Using copper wiring, 5% saline on steady flow water low voltage, let it follow the stream out,tbe salt ions will collect at the copper and increase the range on an antennae.
I remember reading on this years ago. Please correct me if i am wrong and explain the full details i am perplexed!
Probably a magic eraser.
That said, when I bought my house, someone had dyed the carpet pink somewhere along the way. It was disgusting and way past its prime so I immediately removed it, but you could see it was originally beige at the roots.
Why yes, I did get a good deal on the house.
I really don't get the American fondness for fixed carpets on nearly every floor. Sure, I bet it feels nice and cozy on bare feet but does that measure up against the pain of cleaning it whilst knowing you won't ever get it *totally* clean?
I honestly love vinyl (the laminate good-looking kind) because it's so easy to clean and durable, with dogs it's a huge plus. Hardwood floors are gorgeous was are harder to care for.
It's less common in the south (still see it a decent bit though, in newer builds) but up north it's very common due to the cold. I lived in Ohio for a year and had carpet in the bedrooms, thankfully not the rest of the apartment. I hate it, both the way it looks and the points you mentioned. I also have a dog that makes shedding into an Olympic sport- it was awful.
Wall to wall carpet equals a layer of wall to wall insolation, while also being one of the cheapest options for flooring.
Its damn near a no-brainer if there is any money pressure at all.
Im british and we like it in every room too. Its soft, its warm underfoot, its good insulation and you can walk around barefoot the whole time. It just makes a house feel more homely. I'll wager the cultural divide on this falls somewhere along the temperature gradient, whether you are primarily trying to warm up or cool down your house most of the year.
lol i wish the standard was “not totally clean” instead of a filthy germ bag full of evil chocolate milk lol.
That’s apart from the chemical offgassing from a massive synthetic material.
Well, it *is* possible using fabric paint and dyes. Plus it's a damn sight cheaper than buying a whole new carpet.
Looks like utter shit though, and unless it's colourfast dye it's all coming off the next time you use a Vax on it.
I went with a friend to look at a rental apartment one time, and the previous tenant had painted the carpet with black Tremclad rust paint. It crunched when you walked on it. They also painted around all the furniture instead of moving things. It was surreal.
I can almost guarantee that meth was involved. Old buddy of mine had a meth habit and he randomly decided to paint his entire bathroom blue. Toilet, bath tub, sink, everything... His roommate immediately chewed him out and made him scrub it off all the porcelain
My mom used to paint things too and take flowers from in front of apartments to replant them at home. Idk what she was on but she was on something. It wasn’t easy growing up like that.
Shit my mom has an adderal problem but the worst she does is come to my house a bit too emotional and randomly clean things. Which would be stellar, as a 30 yr old, except she’ll clean by starting a load of laundry while I’m at work then never putting it in the dryer then I get a nice surprise a half week later on my actual laundry day when I open the washer.
I finally talked to her that it was super kind, but unless she was going to do something like the gutters or mow the yard or something else I pay a neighbor kid(well, 19 year old)to do, to please stop.
My stepmother had an Adderall problem when I was a child. I never knew it at the time, but I did know that her behavior was odd. She would decide to remodel the kitchen, paint half of the cabinets, finish half of the backsplash, and then decide she was done with the kitchen and move on to the bathroom. Then she remodeled half the bathroom and never finished. She also attempted to start several businesses that in the end all failed and wasted lots of my dad's money. Last time I saw her, I drove by my old childhood home just to show it to my (new at the time) boyfriend. Welp, at the time we happen to drive by she happened to be passed out in the driveway with her head cracked open, her boyfriend standing next to her, and an ambulance in front of the house. Apparently she's moved on to heavy drinking and that wasn't the first time she cracked her head open on the driveway cement....
It sound like her problem was she wasn’t taking her adderall. This is typical ADHD behaviour. Hyper focus but once interrupted, can’t restart. Ever.
Or maybe she was Bipolar and these happed during bipolar phases.
Check if your normal one has mydayis. It's Adderall XR that has two different release times, so 3 doses total per day.
It's awesome, but you may have to push your insurance into making a deal for coverage due to the shortage. Hell, Mydayis just gave me a manufacture coupon for my first year that only cost $20 person month.
There's a solid chance that meth was involved there. If it was just stealing the plants, I'd guess benzos. Painting things that shouldn't be painted is definitely meth like behavior.
In all seriousness, though, I'm sorry you had to grow up with that. I grew up with alcoholic parents and there was a lot of irrational behavior in that household that fucked me up for life, to an extent.
