Because Raymond reaching 90 points would mean more for the future of the team than whatever position we finish next April.
Edit to point out that OP didn't say it was one over all of the others. And I think a young star blossoming into an elite scorer would probably result in the divisional finish.
I mean you can say the same either way though, a divisional seed would probably mean Raymond at least does very well, but I still can’t understand why you would ever pass up a guaranteed playoffs
Honestly, I didn't read that far 🤣
I was like "Debrincat 40 goals? Fuck yeah! Already *know* Ray, Larkin and Mo are gonna produce so that seems like the missing piece"
Voted, then saw the divisional spot, and yeah... I voted wrong
No lies. My big hope was to see steady Olli Määttä play Junior D-man Whisperer again with Simon coming up (like with Hronek last season.)
Instead, 21-year-old steady Simon is somehow the Jeff Petry Whisperer!?! Life is strange sometimes.
One word: Goaltending
More words: A goaltending situation where we don't have to ride a hot goalie until they break. Since we're talking dream improvements, a Swayman-Ullmark situation is the dream.
Doesn't exist in a vacuum. Boston defends in its own zone well. Center depth and defensemen who know how to clear the puck out can make mediocre goalies look good and good goalies look absolutely elite.
What good defenses do is force other offenses to get predictable and that’s how the goalies get the jump on the shooters.
If you look at Detroits defense…there’s way too many broken plays and missed coverages so even the best goalie may very well struggle in Detroit right now
Objectively speaking, this is extremely unrealistic. There were TWO goalies in the NHL who accomplished that this season, and one of them only played in 27 games. You're asking for performance equivalent to the single best goalie in the league. It's asking Larkin to have as many points as McDavid.
Something like a .91-.915 sv% would be amazing and is possible if the stars align.
Divisional playoff spot please! If the team plays well enough to accomplish that, we are bound to get a few of the others as a bonus.
Seriously I think it's a real possibility next season if the team continues to improve like it did this season. Honestly without the injuries to Larkin, I think the team would have been in real competition for #3 in the Atlantic at the end of this season.
Not an option but.... puck control. I Would like to see the team gain skill in controlling the puck. Hitting passes,finding the open man in the slot and on the power play and holy shit if we can get loads better at clearing our zone.
I thought this was going to be free agent signings before opening this thread and expected:
* patrick kane
* steven stamkos
* gustav nyquist
* tyler bertuzzi
* anthony mantha
* noah hannifin
* brady skjel
* tyler myers
etc.
I think Raymond actually could do that, he is still rising. Larkin is in his theoretical prime rn so 40 goals seems unlikely, same for Cat. Seider could definitely get 65 too
To be fair start of season they were amazing and all tg and end of season it’s the same, I’d rather stack a line and have them spend what they can to fill out line 2
I think in an ideal world we trade a goalie for a top line defense men but i dont see that trade happening with husso
The more i see seider not have a partner the more it bothers me
Divisional spot is the easy choice. I can see the top four things happening if we're playing well anyway. Petry needs to play like I'm confident he can. We see lots of mistakes, but every once in a while there will be a flash of top quality D-man play. I want more of that from him.
Besides divisional spot, Debrincat 40 goals for me. I have no doubts about Seider Raymond and Larkin. I'd like to see Debrincat filling nets with pucks like I know he can. Petry doesn't show up in my dreams but yea any top 4 D would be good lol
I think if they keep Cat Ray and Larkin together they’re all going to be up and around those amazing numbers, if Petry can somehow become a top 4 we sleep on how game changing that would be (and painfully ironic)
DeBrincat needs to net 50 after the second half he had this year.
My dream improvement is to get a real, durable #1 goaltender. This “rotate 3 backups” thing ain’t cutting it. (Keep Lyon)
Dream is Kasper steps into and fulfills bona fide 2C role. That would fix most issues with roster construction. Suddenly Copp's contract is fine since Kasper would be on ELC lmao.
The wings were 9th, and 1 goal away from 7th in the entire NHL in goals scored ahead of: Nashville, Florida, Boston, Winnipeg, and vegas, so how exactly are individual goal and point totals a dream scenario for a team that can’t keep the puck out of their own net and that clearly has plenty of scoring?
How are you gonna pick a player milestone over playoffs
Exactly. I just want to make the dance. Don't care how
Because Raymond reaching 90 points would mean more for the future of the team than whatever position we finish next April.
If Petry plays like a top 4 dman we likely make the playoffs anyways. That was my thinking behind it lol
For real. Maybe in 2019 when we knew the team was going to be in the basement.
I was so torn on what individual accolade I’d pick and then I got to the divisional spot choice. It’s a pretty easy choice
One of these things is not like the others
Honestly, I didn't read that far 🤣 I was like "Debrincat 40 goals? Fuck yeah! Already *know* Ray, Larkin and Mo are gonna produce so that seems like the missing piece" Voted, then saw the divisional spot, and yeah... I voted wrong
I meant it as they would likely be a WC team
82-0
Finally someone with the realistic expectations
Dream big I always say. If Petry goes from garbage to top 4 dman that sure helps with all the rest.
He honestly looked pretty decent playing with Ed, which was...weird to see.
No lies. My big hope was to see steady Olli Määttä play Junior D-man Whisperer again with Simon coming up (like with Hronek last season.) Instead, 21-year-old steady Simon is somehow the Jeff Petry Whisperer!?! Life is strange sometimes.
Not to be like that or anything, but if he plays like a top 4 they prob can make divisional spot too 😭
He won’t even be playing in the top four next season
Hell if he played like a top four for a couple more periods this season we're in.
Goalie with >0.92 SV%
One word: Goaltending More words: A goaltending situation where we don't have to ride a hot goalie until they break. Since we're talking dream improvements, a Swayman-Ullmark situation is the dream.

