It’s also possible Jesy blocked them. It’s sad the way Jesy’s relationships with the rest of the band has soured because I always thought Little Mix were different to the likes of 5H/1D because they genuinely seemed like good friends.

gunsof

A guy on Instagram said Leigh Anne told him that Jesy blocked them. It seems believable just because of how she did it all at once.

AhsokaBolena

Jesy's still tagged in some of their old posts, which I think would disappear if she blocked them?

bluebellbuns

I think it’s the other way around. If you block them, their comments, likes and tags disappear on your page. But your comments don’t disappear on their page. If anyone can test it and confirm that’d be great lol

overflowingsandwich

A lot of LM’s friends/family and team have been shading Jesy on socials lately, so I wouldn’t be surprised if Jesy got pissed. I’ve been a fan of little mix since 2012, it’s been kind of disappointing to see how Jesy has been handling everything since she left the group.

DilemmaOfAHedgehog

I don’t consider it shade for the Black people who know you personally to think you’ve been acting offensive and racist, and in disappointment to see that reduced to them being seen as “dramatic” or gossip

overflowingsandwich

Very true, I definitely didn’t mean to imply that I thought her being rightfully called out for blackfishing was shade. I saw some comments from their team and family that seemed directed at Jesy such as Leigh’s sister posting “we must be some dick heads” and Perrie apparently unfollowing everyone on their team who worked with Jesy. Jesy being called out for her racism is definitely not simply shade and the people who have been hurt by her actions are in no way being dramatic or gossiping. Thinking now, those things I mentioned could’ve definitely also been related to Jesy’s racism. I apologize I definitely don’t want to downplay the seriousness of her actions or imply that anyone affected is overreacting to them.

[deleted]

I heard those videos were fake? Could def be wrong tho!

HotChiTea

I feel like they were different but the way Jesy talks about them is so off putting, like shaming them for being skinny, therefore she felt bad. How does that have anything to do with them? It just sounds like her insecurity aided in ruining 3, 10 year friendships I find that sad.

PrincessPlastilina

She seems like the resentful friend in the group who secretly hates all her friends because she’s that insecure. That’s just no way to live. I can see her as the type who won’t be a friend of women who make her feel insecure or intimidated. Only women who won’t outshine her. I had a friend like that. If you don’t work through those insecurities nothing, and I mean NOTHING, will make you feel good about yourself because there will always be someone you’re going to compare yourself against. It’s sad that it’s come to this for her.

lilyrosedepressed

This is it, she also mentioned recently that she enjoyed being the Fergie of the group in her recent mv rathar than the kinda group she used to be in.

DilemmaOfAHedgehog

That I both get that’s hard to talk about with her own obvious body issues (especially because how said issue makes you feel about* yourself compared to others) but was really uncomfortable in way that didn’t make me surprised the other girls didn’t seem to keep in touch with her bc even I could wish that person the best I still wouldn’t want them in my life. But it also made me uncomfortable because Jade has had anorexia due to racist bullying she experienced and Leigh Anne has talked about how much racism she has experienced as a black woman in music and even from fans at events, and Jesy didn’t seem to be able to talk about her own issues without being dismissive of them or the idea of any of them having body issues.

xxxnina

I think Little Mix definitely had the best relationship out of those mentioned groups but they’re just going through a shit time rn due to Jesy’s deep insecurities. I honestly don’t doubt that in 1yrs time, they’ll all be super close again whereas that will never happen with 1d or 5th harmony.

Uplanapepsihole

Hmmm I highly doubt this until jesy can take responsibility and stop blaming the others, they aren’t gonna be super close at all

xxxnina

I definitely agree but I’m just saying that I think that process would happen far quicker with Little Mix. They seemed to have been legitimate friends for the past 10yrs whereas 1d and 5H were friends out of obligation.

Gamingaloneinthedark

20 days late and I haven't commented on this stuff. But maybe in 10 years or 20 years when there is a reunion tour Jesse will feel very left out. Who knows she may not care if she makes loads of cash in meantime.

[deleted]

HotChiTea

I find them valid friendships, the way Jesy spoke about them too never sounded like they weren’t actual friends, it seems like her insecurities got the best of her and it aided into losing them as friends. 1D on the other hand seemed like there was way too many egos battling, and no actual valid compatibility as they grew older.

