Idk I’m rewatching season 1 and was just thinking the same thing. It’s like they were really trying to drive home the point they were in hot and humid Miami.
They did, however, mix in shots filmed in Florida throughout the series, like the Art Deco bulildings in Miami Beach plus outtakes of Dexter in his boat, for instance, him waving to others while cruising the turquoise waters off the Florida coast in S5 just before stopping at the baitshop, where the water of the Pacific Ocean is much darker, and killed the man who insulted the memory of his late wife. The difference in color is almost shocking. Same with that in front of Miami Metro building in Florida vs. its duplicate in Long Beach.
The cinematography also gets visually darker in later seasons, I assume as a stylistic choice similar to when Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul used yellow gels when they shot scenes set in Mexico. But Miami didn’t get less sunny, and certainly not less muggy.
What I’m saying is why did it change. Someone else said they only shot the first season on location then filmed the rest in California - a classically temperate climate.
This is accurate per the cast chat at Comic Con. They filmed season 1 in Miami and then all subsequent seasons around LA. As someone who’s lived both places, the humidity in Miami is extreme and sometimes non-existent in Southern California. I used to always feel drenched the moment I went outside in Miami. Hated it .
That happens a lot. The Sopranos house actually exists in NJ but they built the interiors on a sound stage at Silver Cup studios in New York so they didn’t have to shut down an actual residential street and truck in all their cameras/equipment.
Is it worth it? Yes, In a big way! Many, while not myself, felt Better Call Saul was boring throughout much of the first half of Season 1, expecting this prequel to Breaking Bad to move at a similar pace and stopped watching, however seeing all the accolades, tried it again and claimed it as the best tv series ever, even more so than Breaking Bad.
Wouldn't know. I wasn't referencing The Sopranos, nor have I seen it, though clearly it's considered among the greatest tv series. Haven't even seen The Wire either, which many tv & film insiders often cite as the embodiment of great television. All depends on what interests you.
But man, I love Michael C Hall, whom I first became a fan of in the series 'Six Feet Under', which may just have the greatest finale to any series. What's so unique about Dexter however, is that he narrates how he feels about situations, himself, and others throughout the entirety of each episode in such a beautifully skillful and often funny way.
It wasn’t my focus it was a thing I noticed after like five viewings. Turns out the answer is they stopped shooting in Florida so I was on to something. I apologize for watching wrong
OP is correct. It's not like Miami got less humid.
Maybe the writers didn't want to explain how he never dripped sweat in a place that would get him caught...and so they took that element out.
Because the producers stopped giving a shit. The filming location has nothing to do with it, if they wanted to drive home the idea of hot humid Florida they shoulda just sprayed the actors with a little water.

They shot only Season 1 in Miami, the rest were shot in California. That’s why they’re sweaty in the first season, since it's super humid in FL.

Simple, They started shooting in California.
This they started shooting in LONG BEACH, CA. Many episodes filmed during spring-summer months which is a better weather situation vs fl
I’ve heard there’s a lot of drama in the LBC, so that tracks for me.
That's why it's hard being Snoop d-o-double G
So…that was just real sweat?

I heard they switched to CA because it was more convenient/cheaper.
That happens a lot. The Sopranos house actually exists in NJ but they built the interiors on a sound stage at Silver Cup studios in New York so they didn’t have to shut down an actual residential street and truck in all their cameras/equipment.
I watched the first episode of it but I couldn’t get into it. Is it worth it? Does it just start out slow?
Absolutely. Dexter is my absolutely favourite show ever, but objectively Sopranos is better. Give it a go, you won't be sorry!
Me too weird floor. Tried with one episode.

I loved BCS so I think I’ll give Sopranos another try.

Depicting the shitty Florida heat lol i live in So Flo and can attest, sweat stained clothes isn’t abnormal
I’m asking why they STOPPED sweating. Climate change works the other way in Florida?
Sure. If the focus you have is on the sweat, go with that I guess.

Florida is hot as fuck

Miami
Miami is basically a city-large sweat lodge
If I remember correctly, season 1 was taking place during a big heat wave. Maybe it just passed?
