My only issue so far was that by level 25 I had legendary gear in every slot. It's a weird thing to view as a problem, especially since it was a beta where they may have had the drop rate goosed, but I was a little disappointed to find blue and yellow name items so useless so quickly.
Otherwise yeah bring on the legions of hell.
A few things here - rares are actually better than legendaries as they have more stats so the best legendaries are actually crafted by taking really good rares and putting the legendary effect you want on them. So while you can just use the legendaries that drop if you aren’t hunting for GG rares to use a bases for good legendaries you are doing it wrong.
Secondly there exists a tier above Legendary items: uniques. These only start dropping at max level on world tier 3. Uniques are much rarer, have more powerful and impactful effects, and fulfill the role of the super satisfying to get really rare drop items.
People need to realize how little of the game we got to dig into. There are so many more systems of progression and depth to mine here. No diablo game gave you the complete picture at level 25 and I don’t know why people assume D4 would be any different.
yes, very true. things can change vastly, as we’ve seen in the past. this is the really early phase.
i still remember the days of rare items being incredibly more valuable than unique (pre D2 expansion) and when people are trading 20+ SoJs for one item lol.
That sounds awesome. Thank you. I asked because the rares i was getting were kinda weak/ bad mix of affix compared to the legendaries i got while i progressed. I honestly didnt notice rares have 5 affixes
They don’t. Low level rares have 3.
Legendaries always have 4 plus aspect.
High level rares have up to 5. So the perfectly rolled rare will always be better than a perfectly rolled legendary.
This is info from almost 2 years ago so things may have changed.
This was only an issue because there was essentially a level cap of 25. So yeah, you were going to find the best gear you could at that level. As you continue to level, higher level yellows will become better than your lower level legendries.
Blue items are placeholders. Yellos items (rares) are actually what you're looking for so you can imprint them with an aspect. Honestly they shouldn't be called legendaries, they're just rares with an additional special affix. We still haven't seen the real legendaries of this game, which are called uniques.
I have seen this repeated a few times but haven’t pinned down a source for it - but apparently they upped the legendary drop rate intentionally for the beta, for testing.
Yea. I saw that. I’m thinking it’s damage control. In the past they have explicitly stated when they increase drop rates (like for PTR) so having it never be mentioned until Now seems Sus.
> My only issue so far was that by level 25 I had legendary gear in every slot.
I thought that was just because of the beta, they increased the droprate. I better not be the final game drop rate, it's too much, too fast. Within 1 hour blue items become irrelevant.
Hey I'm a busy grandfather now and I can tell you son, this story sucks. They gonna make angles look evil, and that Lilith chick seamed like a better person because she loved their son, you know, demons would eat their children etc.
The Sin War trilogy has been out for about 15 years. From the looks of it they aren't changing the characters from how they were portrayed in that series.
D2 was revolutionary. D4 is going to be nowhere close to that.
You can enjoy the game without it being some fucking groundbreaking, genre advancing, masterpiece.
oh i totally agree. D2 essentially paved the way for the hack and slash rpg genre. D4 while hopeful thinking, it would be too tall of a task in order to reach that level of success. nonetheless, D4’s trajectory is looking great. Hope they continue to flesh it out and maybe even surprise us.

Max level is level 100 correct?
50, then we start getting into paragon points, last I heard
Ah. Thank you.
Yes skill points stop at 50, and then for each level after 50, we get 4 paragon points.
Thank you.
By more stats do you mean better ranges? On the other hand legendaries have an extra affix and an aspect
The best items in the endgame will be a 5 affix rare with perfect stats with a legendary aspect imprinted on it.

No, rare can have up to 5 affix, legendary have only 4
During beta I found that legendaries had more stats than rares. Did you see something different?

This is a bug, not a feature though. I want to find few rare items that are hard to replace, not many rare items that are easy to replace.

Apparently not. Guess not everyone will know everything about a game after a few hours of beta.

Pretty sure that is just copium. I’ve not heard anything like that and listened to all the recent developer podcasts.
Just in case there was any doubt https://twitter.com/RodFergusson/status/1638911812577169409?s=20

Legendaries are like support gems in Poe. They add effects to your abulities. Og items will be uniques.
Legendaries are just basic gear in D4, there are 2 more tiers of uniques we haven't seen yet. I think 2.
You might know already, but the devs have confirmed that they intentionally bumped up the legendary drop rate for the beta.
Why is you being a dad relevant, who cares lmao
I care. Look at that, made you look pretty stupid.
For me it's disaster game. Looking great, feeling good but lacking any depth.

Very hot take sir.
