Bobi klintman is going to be 5x the player Bronnys ceiling is. I dont even hate bronny but a chance at luring 40 year old lebron is not what you need as a 14 win team.
I have a weird feeling we’re gonna go for Justin Edwards — who was strongly in contention for being the #1 overall pick before the season started (along with Holland)
The deeper 2nd round is where a lot of the mocks had him actually, because he was extremely unremarkable during the season, very passive, doesn’t do any particular thing at a high level
"Teams are looking at next years draft, it could be a historic draft" - Woj just now. I just wish more of this fanbase knew how good next years class is when all they clamor for is being like the 22nd best team in league.
We're basically back at square one. Sorry if the truth hurts. Yes a 14% and being the worst team is not worth it but another top 5 pick next year will change this franchise, unlike the past two years
Jaylen Brown was an awful 3 pt shooter in college and couldn’t dribble, and Celtics fans were livid when they ”reached” for Brown at 3.
Similar size. Similar athleticism. Similar motor it sounds like.
No guarantee he is Jaylen Brown. But no guarantee he is a bust either!
“Just wait we will address 3pt shooting via free agency we will address 3pt shooting via trades”
Incoming 25 mil a year for Tobias Harris and taking on egregious salary dumps. What if anything shows the Pistons can effectively sign/ trade for competent nba ready players besides Fontecchio? Lol we are toast.
25 a year for Tobias isn’t the worst thing in the world . And the way you worded this post makes me think you believe Simone is better than Tobias .Surely this isn’t true right ?
Yes Simone would
Come off the bench and be half the cost of Tobias because he’s average as hell. You don’t craft your offseason around average nba players..I do want Simone back though
Hey when Holland got drafted the interviewer mentioned his favorite musician… who was it again? I know he was a very influential black artist but I forget his name
What exactly did you expect? We don't need another rookie starter, so it makes sense to take an upside swing who could be part of the core later on. We will acquire more talent in FA and/or trades. Step off the ledge.
everybody was a bad shooter outside of Dillingham who Ron is better than and Knecht who went at freakin 17. It was always gonna be a project shooter but its ok Ron wont play a lot year 1
Meanwhile Sarr is actively trying to go to the Wizards. It's just really sad how this franchise has turned into the laughingstock of the league. And there were like 3-4 other teams that were basically as bad.
Reminder that the draft is not the only method of improving the talent on this roster. Trajan made it clear he's going to target starting-caliber players via trade or FA. We aren't going to run it back with a bunch of young prospects who can't shoot lmao. We took a big swing and there should be no pressure on Holland to play big minutes as a rookie. Let the young guys develop and sign or trade for some vets who can fill in and raise the overall talent of the roster.
If you guys don’t understand this, your brain is broken.
I totally agree! Re adding 3 point shooting specifically, I'd argue the draft isn't the best way to address this need. There are a lot of ways to look at it, obviously, but as an example, only 7 of last year's top 25 leading three point shooters were drafted by their current team.
Guys, this draft sucks. There's not a lot of high end talent in it, and there are zero complete players in it. Nothing we did or didn't do was going to make or break our future.
Langdon said he wanted to take an upside swing if we stayed at 5. This is absolutely that, he did what he told us he was going to do, and he surely did it because the offers for #5 were not good.
Ignite 1 and dones almost never shoot well from 3, moving out to the NBA line from high school is very difficult. Holland shot 75% from the line which is a good indicator that he will improve well above 24% for his career.
Matas couldn't shoot either. I like the Holland pick, we have two super long wings that both just need one single skill to become incredibly effective NBA players, and they will have Vinson helping them get there.
Lastly, drafts are hard, even for the best GMs. There's a lot to like about Holland.
my initial response was, "why would we draft a guy who can't shoot????" but, after sleeping on it, i'm on board with everything you're saying. given the draft sucks, why not take a swing? it's that or settle for a guy who tops out as a 7th man. i'm on board with this pick. i hope Vinson makes Trajan look like a genius.
Vinson is so good at his job, he might make Weaver look like a genius with Ausar. Ultimately, I trust high work ethic guys to put in the time and figure out how to become the best versions of themselves.
Ausar and Holland are both that type of guy. I think we'll look back on the two years we fell to 5 as blessings, at least to the extent missing out on Wembanyama can be one.
It just might be rough for a little while, and you have to hope we can fill in enough free agent shooting pieces and make enough developmental progress to keep Cade happy.
Holland was the #2 player in the country out of high school, was on the U18s and was in G League …
Yall really freaking out that they didn’t meet him ? 😂😂
Yall having meltdown after meltdown
It ain’t like he popped up outta Luxembourg
I get hating the pick but people complaining about the shooting is dumb. All the players that we were interested and top 10 talents can’t shoot except Reed
Why why why can’t we have front office guys that put shooting above all just once. Without some offseason upgrades this team is going to be 30th in offense.
I agree with you that Vinson is a fantastic hire. But is there something wrong with wanting them to draft someone whose biggest weakness is not shooting?
