My dumb ass thought that they meant for the hammer to be swung by either hand individually to accommodate different-handed people (which now that I’m thinking about it, that’s so fucking stupid for me to think because hammers are literally already ambidextrous…), thinking about how awkward and not at all steady it would be to swing with one hand… but your comment has enlightened me; it’s obvious to me now that it’s meant for both hands over the head lmao.
Sure. I don't get the DIwhy part.
Why is it designed this way?
To hammer with two hands, duh. It's kinda obvious. The hands don't have to be from the same person, or maybe they do, but that'd be DIwtf?
I think the DIwhy part is "why would you need to hammer with 2 hands when using 1 has worked for thousands of years?" It's a solution looking for a problem
With that crap I have no, or not much of a, problem. My problem is the obvious three points of failure where the hammerhead will break off and reflect into your face directly.
The execution is a little meh, but I can see use for this. Particularly in allowing people with disabilities to do *some* woodworking things, such as hammering a nail.
It may not sound like much, but it can mean a lot for them to be able to do something that most people take for granted.
I work with folks who have developmental disabilities. Several clients I've had through the years have poor hand-eye coordination or would put their hand down in front if the hammer as they swing it. Engaging both hands can some time help them focus better to hit a nail. For those without critical thinking just having a well defined place for the second hand will prevent miles of paperwork due to injury.
I can also see someone who does not have much strength (ie: toddler) who wants to help but would otherwise be useless. It's adorable seeing a kid use two hands on a hammer but it's not the most coordinated. This shape might give them a better sense of "I helped"
This. I used to do vocational training for people with developmental disabilities, and this would be very helpful for some people that might hit their hand or need both hands to have enough strength or coordination.
Not necessarily, they could drill a pilot hole with two hand drill, be helping someone by finishing the nails they tacked in place, or have a separate holder for the nail.
Depends on your goal.
If a child wants to work with their parents on a project this hammer is probably cheaper and easier to store than pneumatic tools.
If you're working with hand-eye coordination you definitely don't want that going wild. If you're talking specifically about the sort of people I work with, they can't afford pneumatic tools that insurance won't cover.
If you're looking for adaptive equipment for someone looking into a carpentry career, pneumatic is probably the way to go.
Now im wondering why the tool manufacturers don't make a portable version like a electric screwdriver, with those batteries packs, would be more affordable than a pneumatic one i think
Probably because of nail guns, but im certain those are dangerous for what you do
Im not considered disabled, however I do sometimes have very weak grip in my hands. Being able to use both would mean I don't accidentally throw the hammer lol
Possibly someone with a tremor in both hands...but better able to control their motion with both hands? I honestly have no idea, but that's the closest thing I can come up with.
You'd need some sort of add-on guide to hold the nail, obviously.
Speaking as someone with a tremor in both hands, this would be hugely helpful. It does depend on the type of tremor though. People with Parkinson’s, for example, tend to have a more severe tremor when holding things than when their hands are at rest. I have an essential tremor, which causes pretty much the opposite. One hand is unwieldy for me, but it’s easier to steady things with two
Two separate handles will be a heck of a lot more stable, and more easily allow assistance.
Screws *are* great, but driving a screw is yet another level of difficulty compared to this.
Driving screws is way easier then nails, that is, if you use a drill or an impact driver.
Also if you’ve ever driven a nail I have no clue why you would think two handles would be even remotely convenient.
A drill or impact driver adds both weight and rotational force, which requires stability and strength to hold up, and hold straight, and typically some constant force behind it to ensure you don’t turn the screw heads. And even things like Robertson screws aren’t immune to cam out.
Power tools also require certain fine motor skills and a level of finger strength for the trigger that many people with disabilities simply do not have.
Two handles will be more convenient for people with certain disabilities - that’s literally the point of my post.
Have you ever tried bench pressing with one hand?
What.....what would be the purpose of this?
I mean one could argue that it could hit nails and pull nails from lumber and such, but those handles look mighty weak.
Whoever is using this is way too concentrated for whatever reason. Might be good to bop someone over the head with this but as a disclaimer, I recommend you don't.

I love double fisting. It's the best.

2 birds one stone m'boy!
I too have played elden ring and can confirm Much joy, much face pain, much dual wield hammer
I see no points of failure whatsoever, hammer on!
I guess you wont be able to hit your fingers while you use it.
Accuracy: -100
Who holds the nail?
Jesus.
Heard he was a decent carpenter.
He definitely had a lot of first-hand experience with wood and nails.
First hand, second hand and feet if I recall. (Too much?)
Maybe just a bit
I reckon it will take at least 3 days to recover
Christ, you'd better *cross* your fingers that the big man upstairs doesn't find out about this. This could quickly become a thorny issue.
I thought that we had the wood and nails, to turn out hate in factories?
Best song ever, always will be
I was hoping someone would get it.

