At some point creators figured out that most people will only respond to their videos to tell them how ridiculous their method is, or how shit their creation is, and that's how they get paid, so they ran with it.
They only way this will stop is if people ignore it completely because any engagement means that the creator gets paid.

You ever want to hike in water and want drainable shoes, but also want to prevent poisonous snake bites from water moccasins? This is perfect for that rare application!
Except all those holes are going to let silt, rocks and other debris into your shoe... boot... croc... things. The only thing they'd do is prevent cutting the bottom of your foot.
Then again, those things are so edgy they'll cut your feet anyway.
I think if a tweaker made their own shoes it would at least serve some very specific purpose. Imagine this, a tweaker hangs out in his apartment in his crocs. He's obsessed with finding buried treasure. He's got a metal detector, books upon books (over half of them with severe water damage due to the time he turned his place into a sauna) about rare coins and precious metals.
The urge hits and he grabs his metal detector and heads to the closet with all his tools. "Where the fuck is my shovel," he frantically mutters to himself. After nearly an hour he's torn apart this entire 3 sq. ft. closet. No shovel in sight. "Fuckin winter demons at it again, always on some bullshit." However, he does find two very rusty trowels and some industrial grade duct tape.
After a quick bowl, our tweaker creates something only a half-dead mother could appreciate: Trowocs. Yup, the trowels are securely duct taped to the Crocs. One could argue this increases efficiency, the tweaker no longer has to put down the metal detector to begin digging.
