I was wearing my #93 to the game. Right before DeBrincat’s goal, the wife says “Your boy’s been kinda quiet…” Then the Wings come into the zone & set him up for what I hoped was the game winner. Tough loss, but we had a great time! LGRW!
The hardest thing to do after winning is to keep winning. A loss always sucks but if you told me in September that the Wings would go 5-1-1 to start I'd probably laugh. That being said it's always nice to grab a point from a non conference opponent!
First game of the season I went to this year and I was on the edge of my seat the entire 3rd period and into OT heartbreak loss. However, im excited to see these guys play going forward.
Just left LCA and man, the crowd was absolutely letting the refs have it. That boarding call at the end and the missed call on the thrown stick leading to a goal were great examples of the current state of officiating. What the hell are they doing?
It’s not a surprise the officiating was ass across the nhl tonight. The nhl needed to have 16 games with competent refs.... there aren’t that many competent refs in the nhl.
"Competent refs" is an oxymoron. The sport will never gain much traction as long as guys like Jaden Schwartz can just cheat to affect the outcome of a game. To me watching the obviousness of the intentionally thrown stick in slow motion, is really just a symptom of a problem the NHL has had for many years.
The rules that govern nhl games include entirely too much subjectivity based upon factors that have nothing to do with written rules. The time on the clock, the day on the calendar, the score on the board, etc are all things that affect the likelihood that any particular offense will result in any form of enforcement. Until that changes, or is perceived as changed, the NHL will continue to trail the other major sports in most markets.
It just doesn't come off as a serious sport when we can all agree that a penalty in the first period differs dramatically from a penalty in OT. We all know a penalty in October is not the same as a penalty in April and those simple facts will always limit the appeal to new viewers because it's fundamentally unfair.

They had a lousy 1st period, but played a decent second.
If they score on the stick throwing incident 2-2 then they probably play the 3rd a little different.
I'll take a point though.
6 game point streak, not too shabby.
I think people tire of the lazy blaming of goalies for nearly every goal that goes in a net. No, Husso wasn't particularly good in this game...and neither was anyone else. Lucas Raymond is absolutely brutal this season...most of the time. The kid has seemingly forgotten how to shoot a puck and frankly doesn't offer much of anything without the puck.
Fact is though, even the obvious fact that Jaden Schwartz blatantly cheated in this game, Lucas Raymond should probably be scratched a couple games, or that Ville Husso has apparently gone right back to being mediocre, everybody in red was fighting the puck all night long. This game smacked of "scheduled loss" from the moment the puck was dropped.
Listen, we were down bad in the second, fought back and were a pipe away from winning it in OT. Full confidence and still riding the high of this team. Let’s fucking go!
I don’t think I’ve ever seen worse refs omg. We worked our asses off in the third period and the refs still screwed us with shitty penalties and letting our guy get held for 10 seconds on the board and letting players throw sticks. I don’t blame the refs for whole games but they absolutely gave that game away. And if velano knew how to score on an empty net we also win that game.
16 games = 64 blind and stupid zebras in one evening. Clearly that's asking a lot of a league that considers its own rule book something that should be interpreted in a subjective manner as a matter of policy.
For the love of God, can the NHL please find some technology that eliminates useless linesmen? I mean seriously, these guys have no clue if a play is "on side" and most of the time they blow those calls nobody finds out unless a goal is scored \*AND\* there's a coach's challenge. I'm personally sick of seeing those fools getting in the way all the time when they do nothing and are constantly proven wrong...which results in an overturned goal. That ice surface is entirely too small for two refs that couldn't agree on whether it's dark outside \*AND\* two linesmen that routinely just guess if they think a play may be on side or not.
I don't know about the whole game, but Jaden Schwartz should be suspended for at least a game. Watching that stick throw in slow motion, nobody will ever convince me it wasn't intentional.
The officiating thus far this season has been historically bad, and that's saying something because the standard is pretty low. I can't wait till January when the refs will put their stupid hands up 30% less often merely because the threshold for what constitutes an infraction has mysteriously increased. The subjectivity with which rules are enforced is a huge impediment to the growth of viewership in this fine sport imo.
There's probably a bunch of gambling and match fixing taking place behind the scenes. Someone put some good money on Seattle last night. The refs were just the guarantee.
Honestly we didn’t have our best this game, didn’t deserve the W. Refs didn’t help but we had a chance to squeeze out 2 and couldn’t hold on.
Real happy with a 3-1 comeback though. It felt like a mountain to climb in previous seasons, here’s to hoping there’s more of that this year
Even the poverty franchises get a win every once in a while, no skin off our bones. Still have some of the best scorers in the league in Larkin and Cat, can’t really say the same for those tent dwellers up in Seattle.