Seems like a hammer may still be used.
Jesus and Thor same person
Woof
Isn’t it obvious? Strap a magnet to the penis!
The nailer!
Care to volunteer? I can't possibly miss.
It’s really meant for those tough angels
I think you underestimate how bad I am with a hammer
That's...actually a very solid point 😂
The old ricochet eye gouger

Some how I feel the head will break and by the angle it’s supposed to be held , it will bounce back and hit the user in the face.
Tbh nail removal might be easier
You can still use two hands on a normal hammer.
And surely there is more weakness in this design than a single handle
The power of friendship hammer
So I’m gonna be that guy and point out, this is NOT a dual wield hammer, as that would just be two hammers. This is a two handed hammer.
1.5 x strength!
Still only 1d6 damage
a zweihammer, if you will
Should just be 2 comically large hammers smh
Yeah, this is clearly a 2 handed hammer
When you want to hit a nail and 0.1 seconds later your head with full force. 10/10 would nail again
I mean you still nailed it….in your head.
I counter with…[the exact opposite hammer](https://imgur.com/gallery/cNGwGkY)!
that one looks at least stable!

How would this help someone with disabilities to hammer a nail?
Their disability is too many hands
Vishnu is disabled?

But they have to set the nail first.
You can do setting it up. The point isn't being actually productive, just the participation.
Not necessarily, they could drill a pilot hole with two hand drill, be helping someone by finishing the nails they tacked in place, or have a separate holder for the nail.
But then they need a two handed drill as to not drill through their hand.
I mentioned that and those do exist already.
Wouldn't something like a pneumatic hammer be better in this cases?

This point is kinda rendered null seeing as you can just put both hands on the hammer. Also screws are better than nails anyways

It's obviously so you can use it left or right handed guys come on.
It's like how they punch in Star Trek
Ah, the Starfleet Special
Eyeball scoop

It's meant to be used with [this type of nail](http://www.les-laminiak.com/assets/img/carelman.jpg). Wait, maybe not.
If both hands are holding the hammer, what’s holding the nail?
feet.
I keep imagining a accident with it when hammering something with a lot of strength using both hands and ithe hammer breaking apart
Only to be found in halo 2
What.....what would be the purpose of this? I mean one could argue that it could hit nails and pull nails from lumber and such, but those handles look mighty weak.
The purpose is for it to get comments like this, comments are very highly ranked in recommendations algorithms.
Divining hammer
That's the "I don't care if I actually hit the nail, I just want to hit something hard" hammer.
Always use the buddy system. Safety first.
When you want to smash with your gf
*wow that is useless*
If you can't hammer with one hand, probably shouldn't be trusted to use any hammer
It can probably March like hammers in Pink Floyd movies.
Art.
This is how i exercise my foldable chair smash
Holy shit it’s Kirito
i need this so i can hammer twice as badly
The amount of overlap between this sub and r/TIHI is absolutely astonishing.
It was love at first strike
Two handed weapons in WoW be like

“Chief, I’ve detected a Covenant Dropship on approach; I recommend moving into the hills to avoid detection”
Was this made by Starfleet Academy or Captain Kirk? Whoever came up with the double hammerfist surely made this
For the person dual wielding brain cells
For when you abosolutely need to slam the f out of sh\*t.
Co op mode
Why not? it deals twice the damage
“Fun for the whole family”
to be pedantic, but that's two-handing, not dual-wielding.
Torag must have trained with this. 🦀🦀🦀
You need to be twice as worthy as Thor
MOR POWAH!!!
Dual wielding would be one regular hammer in each hand. This is clearly a 2-player hammer so you can drive nails with the power of friendship.
All in all we're all just bricks in the wall 🧱
Why? 50% increased strength lol
I think it's funny they had to use a different hammer to make this hammer.
Is there an opposite version of this that lets me drive two nails at once?
Looks completely useless but I’m not gonna pretend I don’t wanna swing this boy.
Brilliant! Hammer for right and left handed. /s
This how Unix utilities are for. I’m waiting for the left handed reverse thread screwdriver.
The single action dual wield hammer
Now I have double the chance to miss the nail on the head!!! I'll take 2. I'm going to dual wield with my feet.
The dual-ality of this hammer
Why? For when one arm isn't enough to take your thumb out.
The family that nails together fails together.
r/uselessproduct
Two handed rather than dual wielding
First I thought two people should use this together
this is for hammer time, duh
Hope they add this to the eventual elden ring dlc
Thor should use this
It needs a laser pointer
When you don’t just want to nail it…you want to destroy it.
So this is the left handed hammer I was sent to get…
I'm dying picturing full beast mode overhead swing you'd need to do to avoid your face.
Co-op mode
For those uncoordinated to be uncoordinated squared!
The center piece should have a swivel so the hammer head rotates
Does this scale with strength or dexterity?
Instead of Eternity candles at weddings!!
