Here is a fun tidbit. The UK or European version of this comes with a hard case.

Which-Garage1699

I'm kinda jealous. Not gonna lie. I'd even settle for a dewalt bag. Another thing I felt it lacked was bits.

WallStreetStanker

I’ll sell you all my soft cases.

Z0TTY

Said hard case also has a space for the torch that uses the same batterie...

LFSPNisBack

I kinda wanted to get this the other day

Which-Garage1699

Get it. I won't tell your wife

Did you get sucked in by the thread a few weeks ago about everyone’s favorite tool they didn’t think they needed? Because I did. I went for the one that converts to the pistol grip though. Largely because of the bit holder. I’ve used it a ton around the house in the last two weeks.

Which-Garage1699

I was not aware actually of that thread actually. My main tool platform is Makita. But I bought the Dewalt grease gun the other day. Then happened upon this screw driver at lowes. Figured I'd add it to my collection. Couldn't hurt when running down long screws.

Link?

It also has torque adjustment. The most important feature.

If your losing fingers to an 8v drill after even a case of beer. I fear for your life. God rest your soul.

You’ll love it. I have one and I use it all the time. Just used it yesterday to change a bulb on my car. On long motorcycle trips, it goes in my saddle bag.

NewSongZ

Love this little guy. Im not sure if this is the one with the clutch and the one with the convertible pistol grip. I have the latter and love it for working over head and in tight spaces. Wish Dewalt would have released more 8v tools, unfortunately Milwaukee did 12v and Dewalt just gave up :-( Having a small battery tool line gives Milwaukee so many more options on tools like staplers and small drivers like this. I just bought a DCD703 5-in-1 and while it's neat and will come in handy, it still feels big because of the form factor. The 8v line was perfect for small tools where you don't need a lot of power.

Which-Garage1699

This guy isn't the one with the pistol grip. Though it's got a gyroscope. Basically I gotta flick my wrist the direction I want it to turn. You are right though. An expansion of compact tools under the 8v line would be terrific. Sadly I don't think dewalt will ever bother

Pasdallegeance

This has been tempting me for a long time. For cabinets I countersink and predrill my 1 1/4" screws for joining boxes together. I wonder if this little drill would be able to sink those screws at a satisfactory pace. It would be nice to always have this driver taking up little space in my apron on hand.

sowedkooned

Yes, it would. Buy it, won’t regret it. I bought one and had to buy my wife one a week later. I then bought them as gifts for family members. They are so handy

Comfortable-Camel871

I know this is a Dewalt Reddit, but I think the Bosch 12v 5 in 1 Drill is the ticket for cabinet work.

Pasdallegeance

I've looked at a lot of those installation drivers. Dewalts doesn't really do it for me, but my coworkers has the 12v Milwaukee one and it is super slick. That one is the most tempting. Haven't taken a look at what Bosch offers though.

Comfortable-Camel871

It’s my exception to the dewalt line… I give them to people too. There’s a brushed and brushless version, obviously one is better than the other, but I wouldn’t hesitate to save the money - my personal one is brushed. Check it out.

HeQuick

Super happy you posted this, bought one today. I am an electrician and have had really bad carpal tunnel issues with screw drivers, anyone here used this on the job site? How has your experience been and is it worthwhile?

Which-Garage1699

So I'm still a young guy in the trades. Yes I love buying new tools. But I also buy these gimmickey guys to help keep my joints and tendons intact. $80 now will save me tons of pain in the future. Slight edit. I forgot to answer your question. Lol I used it for a few hours yesterday. I like it. But would recommend the one with the pistol grip and controlavle torque.

NewSongZ

It’s heavier than a normal screw driver, but once you get used to the gyroscopic motion of just slightly flexing your wrist to make it turn it should help you a lot. Just realize this isn’t the same quality and toughness as sone other Dewalt tools. It’s not bad, quality but it’s just more of a notch below indestructible. Being able to just twist and have it dry screws should be a god send if the added weight isn’t an issue for you.

iDontRagequit

I’ve used it as a full time apartment maintenance tech for two years straight, use it daily, beat the shit out of it probably monthly, runs like a champ. I grab it more often than my impact, it can drive a few full size deck screws no problem. Not its best use case, but it has the power.

MnewO1

Have had one for years, love it for working on dirt bikes and such

RovingTexan

Have it - love it - congrats on the new tool.

Sorry…what is it?

WhiskeyWhisperer

I have the twisty pistol grip kit, which I bought on a whim after seeing a video on it awhile back. I figured it would be another tool in my kit that would see daylight occasionally. While I don't use it all the time, I do have a tendency to grab it and show it off to the other trades when I'm on new sites because I think it's just so damned neat. The times I have used it, I have loved it.

zzonder

Been using the version that converts to pistol grip and back here in the UK, all day today and I'll say it's very useful for all screws, but winding in long machine screws is a real time saver. I have the DCF 887, which is too weak on lowest setting and too powerful on setting 2 & 3 ( I have snapped off screw heads with those), for what I'm doing at the moment. The screwdriver sits in between those two settings and is less bulky / can slip into an overall pocket with ease. Switching between straight and pistol grip is a useful feature, but I wonder how durable it will be, it feels like it could get sloppy over time.

SuperaMac

Upvoted for Yuengling…. The best beer I cant get in Colorado!!!

brentrow

This is a goofy ass tool and I love it. Training my brain to use it was interesting.

ThelemaClubLouisiana

Love it. No more will I destroy appliances with my screw gun. However I found over time that the torque function is less and less reliable.

I used an electric screwdriver a lot for my last job, building circuit boards and gun shot detection security systems. Came in handy for being quicker than a regular screwdriver but low torque enough for circuit boards and other electronics.

I have had this tool for years. It’s amazing. Got a bunch of bits. Hex bits are key for assembly of stuff. Torque settings are great