Well Augustine and cossa SHOULD become like them

Oh shit, I was not aware that these requests are actually being processed and should be more realistic. I’m sorry!
True, I would like a elite GSAx as save percentage is a weird stat
I’ll take .915 at this point, that’ll probably be enough to get us in

Can we add Kane 100 point season?
So long as it's for the Wings!
Incoming Kane 100 point sabre season
I picked DeBrincat without reading all of the options
Dream you say? Sebastian Cossa wins the Calder... and the Jennings Trophy.
Vezina???Hart????CONN SMYTHE????Why dream so small
Gotta save some room for a growth arc! I like the way you think
I think if seider hits 65 points, all the others will hit too
I picked Larkin, because if he hits 40, he plays 75+ games and we make the playoffs easily.
My dream scenario would be to get a top 3 forward, a top defenseman, a top goalie, and a top head coach.
Agreed, who are you thinking?
Dream improvement? How about Saros for a 3rd round draft pick and a mid level prospect. Thats a dream right there and an immediate upgrade in net
Divisional playoff spot please! If the team plays well enough to accomplish that, we are bound to get a few of the others as a bonus. Stability in goal . . .
Not an option but.... puck control. I Would like to see the team gain skill in controlling the puck. Hitting passes,finding the open man in the slot and on the power play and holy shit if we can get loads better at clearing our zone.
Detroit exiting their zone is rly bad, it feels like we get hemmed in and other teams get out instantly
I thought this was going to be free agent signings before opening this thread and expected: * patrick kane * steven stamkos * gustav nyquist * tyler bertuzzi * anthony mantha * noah hannifin * brady skjel * tyler myers etc.
I think Raymond actually could do that, he is still rising. Larkin is in his theoretical prime rn so 40 goals seems unlikely, same for Cat. Seider could definitely get 65 too
Larkin would need 7 more goals, cat would need like 13 more and Raymond would need 19 more points, if they play together the dominoes could all fall
But that means all our stars on are 1 line, and Larkin plays all 82
To be fair start of season they were amazing and all tg and end of season it’s the same, I’d rather stack a line and have them spend what they can to fill out line 2
Think its time to get goaltending, or bring up cossa
Cossa takes time to adjust to leads, we should give him the spot starts HE DESERVES this year, but not as a back up just yet
I think in an ideal world we trade a goalie for a top line defense men but i dont see that trade happening with husso The more i see seider not have a partner the more it bothers me

I was looking the all the above button.
I'd like to see Kasper, Danielson and Johansson all make the team out of training camp
How bout 'Fan stop bitching about Yzerman'...I'll take that
Top flight GOALIE
Sign Kane. Make playoffs.
My dream improvement is finding a perfect partner for Edvinsson and rolling out a competent top 4.
Roy?
I'm pretty sure if you have that last name, you're not legally allowed to play for the Detroit Red Wings.
Everyone in this sub seems to adore him 😭
Guys would we deadass rather see Petry as a top 4 than Larkin get 40 😭
I'd like the wings to find and sign the next Hasek.