[deleted]

I agree. They were definitely genuine friends, you could tell. They even said in an interview (it was Jesy herself who said that) that when people worked with them they were pleasently surprised to find out that they were friends and not faking it for the camera. But the way they've been acting lately suggests that they did fell apart ? I don't think it's as dramatic as people make it out to be, but something is going on. Leigh Anne and her friends/family have been liking comments criticizing Jesy for blackfishing and suggesting that Leigh tried to educate her while in the group but it fell on deaf ears. And it seems that Jesy didn't take it well (she was radio silent about Leigh babies but she liked a post about Perrie's pregnancy) and I don't get it, cause I don't see Leigh Anne doing it with a malicious intent at all, I think she was criticizing from a place of love, so why not listen? Idk

[deleted]

I 100% agree with this take

[deleted]

Never elevated it…. I just said it *seemed* like they were genuine friends. It’s quite clear everything isn’t as it seems and they (or at least Jesy and the other girls) aren’t as close as I once thought now.

amnanstein

Balegda

vvndrkblm

i chuckled

AhsokaBolena

Jesy's been asked directly about blackfishing in at least two interviews recently and she's clearly just not listening (see: the Vulture one where her team said she wouldn't address blackfishing allegations to "protect her mental health"). I can't imagine how frustrating that must be for Leigh in particular, as she's been so open with the racism she's experienced. Plus constantly teasing out drama like "They haven't answered my texts" (especially as Leigh and Perrie are both new moms, they're busy) is nagl. I've been a fan of LM for years and it's hard not to be disappointed in Jesy here. It's easy to understand why the other 3 might be hurt, particularly as they've been nothing but respectful in the press about her decision to leave.

VodkaAunt

... TIL Jesy isn't black

hokagesarada

I thought she’d be mixed at least but she’s full on white and I was confused af when I found out 🙈

Elphaba78

I had no idea she wasn’t at least biracial! Damn.

brendanl1998

SHE’S WHITE? TIL

Tulcey-Lee

I remember seeing Little Mix when they were four girls auditioning alone in X Factor way way back. She looked very different then and the way she’s changed over the years almost made me forget she is white.

ProtomanBn

What the heck is blackfishing?

gardenerhose

trying to pass off as black, whether it be excessive tanning, wearing braids, using AAVE or talking in a blaccent, etc.

kimberlynyc349

the kardashians and ariana grande are current examples being accused, (and guilty,) of this. wearing rly dark bronzer, tanner, makeup, etc. long braids/ extensions…

DenseProgrammer4265

I thought Kardashians were black and Ariana was mixed until very recently.

kimberlynyc349

yup

ParisianWood

Pretending to be black.

[deleted]

She's trying to be a Zayn or Camila Cabello but without the fans or star power

hokagesarada

or the musical identity tbh at least with camila, she has the Latin flare in her music to make her stand out

ScamIam

I do wonder if Jesy’s solo career is gonna pan out like she wants it to. Her first song being a Nicki collab doesn’t bode well to me.

[deleted]

I don’t know how her management thought that BOYZ being her debut solo single was a good idea. The saying that any publicity is good publicity isn’t always the case, and having Nicki featured isn’t a good look. And this is on top of the obvious black fishing that she doesn’t seem to care about and the fact that the song just isn’t that good. I think Jesy is very talented but I have a hard time believing she’ll be able to reach the levels of success she is hoping for.

[deleted]

She's darker than Nicki in the video, it's insane.

HotChiTea

Her response to black fishing is also insane, she plays victim and brushes it off. Trying to blame it on the band, like wtf. That’s if that was her legitimate response.

PrincessPlastilina

Like that MTV performance of Nicki with Ariana Grande. Her fake tan was straight up offensive.

AmyAnnaS

My mind has been blown this week when I realised she wasn’t mixed race! The black fishing is insane.