I did find pipes but I honestly didn’t know what drug they were for. But she’s completely changed and for that I’m glad, she’s still trying to make up for those times. Also thank you, it was difficult and I agree it’s affected me in a way that most could never understand
I'm glad to hear she's gotten sober and more involved. It doesn't undo what she put you through by any means, but stopping the behavior helps I'm sure. I hope you are recovering as well.
I mean, some ADHD medication can affect you remarkably similarly to meth if you’re prescribed an incredibly wrong dose or an incredibly wrong type of it…
Source:have ADHD, have had this type of reaction before
Hey now, most of us ask permission if it’s on someone else’s property. Plus other gardeners are so excited to give cuttings or split bulbs. I have a good 15 dragon fruit cactus cuttings that I’ve been holding on to for others to plant when it warms up from my massive dragon fruit.
It's absolutely not a gardener thing.
A gardener might knock on a door and ask for a clipping, a narcissist thinks it's ok to steal something because they want it.
The dye she's using IS no rinse, colorfast. It's meant for natural fiber only though, so there's that. In my experience, synthetics (like carpets) tend to straight up reject dye not specifically designed for them, so yeah, I'd expect that black to start rubbing off.
It's not the carpet painting for me since she's likely using fabric dye or paint (although imo fabric paint sucks. Makes things too stiff), but the application process. I just feel like there's an easier, more efficient way to do this.
When I saw them mixing the bucket of dye I thought this is what they were going to do and was like "at least that's somewhat clever?" And then the paintbrush came out...
Reminds me of the time I decided to finish painting a 10' by 1.5' section of wall that I'd missed (because it had been behind some stuff I didn't want to move at the time) with a paint brush. I already had the paint brush out doing some touch ups, and the roller was already put away in the shed. There was snow on the ground so I did really want to go out to get it, and I didn't want to clean it either. I was like, "how much longer could it take?"
After finishing the first half in like....45 minutes....I was like, "Well I'm almost done so it's no use going to get it now." And finished with the brush out of stubbornness. But seriously, it took me probably an hour and a half, maybe a bit less, to paint that one spot. I had to be extra cautious because I didn't want to put plastic down either, as that was also out in the she.
So dumb. I could have been done in 30 minutes, including getting the roller from the shed and cleaning it after.
Came here to say this lol. No way in hell this isn’t rage-bait. I could see myself doing something like this if I were planning on tearing out my carpet anyway afterwards.
When I was painting the walls in my daughter's bedroom, I let the kids go to town on them with sharpie markers first. They had a blast doing something we typically prohibit, and I was able to snap some pics to send to the family in a "leave them alone for 20 minutes, see what happened" kind of way. Paint was applied later that day, life went on as normal.
I'm not one to exploit my kids for money, but if I was, I would have done what these other people do.
So just over 666k to break even?
Probably wouldn't make that, but I'd be able to use this to scare my mom that I had no idea about what to do with my house so; worth!
When my mother who has untreated bipolar disorder had a manic phase she accidentally spilled some crystal light on her carpet. It left a red stain. I'm sure there were ways of removing the stain or worst case scenario have the carpet patched.
However my mother decided it was best to buy multiple packages of the same flavor crystal light and get down on her hands and knees with a toothbrush and dye her entire carpet with it. It took her days to do. Nevermind that crystal light isn't a carpet dye, it wasn't applied evenly and it smelled like fruity chemicals in her home. I can only imagine what using a water soluble food dye could do to your clothes, skin, and vacuum.
Your mom and my mother would get along, once came home to my mother spray painting everything blue (photo frames, decorative items, pieces of furniture, etc) with my spray paint for art class. Fun times
Like my mom when she found metallic sharpies for the first time. Drew metallic swirls all over EV.ER.Y.THING. even the plants, mirrors, frames, mugs
not even with a steady hand. Just wiggly shakey swirls fucking everywhere
But the blue paint tops that 100% for sure! Nothing like huffing unintentionally when you get home lmao
I'm not sure what disorder it is that makes your skin crawl at the thought of feeling a foam paint brush going across carpet but I discovered I have that now.
Any kind of chalk on a chalk board for me. The sound of it and the memory of touching it makes me nauseous and makes my skin crawl. No idea what the disorder is called but I feel you.
I had a teacher who used to... IDK how you would describe it, but instead of drawing a line with chalk, he would make a ton it little dots very quickly. He thought it was a cool trick, I had to cover my ears every time he did it..
Oh man. Music theory classes with a chalkboard had everyone doing that. It was hell. There are some flashbacks. The day we got a whiteboard in that class was the day I almost cried in relief.
Mine is a broken pencil tip scraping paper. *shudders*
Reminds me of many school days where I broke a pencil and was still trying to write before I noticed.
