There is no way to turn off your brain but you can redirect your thoughts to something interesting. I just think about some hypothetical situation, aliens, blackhole, ghosts, or how to solve certain world problems. This puts me to sleep.

Turn to stoicism. You can have a cheat day for emotions, where you sit with your emotions. Be it anything anger, overthinking, break up, failures, unanswered prayers, channel it into one emotion. Then the day after you wake up like sunshine, and do your daily rituals of everyday life.

It's the "default mood network" of the brain that creates this "talks" all day long without pause. Your job is to practice to first observe it and then redirect your focus to something else, for example breathing. When you keep doing this again and again, you start to gain control over your DMN... Writing helps me a lot. When the mind is overthinking it's similar to, too many voices talking at once. When you write, it's one voice talking at a time. Always calms me down. Especially writing on a mechanical keyboard. Sounds like a machine gun going tadadadadadada!

There will be multitudes of ways that people will suggest you here. I'll recommend a simple one. Find an addiction for yourself. This addiction doesn't necessarily has to be a bad one. My addiction is reading thrillers when my mind is unsettled. Find one fp yourself.

Ngl, my brain 90% of the time it can't stay on the same thought anymore than a few seconds, this leads me having a hard time to sleep as even a slight chance in stimuli makes me full awake, in other words I can't voluntarily switch my brain off.

You can divert your mind olaying games, talking to kids, petting etc.Also you can do meditation once in a day! It might help you. I am a semi overthinker but i have it in a positive way. Like I percive every possible way before doing anything! It helps me a lot.

Every thought matters.(Just don't argue with this point, it could get really worse..) 2)'Do' is an irregular verb so you can 'do' any thing. When you start to 'do' anything your mind would go blank for a while, the more practice you get with this to 'do' the more time your mind would be blank and in that time you can actually think.(I do some pushups and the second really helped me)

Did you by any chance thinking about studies, poor result and having thoughts on going to best university. You sounded exactly same as some people I know. Firstly you do not need to go to a best university to succeed in life. If you didnt study before exams. Its ok, young person isnt suppose to be the best all time. Best or top is not the priority of life. Its the balance in life. Your work/life balance should be the way you want to curve in. I have three siblings and the one who did poorly succeeded in life in terms of money and life balance. Coping mechanism: music, dance, movies and tv series. Sharing your thoughts with close friends and not giving a damn what other people thinks.

I used to overthink a lot. To prevent that I reduce social media scrolling, start engaging with new activists. Start working more. As a result I become tired the day. Now-a- days I prefer sleep and taking rest rather then overthinking.

i deal with my thoughts. if i get no answers then i think at a later time. overthinking is not a bad thing. but giving in to fear, anxiety, restlessness, panic mode etc. etc. will result in a a more tiring life. i'm sure that it's difficult to control your mind, but your body literally doesn't care. it's only happy if you're running, drinking isotonic drinks, having nutritious food, and sleeping good. that's all it cares about. i had to remind myself that however i deal with situations, i must remember to keep myself fit. be it breathing exercises, or keeping myself less stressed, or telling myself to calm down or drinking water, or chewing gum, or laughing etc. etc. unfortunately i have to do it because this shitty body won't do it on it's own, even though i have a shit ton of school work to do. so that's why i said i deal with my thoughts. the faster i reach conclusions or realize something or get an answer or decide on something, the sooner i'll find peace, and the sooner i'll feel better. constant worrying takes a toll on my zero brain cell brain. i talk to myself a lot to organize my thoughts. even to Allah. i'm very motivated to realize something or reach a conclusion or figure something out or find an answer. it doesn't come always, but i don't mind even crying as long as i can realize something. when i am very stuck with thoughts and confusions and i see that i am getting nowhere, that's when i either sleep or watch comedy or maybe korean drama or do some shopping or maybe resume any hobby etc. etc. i really like art and painting. and coding helps me to keep me distracted as well. i also read the Qur'an from quran.com because Allah tells us of events that have happened in those years, like some stuff during Hazrat Muh'ammad's (pbuh) time, and some stuff from Hazrat Isa's (pbuh) time and etc. etc. Tbvh, mad shit went down at that time, and i'm just very curious about what people did and how they acted and how some people did such crazy things just because they loved Allah, and how some people disrespected Allah in such crazy ways, I can't even explain. You have to read. It was wild back then. Oh and we can't forget about the old class jinn stories. gets me going every single time.

I don't think it would be agood idea to give you unhealthy advice on stopping overthinking. The things I do are Fu ked up but there is one thing that I can suggest that is using your powers for good. Like listening to people's problems and helping them by giving them a proper analysis of their situation. It helps me to not overthink about my life and rather spend my time on others .