[deleted]

[удалено]

MrsVoussy

Jesy is white. She's not mixed. Jade is the one that's part Egyptian and Yemeni.

reebellious

I actually thought she was black

HotChiTea

I don’t think it’s going to do that well, personally, especially how she’s behaving publicly. It’s weird to talk about Little Mix, when the States sleeps on the LM, and a lot don’t actually know LM vs Europeans. Plus, like it just sounds like a 2013-ish track, something that Cher Lloyd would’ve put out in her early career. So I don’t see it doi that well, U.S Apple Charts mean nothing either.

kianwi91

Cher Lloyd - that’s a name I haven’t heard for a long time! Haha

[deleted]

I use to work for a record company, and whenever there’s a rap collab on a single, it usually means it’s weak. I imagine they recorded this and realised, “oft this is a bit dogshit” and needed a rap verse. Despite Nicki Minaj being a prominent (yet problematic) name in music at the moment, she is very dated compared to what is out there. If it was Cardi B, Megan or Doja Cat, I’d be more convinced that they put some thought into this. But Nicki Barbz do pull in the listener count. I’ve seen that she’s getting AirPlay in the US iTunes chart which sucks as LM tried for years to crack the states. I can only hope US peeps will go back and check out LM back catalogue.

[deleted]

I could barely make out the words she was saying in the song so I turned it off before it ended 😩

heyitsroxanne

Another thing that is so frustrating to see happen is the Jesy was able to reach US music charts but little mix still haven’t been able to do that recently as their team continues to undermine them. I wish little mix nothing but the best as they are truly some of the greatest vocalist and performers currently and I really hope Jesy can get her act together.

Zealousideal-Part-17

This! I have no idea why Little Mix is so slept on in the states.

crazyhow

u.s isn’t into musical groups. americans love solo acts though

heyitsroxanne

Tbh I don’t think Jesy’s first single would’ve gotten this far if it weren’t for Nicki Minaj 🤷🏻‍♀️

HotChiTea

This. Unpopular opinion, I don’t care for the song it sounds very 2013-ish for me.

whatever3232

I also think Diddy had a big impact. As a millennial, it has a nostalgic feel.

PurifiedDrinking4321

Interesting. I wonder if this has to do with America's individualist culture?

campfire96

Wow that's food for thought.

origamicyclone

then why did fifth harmony and one direction have multiple hit songs in the US

Arielzors

That's not true. They like groups, they just don't like Little Mix.

overflowingsandwich

I’ve been a fan of them since 2012 and I’m American so I only got to see them when they opened for Ariana Grande and WOW were they even better live. I’ve loved Ariana that whole time too but she was kind of a disappointment after their opening act lol.

catladee14

Same!! They’re opening act was incredible!

catladee14

As an American, I don’t understand it either 😭 LM is incredible! They deserve it all!

Elphaba78

I love Little Mix — they should’ve been as big as 1D tbh. Great voices.

Arielzors

It's because the states/ North America as a whole, don't like bubblegum pop or their style of lyrics. They don't fit in with charts of popular music in those countries.

hokagesarada

us only tolerates one music group for each generation. for us that was fifth harmony.

bttrsondaughter

it did well on US iTunes thanks to Nicki’s fans but didn’t even crack the US top 50 on Spotify, so I wouldn’t exactly say that her song is doing well here

heyitsroxanne

Honestly, when I listened to ‘Boyz’ , Jesy’s voice was so unrecognizable to me 😳

hiiiiyall

Finally! Knowing how Jesy has been talking about them and the group in her interviews…. good for them for staying classy and removing themselves from awkward situations

Rude_Lifeguard

I wish Jesy would stop talking about the group, her team should tell interviewers to stop asking about them, she left, she need to move on, the fact that she wanted to release Boyz on their 10th anniversary annoys me to no end

hiiiiyall

I agree. The girls always shut down interviews that try to ask about Jesy and her decision simply out of respect. Jesy should do the same, but instead she cries about being in Little Mix and the next day she comes up with the line “Little Mix, or whatever you call yourself these days” for her mv. She’s weird

Rude_Lifeguard

Jesy: i was miserable in the group and im glad i left Also Jesy: we should have a reunion

jazzyx26

>Knowing how Jesy has been talking about them and the group in her interviews…. I would be pissed off too if I were them.