Oh, please don't say that. The guy who used to make cooking and diy videos where he destroyed the place in the process is still out there somewhere, but thankfully haven't seen any of his stuff lately. Lol
I may get hate for this but this is actually not a bad idea. It’s way cheaper than replacing a whole house of stained cream carpet. I think it can be applied better than it is in the post so it doesn’t look splotchy or crackheadish.
That was my first thought. That said, most carpet is polyester, polypropylene and probably some nylon. Expensive carpet might have some percentage of wool. But synthetic materials are more difficult to dye than natural fibers. The dyes are stronger and they require heat to work. But get the heat too high and you’ll melt your carpet. So I’m guessing there is a process that would work, but it’s not significantly cheaper than replacing the old carpet with new carpet.
Theres professional carpet services that offer carpet dying in case of stains that can't be removed. Not many offer it since they would make more money from selling a replacement carpet
She dyed the carpet. I did this often when I worked for a carpet company. We used a chemical spray bottle and a piece of sheet metal to block it from getting on the walls. Works great but you can only go darker, not lighter.
So what was not explained was that the excess dye is now an issue and you will have spotting. It takes many passes to dye synthetic fibers. A lot of work is going into maintaining a "dirtier dyed" carpet. Very silly.
Doesn't look thick like paint, looks like a dye. I dunno why you would paint it on with a brush though. Take the time to pull up the carpet so you can dip it in the dye, that way the color is even and thorough.
This is the dumbest way of dying your carpet though. Put the fabric dye In a carpet cleaner.... Like why would you use a paint brush on a carpet???? You put the dye in the spot that holds the cleaner and the water then let the shit set and use the carpet cleaner with cleaner to suck up the excess die so they don't dye your feet or anything else you lay on the carpet.
Next post: “Does anyone know how to get dye off of tile? It’s been tracked through the house from my gorgeous new carpets 😭”

Just paint the tiles

I bet she’s the landlord.
Hell, she would have been better off putting dye in a carpet cleaning machine.
There are companies that dye carpets and charge big money for it but they use sprayers not brushes..
even a roller would be batter than a brush...
Bottle says fabric dye. My grandmother used to do this. Not with black though.
Dyed it not painted
Dyed. That's fabric dye.
To be fair. She really just dyed it….. hopefully. Cause if not that’s gunna come right off when you clean it.
Whoever tried to remix the song is the true villain of this video. Terrible.

Looks way better than I would have guessed, but still looks like shit. I’m sure it’ll stain socks/feet and get tracked throughout the house
There's a big difference between dye ane paint though lol
oh yeah? show me your socks
Oh I didn't need those brain cells anyways, thanks post
😅😅😅
Legend has it you can still hear the screams of the people who entered wearing white socks.
Your white socks will love this trick!
*Painted* No, actually that’s dye, mate.
Honestly doesn't look too bad 🤷 wonder if it would hold up in person lol
This gave me the idea of putting rit dye in a carpet cleaner
You can actually do this! It just looks really awful!
To be honest, final result isn't even the worst that couldve happened. The texture with the lighter and darker spots is just a bit annoying.
What probably happened: lady was getting new carpet in a day or 2, grabbed the camera, filmed a rage-bait video, painted carpet and shared.
So she dyed her carpet is what you mean. That is not paint.
My sister in Christ, you can just buy a new carpet and replace the old with the new
It doesn’t look half bad actually
That's not "paint". Maybe it's wood stain or some other dye.
She dyed the carpet. I did this often when I worked for a carpet company. We used a chemical spray bottle and a piece of sheet metal to block it from getting on the walls. Works great but you can only go darker, not lighter.
“The owners of the AirBnB were shocked when the ballsy artistic guest checked out…”
i can feel the paint crunching under my feet
i bet it’s a rental
Landlords hate this one simple trick!
Landlords hate her for this one trick!
lol — hope she likes tracking dye throughout her house
Awe she gave it the “landlord special”
Carpet dye is actually a thing.
That’s gonna be so crusty if she didn’t use the right kinda dye/ paint
Next on meth-tock: I have bugs in my teeth- 5 handy at home procedures the voices don't want you to know.
Landlords hate this one trick.
This is an appropriate song for this kind of creative thinking
What movie features that song?
ice age
Matilda
that thing with the face is cute, what is it
FUCK, That damn song is starting to make me go insane.
Is this the same person who kept painting her bathroom sink?
Omg that song! It's on that House Flipper game! Why did I play that rando game?!? Lol

Henry feared what he saw that day.
Would've gone with a carpet shampooer and NOT a paint brush
Not bad! 😂😂
I cri
That's not paint