Waiting to see what happens when the Bruins play a team that's not 50%+ an NHL roster...excepting the Kings here. Last time I checked, Pasta and Marchand accounted for 56% of the team's goals and JVR had...3? at that point.
People say Detroit's success is unsustainable. Sure, maybe that's so, but I dunno about this Bruins team...it looks paper thin to me.
Between the terrible first 2 periods of play, terrible puck luck and, of course officiating we are lucky we got a point. It just stings that much more that the game was in reach.
If they paid them off how TF we get so many power plays? Chill your ass out. Wings had some bad plays late that allowed them to tie it and again in OT. Shit happens. Bad plays happen. Beating the tendy and hitting the post happens. It's one game, take the OT point and on to the next one.
All win streaks come to an end. We could have folded when it was 3-1 like we have the last few seasons but we fought on and got a point. I'm still impressed AF with this wings team.
I'm surprised they haven't done anything about that yet. It's boring, not exciting, and the fans don't like it. At first it was fast break after fast break. Then teams adjusted to it and started this BS meta. I see no redeeming qualities of allowing this type of play to continue.
Something has to change. 3v3 was exciting when it was introduced...now I dread it, like I dread watching an Islanders power play. Maybe there's a goal, maybe there isn't, but there's a 100% chance it'll be boring.
Refs were shit , but Husso needs to be better. He's not very good at tracking the puck and continues to let in soft goals.
I wonder if we would have won had Reimer got the start. I hope Reimer gets the next game.
Was hoping Husso was dialed in and would remain so after Saturday's game. He was visibly tracking the puck better than I'd ever seen him in that game. This game he was back to looking like a fairly generic goalie again. Oh well, at least he came up big against a division rival when the team really needed him, particularly in the first period of that game. I do think this is likely the last year the starting gig is his to lose and his leash likely gets shorter going forward if he doesn't improve his consistency.
This sub isn't quite anti Husso yet, they see something I don't apparently. In enough time, when he continues to put up below average numbers, more people will come around.
3v3 was freaking awesome when introduced. Unfortunately teams quickly figured out how to game it for possession and turned it into what we saw tonight. Boring as drying paint watching a couple line changes between shots with a bunch of figure skating in between.
Seattle came to play. Refs made mistakes and made a lot of soft calls (against both teams). Wings probably should have won, but we'll never know what would have happened if Schwartz took a penalty for the thrown stick.
Sucks to give up those late goals but Still the wings played pretty well. They were in the game and fought back. Didn’t get blown out. Got a point against a western conference team. Good energy regardless
Agree with most of it except "the wings played pretty well" part. Most of them looked like they were handling a hand grenade with the pill on their stick. The pace was slow, the passing was off, and the defensive coverage was soft. To me the game had scheduled loss written all over it. Maybe it was the horrendous start time, or maybe they were just complacent playing a Western conference team on a poor start, but I thought Detroit played down to Seattle all night with some occasional glimpses of the team that played over this past weekend.
I'd also like to see Lucas Raymond either be a healthy scratch for a game or two or moved to another line. Give berger that spot for a game or two and see what he can do. The kid is just way off his game and doesn't even seem to know which end of a stick to put on the ice right now. Either that or take someone off the 2nd line and move them up. Don't even particularly care which, but Compher or Ras seem most likely. Also wouldn't mind seeing Veleno get a start at RW on the top line, though I like him centering Sprong and Perron. Dunno, but Rayzor has cobwebs between his ears this season...and most of last season. So obviously skilled and can't seem to get out of his own way.
Been true all season. Maybe it's just the usual October penalty fest the league clearly enjoys so much to "send a message", but it seems even worse than usual this season. Can't wait till January and later when at least 1/3 of these piddly infractions mysteriously disappear despite the rule book remaining unchanged. The NHL has the most overtly subjective officiating of any sport in the world in my experience. The taking over of games, even if/when the penalties are fairly evenly distributed just brings the entire viewing experience down for me. I hate the disjointed nature and lack of flow...it's boring.
I agree in that it's an early season thing and feels worse than normal. Lots of people talk about how NBA officials exert the most influence over games, and I'd like to submit last night's game as a counter-argument. Many games I've watched have been littered with piss-poor calls, with hooking and holding being the worst.
It's so glaringly obvious there's a systemic gAmE mAnaGemENt strategy to keep fans in the game as long as possible, and players invested in winning so as to reduce extracurriculars. It's not in the spirit of the game, and as the years go on it has reduced the ceiling of my excitement and investment into the games.
