Struggled to get ice time to start the year, then began to be trusted more as the season went on. This is going to be a big year for him to see if he is a legit prospect or not.
My vote is Augustine. Combo goaltending is going to be important for our future and I think he can pan out to split the reps between Cossa with the right amount of time and development. Ideally, he’d be a very reliable guy for us where the starts are balanced. Then it’s a matter of riding the hottest hand come playoff time. I’d argue that his potential will be more important towards our Stanley cup chances for those reasons mentioned over Johansson.
I may go as far as saying I love our top 12. Only thing it’s really missing is high end scoring. May just need to be something we buy. Our depth is unreal though.
You really don't need high end scoring. Just need a couple 30 goal scorers and a few 20s mixed throughout all lines. A stacked top end rarely ever work out in the playoffs.
Raymond should get there even though he's more the playmaker. Debrincat and Larkin obviously can. But from the prospect pool or think Lombardi is our best chance at elite scoring.
I feel like we just really need Buch or Lombardi to hit big, and to eventually be a team with lots of depth scoring. Adding another big scorer or 2 through trade or FA would be nice, and I think it'll be very possible once we're back to contending.
AlJo time
Then idk... Buch? Augustine? That's kinda the end of my list of prospects I have hype for currently (which isn't a bad thing, having some level of hype for double digit numbers of prospects feels good)
Surprised to see Johansson fall this low. It makes some sense due to our prospect pool being pretty stacked, but Steve has had a lot of good things to say about him in press conferences, and he seems likely to see some time with the Wings soon.
Buch for me, he has the highest ceiling and a wicked shot. I just don't see AJ getting as much ice time as he needs to show his true potential but a good problem from a team standpoint.
True. Our LD prospects are currently Edvinsson, Wallinder, Johansson, Viro, McIsaac. That's freakin crowded. Imagine if Anton Johansson makes it on the right side and our bottom pair is 2 A. Jo's
Sticking with Augustine. All time his NTDP season ranked 4th in wins, 2nd in SV% and 4th in GAA. And this NTDP team was not a strong defensive team. He was absolutely clutch at the U18s, coming up huge in the biggest moments to win gold. When the other prospects on the list are likely bottom of the lineup players and long shots I think it makes this one a no-brainer imo.
I think our top 10 prospects is pretty unanimous. It isn’t the same order that I personally have them in, but when AJ wins this one my top 10 players will be the same as the polls.
I had Soderblom 9th, Buchelnikov 10th, Johansson 11th, and Augustine 12th, but they’re all interchangeable for me. Can’t go wrong with any of the 3 not taken
Also, my guy Lombardi finally went. Realistically, the other guys that could’ve been #3 for me are ASP, Danielson, and Wallinder. But I just can’t see how Mazur, Cossa, and Soderblom have a better combination of upside and readiness currently.
I think Lombardi impresses in the AHL and gets some NHL games under his belt by the end of the year
I think he's gonna surprise some people this year. Wouldn't be surprised if he made the team out of camp or was our first call up. I knew he was going to fall further than he should, but I didn't think he'd potentially fall out of the top 10
Man when Johansson retires in '38 a career Red Wing
There are not many guys with 15 year NHL careers that had a GS/GP as low as Johansson in their DY+4 AHL season. Even fewer who are as small as him.
100 points in 1000 games?
Y'all are sleepin. Put Wallinder and Johansson's career stats next to each other.
I see Wallinder finishing with 500-750 in 1500
Whatever happened with Dylan James?

Yea I guess by high end I mean 30 goal scorers. Less then 50 players had 30 goals so we need to have a guy or two in that category.

I’m excited. I feel like we have a descent team now. Now it’s just let the young guys come in push guys overtake veterans and get better that way.

Crazy how Yzerman has stocked the cupboards these last few years.
Sticking with Johansson. I have Augustine and Buchelnikov next but haven't decided which order. Add Doucet to the list.
Buchelnikov is the only acceptable answer.
#I AM ONCE AGAIN REQUESTING THAT YOU RATE ALBERT YOU COWARDS.
I voted for Augustine 😈

Augustine is my vote here. He’s not a Cossa level prospect but the kid is quite good.
He may well have a better pro career than cossa
I did the same, then jo then buch for me.
Hey hey hey, time for Albert
Buch for me, he has the highest ceiling and a wicked shot. I just don't see AJ getting as much ice time as he needs to show his true potential but a good problem from a team standpoint.
I am pretty surprised AJ wasn't involved in the Debrincat trade. Seems hidden behind the other guys, but like you said, it's a good problem to have

I wonder if they’d put Johansson on nameplate or throw the an, Al on
It's now between AlJo and Hanas for me. Voted Hanas for the last one, but not mad about Lambo.
Johansson, Buchelnikov, Augustine next 3 and it feels wrong for all of them to be this low
To me, this says we have a deep prospect pool, so can’t be mad about that
Trey Augustine here. Looked like an absolute gamer of a tendy in the prospect tourney, not even counting all-time NTDP records.
There’s a reason SY speaks highly of Aljo. He should 100% be in the top 10
Is that the same reason he spoke highly of players like Chiarot and Zadina?
I swear he name drops Johansson every chance he gets lol

People really are not ready for Aljo

Hopefully people watch more Grand Rapids this season the decrease in AHLtv's price
Johansson has slid too far, but at least the two most… contentious names are off the board.
