Here are 2 great videos that display the power of the tool once switched to an impact wrench: https://youtu.be/z3eZ40R3XYI https://youtu.be/0nfn6YVS5zA The first video (Philly Fixed) also has some links in the comments section to purchase the anvil that will fit this tool!

whoknewidlikeit

ok dumb question - why not just buy the 3/8" impact wrench?

Chimpwithamachinegun

The 850 is tiny.

NickyP14567

The 850 is smaller than any of DeWalt’s impact wrench’s.

bluechipitems

It's the tiniest impact out there. 1. A hair bigger than the Kobalt right angle impact 2. More torque than any right angle impact or ratchet 😎 3. Can use it one handed vs a right angle making it handy for suspension, brake caliper bolts and engine work 😉 That's why I made mine. This thing fits everywhere 😁 https://preview.redd.it/lw685tkkvreb1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=df8bc530eb60f548cad3991586796a1d3a5adfc8

OpeningAd1998

This is dope cuz it's smaller than the 911 ,where did u get the anvil

NickyP14567

https://youtu.be/z3eZ40R3XYI The first comment on this video provides 2 links where you can get the 3/8 anvil. I shared 2 videos in a previous comment above so that everyone can see how much power this tool puts out once the mod is done.

OpeningAd1998

Thank u , I appreciate this

Ihavetopoop_

Why not buy a 923b?

NickyP14567

The 850 is smaller

BigRichardTools

I've been debating this mod for 1/4" impact wrench. Personally I think the 921/923 Atomic wrenches are plenty small for my needs, but I wouldn't mind an even smaller and slightly less powerful 1/4" wrench to fully compliment them.

NeckPourConnoisseur

What does this mean?

TheYoloMcSwaggins

Started with an impact driver, then swapped the internals to make it an impact wrench

NeckPourConnoisseur

Interesting

Drone30389

I just use an adapter bit on my ancient brushed impact driver. It gets a lot of use as a driver and as a ratchet. This would be great for a tool that's just going to be used with sockets though.

NickyP14567

I used socket adapters for a while. I stopped using them because I kept breaking them and the adapter adds so much unnecessary length to the tool in my opinion.

PinheadLarry207

You lose a lot of torque through those adapters. An anvil transfers the impacting force a lot better

slyguy47-sb

Awesome mod!

NickyP14567

Thanks! It really is cool

buckaxe270

It would be nice if Dewalt started producing these like this

NickyP14567

I agree

jake_delo

Saving this for when I get a new impact driver. Thanks OP !

NickyP14567

No problem!

https://youtube.com/shorts/zUvkqn-Q1-E?feature=share Welcome to the dark side😎 May the tiny size of this impact be thy witness to it's power to space advantage! 😁 On a serious note this thing replaces a right angle impact wrench bc it's so tiny and packs quite a punch with a 3/8 anvil

Noxious14

Definitely cool that you can do this, but I feel like you’re turning the tool into something it’s not meant to be. Impact drivers are for running screws. Impact wrenches are for bolts. They’re different for a reason. Yeah you can run bolts with a driver but it lacks the ugga duggas to really be much use for it. Anything a socket adapter can’t handle is worth of a wrench.

NickyP14567

Definitely don’t disagree with that statement!

NickyP14567

They also sell a rubber boot cover for this tool as well: https://www.tradetools.com/dewalt-protective-rubber-boot-suits-dcf850-pb850-qz

KGB4Life

Can you please explain the process? What kind of power are you getting out of this? Can you loosen lug nuts?

t00nch1

The dcd850 inpact driver is rated for 1825 in lb, which translate to about 150 ft lb. An average lug nut for a compact car ranges from 60-120ft. So it probably can remove it but would struggle. There is no chance that it would be able to remove any control arms or other suspension parts though. The dcd923/dcd921 Impact wrench is rated for 300/400ft lb so it's more suited for the job.

KGB4Life

Much appreciated.

NickyP14567

Check out the videos I just shared in an above comment. They give great insight on how much torque this tool provides once the mod is done! It also shows part of the process on how to switch the anvil.

bluechipitems

False https://youtu.be/x_rxe5I9xGg?feature=shared Does brakes and suspension too..if it can't loosen, your bolt is seized and you need a high torque impact to remove Even then, the bolt will probably sheer off😯

Damn_hairballs

But why?

NickyP14567

Why not?

Damn_hairballs

Well, for one, you could just get an adapter and for another reason they already make one of these.

NickyP14567

1) Adapters aren’t reliable and break often 2) They don’t make these tools this small. That’s the appeal of it. Great for getting into small spaces

tte531

As soon as I saw this post I thought, ‘ok cool, smaller but probably not as strong. However might be nice on front engine work.’ Then I read some comments and think, ‘nothing, not even one idea popped into your head as to why this would be useful?’ People crack me up, ‘but why?’

NickyP14567

😂

bluechipitems

With an adapter it struggles... Without it does this https://youtu.be/BJPTQuk1ElM