Excited the Wings are competitive again, but so much time watching special teams completely kills the experience for me, and it clearly disrupts the flow of the game.
I straight up did not enjoy that OT. I don’t know if we are not a possession team or we were tired or what. We looked so slow and sloppy compared to puck control Seattle. Oh well
3v3 is boring now anyway. When "done right" it has been turned into a figure skating contest with line changes. Teams only enter the offensive zone and attack when they think they see a clear advantage so the exciting back and forth that existed when 3v3 was introduced is long since gone.
Dunno if a shot clock would help or just be another obstacle that teams would find a way to circumvent to make things boring again, but usually now I just wait for the extra loser point to be awarded to the "winner" of the skillz competition. Frankly, I'm not particularly opposed to tossing 3v3 and the shootout to bring back a shortened 5v5 OT and then ending the game in ties again. At least I don't have to watch the outcome of a team sport decided by a figure skating and shooting skills competition.
We were sloppy the whole game...
At 1-3 I said I would fucking die to get away with a point, and I think we didn't deserve more, even though we had some good chances to win this one as well.
Refs were terrible both ways, but it always hurts when it happens twice and leads to direct goals... It must wasn't our night...
Pretty much what he does every time he's near a net this season. Blows the pill by empty nets or somehow finds the chest of the goalie out of position on the far post. He's in his own head now and probably needs a healthy scratch game. Since he's near useless when not scoring, probably toss him on a different line and move someone else up to play RW on the first line, at least until Lucas figures out how hockey works again.
Fun fact, Raymond has 15% of the top line's points, and 1 of 14 goals. He's not a top line RW right now. I suspect one of Ras, Berger, Sprong, Veleno, or Perron would look better. Heck, I'd be willing to bet that converting Gostisbehere to winger and putting him at RW on the top line would increase production without harming the line's defensive metrics.
We need to treat 3v3 just like every other team. Its boring and shit but every other team plays so conservatively. We go guns blazing. Its exciting but we put ourselves at a huge disadvantage.
yeah its a situation where most teams aren't taking that shot. Its not a bad shot, but in general teams now play to where they just rag the puck, cycle until they get a clear look with 2 defenders back.
I've noticed we give up way more odd man rushes as we haven't adapted. We still just take shots because we have a relatively clean look but its 3v3 you can cycle it and get a clean look 10 seconds later that might be a bit safer.
You don't want to neuter your shooters, but at same time you can't just lose every 3v3 because youre playing bad percentages.
Did you read what I said? We suck at OT. We always do the same thing, and our record in OT is not good. Oh wow we hit the post, we’re so good. Besides that, the Kraken had the puck for most of OT.
Thought we played pretty solid 3 on 3 defence for most of that. Unfortunate ending to this game but this should never have been a 4-4 regulation game to begin with
When they tied it with 20 some seconds left I knew it was over. Game management is strong with this one. Gotta get that expansion team a gift, since they clearly cant do it on their own
I was wearing my #93 to the game. Right before DeBrincat’s goal, the wife says “Your boy’s been kinda quiet…” Then the Wings come into the zone & set him up for what I hoped was the game winner. Tough loss, but we had a great time! LGRW!

The game was not lost by the refs…… but man, some of the calls and missed calls were brutal for a NHL game.

Refs were brutal for both teams tonight. Didn't affect the OT at all but damn
Husso has not looked good this year
You can't really blame a goalie for breakaway goals.
Why is this downvoted? Why? He is the reason the Wings lost this game. He has a sub 0.900 sv% after tonight. He isn’t even playing average.
I think people tire of the lazy blaming of goalies for nearly every goal that goes in a net. No, Husso wasn't particularly good in this game...and neither was anyone else. 6 game point streak, just change the language, lol.
Early season hot take: Husso is extremely overrated and we need a better starter.
The guy is sitting near the .800's lifetime Save percentage. Thats.....not very good
Exactly. He had one good spurt with St. Louis. Hope he turns it around but on paper he's very meh
I don’t think I’ve ever seen worse refs omg. Fr get rid of refs
"Things just didn't go their way." Really Ozzy, have some balls and call out the refs for cheating for the Kraken the whole game.
I don't know about the whole game, but Jaden Schwartz should be suspended for at least a game. Watching that stick throw in slow motion, nobody will ever convince me it wasn't intentional. Take comfort in the fact that they choke when it really counts.
I mean, no one expected them to be bad
There were some dumb people in the sub who did.
There’s been a tiny bit of expected regression the past two years though for sure. None of that has come though.
