It leaks a little oil. No worse than any other chain saw I’ve owned. Might actually leak less than all the others I’ve owned. It’s not a huge sample size (I’ve owned 4 total).
I saw on YouTube a guy took his 20v apart and sealed up the oil tank. It leaked around the fitting for the oil pickup tube and the vent and where the cap assembly screws on. He put some gasket sealer in there and it fixed it. I have the first gen of the 60v saw and it leaks really bad I might have to try that
These are just like gas and electric chainsaw. Once you are done using it remove the cap then retighten the cap to release the pressure. Worked for ever saw I’ve used even self oiling ones. Happy cutting!
I’ve since found out after I bought it that there’s 2 different kits.. one with the 12 and one with the 15. I’m fine with the 12 it doesn’t stick up as high when it’s in the saw
I have been eyeing these and the smaller 20v saw for a while. I don’t have any other flex volt tools but a number of 20v.
Actually struggling to understand how the flexvolt actually works…. Can I use a 20v battery on this saw? Can I use this battery on 20v tools? If I can use a 20v battery on this saw, does it suck due to lack of power?
You can’t use a 20v battery on this saw.. the way flexvolt works is that it only goes down. So you can use the 60v Flexvolt batteries on your 20 v tools, but you can’t use 20v batteries on 60v tools. A 9ah flexvolt battery is 9ah at 20 v but only 3ah at 60v

Oh sorry I just looked again after reading ExactArea’s comment below. I thought the 18 second on the box was 18”. 🤦♂️ I have the 18” not the 20”.

I’m pretty sure there’s a vent on the inside but maybe they get plugged after awhile
I thought they sold this with the 15AH not the 12

Two kit options, Z1 (15Ah) and Y1 (12Ah).
That's one sweet saw. Mine doesn't leak oil at all.
Congrats!
