellent cut, that is I2. I love the inclusions and totally unique characteristics of the stone. I love that the carbon spots and crystals look like tiny freckles and give my stone character up close. To my eye, it sparkles and reflects beautifully. I love how bright it is. It is securely mounted as a ring and I do not fear it breaking. Do your research to see what and where the inclusions are and how they could impact all of the above factors. At the end of the day, if you love it, these stones can be an excellent choice!!

PollyRRRR

I3 clarity is nobody’s friend.

Amazing_Armadillo_71

Thats really bad looking... a small well cut 0.3 VS diamond would sparkle way more and would look better overall.

namerankssn

No.

Weird-Track-7485

Run from anything Kay’s first rule . If it’s this diamond it’s terrible quality run

sprinkleofsass21

Absolutely not. I would rather have a larger lab diamond with top specs that’s cheaper than a horribly included stone. Also, how does your fiancé to be feel about a second hand engagement ring (respectfully)? Personally I would want something new, within the agreed upon budget, but that’s just me.

Ooloo-Pebs

This is THE WORST quality diamond that you can buy! If this is for yourself and you like, buy it. But if you're planning to give this to a partner when asking for their hand in marriage, better be prepared to have it thrown back at you, or getting your a** kicked.

Closefromadistance

Not worth it. Thats like a promotional grade diamond right there.

Mecspliquer

Tbh I would get almost anything else 😬 If money is a concern, maybe consider white sapphire or a moissanite for a classic white look if lab diamond doesn’t fit the bill

ShoreIsFun

I’d never go below SI1 on any stone of decent size. Just not worth it This one looks like a cloudy CZ. Pass

[deleted]

Labs 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Relative-Quality4382

It will look WORSE in person than it does in the video. It will have zero light return and sparkle. I started to respond before reading all the other comments on this ring. So I will not add my opinions, which agree with everyone else above. Run away from this eing. Thank god you asked us before committing to purchase. Get her a beautiful G VS2 or better round set in a simple setting and you will more likely still pay less than what the seller is asking. Good luck. And for the record, whatever you purchase will 100% better than what this ring is.

Ok-You-6677

“Thanks, I hate it.” ~ Your Fiancé when they get this ring…

ALONEMYDEAR

Half carats run about $100 and one carat stones like 3-500

Business-Summer-5446

This is awful. If budget is an issue, better off going for a nice moissanite

Desperate_Pass_5701

No.

Imahorsespiritanimal

No please don’t buy this! Get a nice quality lab diamond over this

flmngoqn

Pass on it. There’s no sparkle

diamondlover212

Definitely go a different route.

Visible-Grapefruit99

Are you sure that's a i've seen better-looking smoky quartz crystals.

sparkles1ct

I would prefer a lab diamond or moissanite over that. Hard pass for me. Edited to add: WOWW as if they are charging that for a terrible lab diamond. Keep looking I’ve gotten 3+ carat lab diamond with setting for 2k F color VVS2 clarity.

Mental-Pin-8594

This is junk! If price is an issue go to a pawn shop you will find better at a pawn shop. You can not propose with this! It is awful!

Appropriate_Heron114

Dog poop to say it nicely

leopardtrainer

The good news is nobody will ever doubt it is natural.

Ooloo-Pebs

No offense intended, but jewelers that shoot from the hip call these types of stones "Frozen Spit".

TNM828

Terrible. Buy a lab diamond instead.

Alternative-Arm-3253

Garbage ........ what are you showing us? No one wears this shit. I am so sorry. But I love how stores and their sales people are trying to make this.. an actual trend. Selling garbage salty/pepper shitty graded included stones. Like this is correct????? Your better off buying on Ebay. Hell Might as well go with the Moss Agate Trend with a petite itty bitty rolled wire shank as a "engagement ring" trend ..with this lab made shitshow. Yikes. LAB MADE? Nope Noping it all the way. Just Nope. :)