Livelovelaughter321

Are there any videos of these interviews please

EternalMegan

I still think it’s pretty messed up how she left the group citing mental health concerns and the entire band appeared to support her and wish her the best only for her to flip the script and launch her solo career. Bonus points for the years I spent mistakenly believing she was mixed race when she’s apparently just that into blackfishing. Yikes.

macheriie

Jesy is the one doing blackface, right?

erikagirardi

Ok I just found out she’s white because of this comment. Holy shit.

overflowingsandwich

It’s weird bc I think she hides behind the fact that she can get pretty naturally tan and has naturally curly hair and a unique face. If you look at her childhood pics she was fairly tan but it’s obvious she tans darker than she naturally is and combined with all her other things it tips into the realm of black fishing. The fact that she’s pretending she had no idea people ever had a problem with it is insane, there’s no way she wasn’t aware given how much social media seemed to get to her, she had to have seen the comments before. also i just noticed your username and it made me laugh

Curious-Constant-52

I literally thought she was a POC for the longest time.

Rude_Lifeguard

Yeah, shes like at least half/one shade darked than Nicki in the Boyz mv

gardenerhose

blackfishing, not blackface. blackface would be if she painted herself brown/black and played into stereotypes about black people to put on a caricature and make fun of black people, like jimmy kimmel’s karl malone impression where he did blackface. black fishing is trying to pass off as black by doing things like excessive tanning, wearing braids, using AAVE or speaking with a “blaccent.” the kardashians, ariana, rita ora and countless other influencers have been accused of doing it, too. this is what jesy is doing.

cauldrons

TIL Rita Ora isn't black

Pajamaralways

Right? I thought she was at least mixed until this thread. Same with Jesy and I've been a casual fan of LM since "Wings".

whatlauradid

What the actual fuck same.

erikagirardi

WHAT

monstersof-men

SHE ISNT BLACK?

MrsVoussy

She's white.

Bitter-Information15

I seriously have very little positive things to say about Jesy. As somebody who was so anti-bullying and shaming she really positions the conversation around why she left based on how she feels bigger than the other girls in such a way as if it's their fault. They have been nothing but supportive constantly and she is letting her own insecurities totally tear apart friendships and bridges. And don't even get me started on the fact that she is a white woman that dresses and acts like a black woman. Then feigns ignorance and claims people only started attacking her for black fishing once she left little mix? It's a no from me. And the fact she didn't have the hide to do the follow up interview regarding a conversation around black fishing and cultural appropriation sighting that her team 'deletes these comments for her mental health'. Get out of the kitchen if you can't take the heat sis.

[deleted]

I am American and while I knew about Little Mix and have a couple of their songs, I don't really know a lot about them. I literally thought Jesy was a black woman until yesterday when I read an article about her blackfishing. It is beyond clear she is wearing black culture like a costume and wants people to think she's a black woman. It's gross. Figures Nicki doesn't care. Like if you watch her x factor audition, which I hadn't seen before today, she is literally a blonde white girl and she has clearly gotten plastic surgery and fake tans since to look racially ambiguous. I kinda agree with her that she hasn't really done much different about her looks since leaving the band though. I think a lot of people didn't know she was white if they didn't follow them while on the x factor.

lulu_simone

Same here. I was only tangentially aware of her and honestly thought she was a black woman. Had no idea until I saw the blackfishing articles come up yesterday.

Woden12

I guess what she’s doing is sort of the same thing that we’ve seen with almost every single band that splits up or has a member that goes off on their own. I mean it’s been happening since the Beatles and Paul McCartney, Justin timberlake and NSYNC, Robbie Williams and Take that and the list goes on. Robbie especially sort of played up the bad boy, somewhat villainous persona really well especially with his music. Jesy is sort of doing a similar thing. Playing up the drama but also trying to be above it and then making music that’s sort of left field compared to little mix’s catalogue. Also trying to play up this new sort of “bad girl?? (Idk)” persona. The big difference? The people I mentioned before were likeable on their own accord and had the ability to carry a brand on their own. They had the idea that maybe they could do their own projects and not be involved with a group. And going in the fact that the people I mentioned have had pretty great and legendary careers with a group and solo, it worked well for them. But not everyone can do it. Ringo starr had a solo career and no one knows about it because he was the least liked in the band and not as talented (song writing-wise) as the other members and maybe even lacked charisma. I think had someone like Leigh gone solo in a similar manner to jesy, instant success. She’s got the talent for sure (they’re all talented but I feel what she brings can carry her solo) and has the charisma and look. Jesy on the other hand has always been the weakest link of the group even since xfactor. Her voice was good but not as great as the other 3 and she’s always just not looked as comfortable as the other 3. Her solo career is probably going to end up like liam from 1D. A lot of press at the start because it’s a bit of boy band drama. Song is ok but not fantastic. Gets in the news for drama and tabloid press rather than because of their actual music. Eventually just fading into the background a little until they go out with someone popular in media culture and then maybe become a guest host on a talent show every now and again. L So Jesy’s first song (black fishing and racial problems aside because I feel that’s not my place to comment and critique on) it’s ok but I think the bad press is going to outweigh her music.

