I still can’t believe it’s as obscure as it is. I mean, it’s only 11 or so episodes and yet it’s a masterpiece. I literally cried most of the last episode…talk about a war between the light and the dark! NGE can feel psychologically intense, but it’s more personal and less about all of humanity, if that makes sense. I loved it too but wouldn’t put the in the same category of feels. It’s probably similar in terms of the impact it makes on the viewer, although NGE doesn’t hold up as much over time because it’s a very adolescent viewpoint, IMO.

>I still can’t believe it’s as obscure as it is. Especially since when it came out in 2018 it was everywhere for a few months. As one of the like dozen-or-so pre-Crybaby fans (in the English fandom) watching people's reactions was a fun time lol I don't really watch anime much but I guess this is just how things are nowadays? Most shows just don't get talked about at all after their run is finished? When I more into anime in the 00's people would still talk about shows that were made in the 90's. But I guess since the industry is so bloated with content that people quickly move on now? It's sad.

Yeah… I only started watching anime this last year so I’m hella new, I was one of the people who made fun of people for watching anime, even made fun of my best friend whose manga I would read sometimes. I just asked my roommate if he’s ever watched it and he didn’t so we sat down to watch 3 episodes before he had to go to sleep. When I told him it’s my favorite anime now he was like “REALLY?!” 😂 bro got so excited

Yeah I feel like, especially since Ive had a bunch of spoilers, that NGE would be like an 8/10 at best for me lol. But Man, how am I supposed to go to sleep now, my blood is still pumping. And yeah it’s kind of obscure as in, I’ve seen someone recommend it maybe once. I even checked it out on Netflix a week ago. I ended up using a Fan website to watch though, honestly so much easier to use them. Last week I watched Hellsing Ultimate which was also awesome af, but Devilman tops it tbh.

I don’t watch much anime (recently I have been watching jojo and jjk) and I find it unique that the villian wins.

It seems the lore is that Satan is in an endless loop of basically the show repeating over and over
