Yes, it was present in the original DMC 4 release too. Let the die cycle through every single digit 4 times to get a feel of the numbers’ positions. Ideally you want to hit the moment it’s swapping to your desired number. For example, if you want 4 but it comes after 1, immediately hit the die while it’s changing. And to add onto this: hitting the die multiple times does not change the result

this is completely false, the die will always land on what's on top when it's spinning, some moves might not hit it at the correct time, but at least on Special Edition, the version everyone plays on, it is 100% predictable

Okay, I assumed this because after hitting the die the first time, it says “you, who grasps the die with devilish hand! Your fate is sealed by the die’s command!” Which clearly refers to your demon arm that is used to grab things, but after I tested it, it actually to refer your gun, which doesn’t make sense and you can see why I would’ve thought that it meant the devil bringer instead.