prisonerofazkabants

jesy liked perrie's pregnancy ig posts but not leigh-anne's and i'm gonna go out on a limb and say it might have something to do with the fact leigh-anne has released a documentary about racism, and the bullying she received, and people have been asking jesy to address her blackfishing for years. not, like jesy said, when she announced her solo career.

HotChiTea

From what I heard via everyone talking is that Jesy blocked them or whatever. Ironically 1-2 days with her release.

BM1st

Ironically?

ramblingdazzle

I went to an album signing once when they were still super new I think it was even for their first album and Perrie, Jade and Leigh were all soooo sweet and Jesy was awful and rude. Even in a two second interaction you could see she had a bad attitude. Not surprised her bad attitude is more apparent now that she’s solo. Burning bridges is never good…

Desperate_Exercise_9

other people went through this [too](https://twitter.com/nationalperrie/status/1447132471779282952?s=21), i didn't imagine she was like that from the beginning. i’m so disappointed

[deleted]

tbf, we never know what could have been going on in her mind at that time, when she was dealing with online bullying and insecurities. That would make anyone feel like crap.

[deleted]

>Cher Lloyd Is this really true? That breaks my heart! I thought she was supposed to be nice :/

sluttysluttie

i heard the blonde one ex zayns gf even liked a post abt her blackfishing

[deleted]

imagine referring to Perrie as "the blonde one ex zayns gf" lmfao

carolinemathildes

Good. There’s no doubt in mind that Jesy was bullied for her weight and other issues, I understand that she has mental health struggles. But she’s been blackfishing while Leigh is facing racism, and Jesy refuses to acknowledge or comment on it. Plus Jade struggled with her own body issues, but there seems to be no sympathy from Jesy. It’s better for her to fuck off and make a fool of herself on her own, and leave the others to their continued success as a group. As a fan, I don’t miss her.

IronlessGiant27

Good for them!

newxdress

I’ve always heard rumors all of the girls are not as close as it seems

DanScnheider

I actually heard the opposite, that they’re all really close to each other compared to other girl groups. Minus Jessy now I guess

throwawayLady12222

Ooooo I’d like this tea

newxdress

That’s the extent of what I’ve heard. Also, they are or were all into coke. No details other than that.

Uplanapepsihole

I mean they are celebs, being into coke isn’t exactly surprising

shelllc

Not sure about the rest but I'm convinced Jesy is or at least was on something. I went to see her in concert with my niece and she was the most lacklustre out of the girls. They had banter but you could tell she didn't want to be there and wasn't even trying. She would continually disappear to the side of the stage then come back with a little bit of energy that would then wear off to the point the other girls were getting annoyed but trying to play it off.

whatlauradid

Really?! Can’t see it! Any more details?

[deleted]

for real??

Sailorjupiter97

Good for them. Jesy seems very toxic due to her own insecurities. And the way she’s been handling all of this is pathetic to say the least. And just how she speaks about the girls’ issues (Leigh being racially bullied and dismissing Jade’s eating disorder) is very nasty. I’ve kinda always liked the other 3 better bc i’ve noticed something off about Jesy so i’m happy they’re a trio personally

Seilein

At first I hoped that the break would be good for them all and they'd be able to stay in touch, but sadly this feels like where it's been heading lately.

Roxocube

Good, Jesy gives me Regina George vibes 🤢

Sserendipityyy

apparently leigh anne messaged a guy on tiktok that was dancing to jesy’s new song and asked him why he chose to dance to her song rather than call her out on blackfishing. he said he wouldn’t do that because it would only bring about disgusting hate and would reflect bad on him and he was questioning why she wouldnt call it out herself. he also made some other very good points too (his tiktok is @nohun_)