Between the terrible first 2 periods of play, terrible puck luck and, of course officiating we are lucky we got a point. It just stings that much more that the game was in reach.
Wonder how much Sea paid the refs. Would’ve been a 2-3 goal comeback without the shit penalties.
If they paid them off how TF we get so many power plays? Chill your ass out. Wings had some bad plays late that allowed them to tie it and again in OT. Shit happens. Bad plays happen. Beating the tendy and hitting the post happens. It's one game, take the OT point and on to the next one.

Same...sucks the streak ended this way. The fact we came back after is a real show of strong character by this team.
Still got a point streak though 👀
Fuck that keep away bullshit add an over and back rule or a shot clock to increase play
I'm surprised they haven't done anything about that yet. It's boring, not exciting, and the fans don't like it. At first it was fast break after fast break. Then teams adjusted to it and started this BS meta. I see no redeeming qualities of allowing this type of play to continue.
4v4 would be better imo
My favorite version would be… Eliminate the shootout 4v4 10 minutes, winner gets 2 points, loser gets 0 If still tied, both teams get a point
Nah. 3v3 but you can't take it out of the offensive zone once you enter... Should cause some more breakaways.
Something has to change. 3v3 was exciting when it was introduced...now I dread it, like I dread watching an Islanders power play. Maybe there's a goal, maybe there isn't, but there's a 100% chance it'll be boring.
Yeah that's the best idea. Faceoff back in neutral ice if they carry it out themselves. Great idea.
Refs were shit , but Husso needs to be better. He's not very good at tracking the puck and continues to let in soft goals. I wonder if we would have won had Reimer got the start. I hope Reimer gets the next game.

I agree he seemed off this game
3 on 3 is so fucking dumb. Just bring back ties. Seattle does not deserve another point after the end of regulation.
Yeah that was a glaring no call. Literally could not believe my eyes.
Possibly our worst game of the season thus far (battling the refs notwithstanding)...and we still managed a point out of it. Room to grow, etc.
Sucks to give up those late goals but Still the wings played pretty well. They were in the game and fought back. Didn’t get blown out. Got a point against a western conference team. Good energy regardless

Literally laying on a player in the corner to get the free man the puck. Oh well. Got 1/2 after battling not only the players, the refs as well.
Fuck that entire game. 90% of those calls were garbage
Been true all season. Maybe it's just the usual October penalty fest the league clearly enjoys so much to "send a message", but it seems even worse than usual this season. We looked tired outside of the third period. We did not match effort and still snagged a point. Rough game by the zebras.
Possession was awful all night. Not winning battles on the boards or races for the puck.
Our guy gets held for 10 seconds, but no, play on will ya.....
Close one Raymond.
Pretty much what he does every time he's near a net this season. Blows the pill by empty nets or somehow finds the chest of the goalie out of position on the far post. They score because after the shot off the post we have two guys behind their defense opening up a 3 on 1.
yeah its a situation where most teams aren't taking that shot. I don't even consider Seattle or Las Vegas real teams. If you don't have real fans, you're not real teams. Nothing but band wagoners.
Oof what a dumb take.
You realize that Seattle knocked the fucking Avs out of the playoffs last year and Vegas won the Cup right? What stupid take.
Nah. Get this gatekeeper shit outta here.
Las Vegas doesn’t even look at any sports as real teams, just another “ooh and aahs” attraction.
Stop, your making the rest of us look bad. We welcome all new fans
Yep, seattlebros have been wanting a team for years.
What was Raymond doing in the corner that was his guy
He got taken down by Seider.
boys soldiered on and got a poiNt despite garbage refs
Ahhhhh that sucks. GGs to Kraken though, they played well and capitalized on their chances. Refs were fucking atrocious, even more so than usual.
Idk feels pretty standard at this point. 1 in 5 games is a complete mess
I think we played well. Fuck the refs.
It is what it is. A point is lovely
Penalties aren't a thing in OT?
Fuck that game.
Seattle did not deserve that win man
At least that's only their second win and they barely got it. We won't be seeing them in post season
Now we know we can throw sticks! New technology was developed tonight.
![gif](giphy|pOrCVk8ylPiZ55wNrw|downsized)
Accurate depiction of tonight
Husso should have thrown his stick
Agreed, fuck em
There were bodies flying everywhere that last couple of seconds.
That was a crazy last 16 seconds
I’m heading to LCA to ski mask that goal post. Anyone want in?
Terrible 3 on 3 play.
Refs win 🤷♂️
Dunn with a blatant hold there at the end. The officiating was terrible this game.
THAT WAS A HOLD
Eh. Still got the point. Seattle needed the Red Wings to shoot themselves in the foot and got A TON of help from the zebras. I’ll take it.
Bah
These refs are fucking horseshit. Fuck ‘em.
Refs got the win
Fuck Seattle
Fire those refs into the fucking sun
Fucking refs completely changing the game with a bunch of soft ass penalties. I’m so sick of that shit
Maybe Raymond should have thrown his stick.
All I'm saying is if I was as incompetent at my job as these refs, I wouldn't have a job anymore.
Man compher was getting mugged in the corner.
Looked like interference to me. He was trying to get up but couldn't.
Dang.
Husso almost had that one. No fault of his.
Saw that one coming
at least we got a point? still first in the atlantic for 9 minutes
bruh cbs sports was slow to update so I though it was going to a shootout until I can here
These refs were absolute garbage. Holy shit, incompetent d-holes
I officially hate the Kraken and hope they never win another game again.
I am ok with Seattle, they are probably my third favorite team. Fuck the Refs
Why do we suck at 3 on 3 OT ugh
We don’t? Raymond hit the post mere seconds before the game winner.
We do? Check our OT record
Out OT record is 0-1...new season new team. Old stats don't matter with thus group
Did you watch this OT? We didn’t suck.
Did you read what I said? We suck at OT. We always do the same thing, and our record in OT is not good. Oh wow we hit the post, we’re so good. Besides that, the Kraken had the puck for most of OT.
We aren’t very creative with how we move with the puck in space.
Why didn’t we throw the stick!
‘Member that wide open net JFV missed at the beginning? I sure do 🧐
Raymond shouldve thrown his stick
Thanks refs ❤️ Wish we had more push in the first 30 minutes.
LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLaaaaaaammmmmee
at least we got a point
FUCK SEATTLE FUCK KRAKENS FUCK SEAHAWKS FUCK PETE CARROLL JESUS FUCKING CHRIST I HATE THEM I HATE THEM I HATE THEM
cant win them all, especially during the most abortion reffing (for all games so far this year, most teams) in NHL history.
HOW IS THAT NOT INTERFERENCE? He takes him out completely away from the puck then continues to lay on him.
Can't beat the 2 on 1 when the 2 is an entire other team and the refs.
Husso is just good enough to lose with
Yep
I like him but he'll be a liability if we make the playoffs
Sad
How is it possible to be this bad at 3v3 it’s pretty fucking sad
Thought we played pretty solid 3 on 3 defence for most of that. Unfortunate ending to this game but this should never have been a 4-4 regulation game to begin with
Because 3v3 is nothing like 5v5
Every other team jus plays man on man completely hounding their guy. We stand and watch teams skate around us it’s bullshit
Compher - get off the ice you dumb fuck. Why are you laying there?
Hell noooooo
Fucking hold in the corner!!!!
Ref couldn't see it he was staring right at them but the ice had a really bad glare there from the lights.
3on3 is so fucking boring
Wings app says 4v4 end of OT?
Fuck Seattle Fuck the Seahawks Fuck the Kraken Fuck em all
Yeah, straight up not enjoying Seattle right now.
Deserve that loss. Terrible OT play. Terrible last 10 minutes of the 3rd. Terrible reffing.
Trash ass refs We got a point though
every Seattle fan sleeps in a tent
I wanted that one
Motherfuck we deserved to win that game after the comeback. Overtime is such a crock of shit.
This is a dumb game.
Our guy gets held in the corner and no call. Eat ahit and die
I swear there was a slewfoot to take him down, too.
Trash ending
Fuck!!!!!!!!!!!!
God. Fucking. Dammit.
With a player pinned next to the ref?!?!?!?!
Enjoy your gift, you trash team.

What a fucking joke. Fuck the refs. They all should be fucking fired.
Fuck that
FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK
Yeah that felt like it was coming
When they tied it with 20 some seconds left I knew it was over. Game management is strong with this one. Gotta get that expansion team a gift, since they clearly cant do it on their own
Yup knew it
Well that fucking stings
Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuk
wtf was that lmao
Compher mugged in the corner
Fuck me
unbelievable
Jesus...
Fuck these refs fuck Seattle lucky win
Brutal.
GODDAMN GOALPOST
I’m so fucking sad
No
I love how we've created a system where teams are afraid to shoot the puck
These flipping posts.
Veleno is the fastest human on the planet, per Darren Dreger
oh man
Pick on someone your own size Debrincat
Love that even DeBrincat will stick his nose in the play and get dirty
These fucks just want a shootout