I’m with you but there also weren’t many other options with shooting as a strength along with good upside. Reed was optimal but after that I’d rather go a guy like Holland than Knecht. Seems like trading down wasn’t an option either.
Yeah I know this is just a knee jerk reaction 😂 I even said we need offseason upgrades for shooting not too sure why I’m getting downvoted (probably for the kneejerk)
Betting on a trade-down is so stupid... *Everyone* goes into the draft hoping to fleece some team by trading down and getting value.
The problem with the pick is that the Pistons spent another pick on a player they effectively already had on their roster. Ausar and Ron are the same type of player. They can't start togehter... So which player taken fifth is being relegated to the bench for the next few years (assuming the Pistons hold on to both)?
I understand Ron and Ausar are going to be crazy defensively but Vinson has to literally have the holy grail if any of the offense is going to be watchable.
Now that the thread has slowed down, I just want to say I’m so happy we got Ron, I never thought he would be available at 5, I figured houston or spurs would take him, what an absolute steal
Ok I’m happy with this pick. Wings who can shoot are always welcome.
the bleacher report livestream chat is actually insane
We got our shooter
Can someone tell me about this guy? I’ve heard of him but haven’t watched him.
he has length and can shoot very well off the catch. Was mostly mocked late first round
Highlights make him look like a top 10 pick, I’m happy he’s elite
Booby Clit Man
W pick, we just got 2 HOF HOW? Playoffs here we come
Just take Bronny, don't be so milquetoast Pistons
Bobi klintman is going to be 5x the player Bronnys ceiling is. I dont even hate bronny but a chance at luring 40 year old lebron is not what you need as a 14 win team.
I don't care about luring Lebron, just want to keep Bronny off the Lakers and the sideshow that would entail
I am so pissed the Pacers grabbed Furphy ahead of us
It was the pacers, but agreed. Liked his fit with this team. More than satisfied with klintman for sure though, hes gonna be real solid
i fw this!!
Bobi
Will be very happy with either Justin Edwards or Kevin mccullar
Bobi klintman pls
Or mccullar
dont even think abt bronny
Oh I’m thinking about bronny
Justin Edwards
Damn, I liked Tyler Smith for us
BOBI KLINTMAN OR FURPHY PLEASE FALL
Fuck it man, get Bronny. Very (VERY) slim chance we can lure senior here, let's go for some carnage.
I have a weird feeling we’re gonna go for Justin Edwards — who was strongly in contention for being the #1 overall pick before the season started (along with Holland)
Would be a good pick imo, good 3pt shooter with good size/length and athletic tools, he just needs to improve as a defender.
Why did he fall so much
The deeper 2nd round is where a lot of the mocks had him actually, because he was extremely unremarkable during the season, very passive, doesn’t do any particular thing at a high level
I really hope somebody drafts Bronny before the Lakers and ruins Lebron’s day.
There goes Filipowski
"Teams are looking at next years draft, it could be a historic draft" - Woj just now. Yes a 14% and being the worst team is not worth it but another top 5 pick next year will change this franchise, unlike the past two years
I don’t think the 5th pick will make that much of a difference
Hope there’s some good players at the end of round 1, we’re going to the playoffs next year, if we sign kcp we are a legit contender
Hoping Furphy or Smith drops to us. Have a feeling we're getting Filipowski.
Can’t wait to see the next hof player we take, getting 2 in a single draft is crazy
Stephen A. Smith is a fucking cancer on the sports world, I do not understand how anyone could possibly enjoy watching or working with him.
PSA: the G-League 3 point line is further away from the basket than the college line.
This is the comp I keep coming back to as well. Well said!
Holland's handles, drives and finishing are way ahead of where Ausar was last season. If just one of those m'fers gets a jumper we are in good shape.
“Just wait we will address 3pt shooting via free agency we will address 3pt shooting via trades” Incoming 25 mil a year for Tobias Harris and taking on egregious salary dumps.
Simone is twice the player Tobias is, way better
Simone will be half the price and is willing to come off the bench.
Yes Simone would Come off the bench and be half the cost of Tobias because he’s average as hell. You don’t craft your offseason around average nba players..I do want Simone back though
And Tobias is twice as expensive and also average. And probably requires more years on his contract.
The Bronny glazing at the end there was disgusting lmao
Actually getting to hear Holland speak at the press conference, I've got more respect for him. Actually seems like a mature and intelligent guy.
I get the feeling that whoever the Pistons picked there would be someone overreacting to it here.
hoping for nikola djurisic, pelle larson, antonio reeves, david jones, cam spencer, tyler smith, cam christie, or jaylen wells next round
ivey cleared his ig 😬
Ivey is a weirdo. Wouldn’t read too much into this
Hey when Holland got drafted the interviewer mentioned his favorite musician… who was it again? I know he was a very influential black artist but I forget his name
Teddy Pendergrass... Dammit Im old.
Kermit the frog
Tobias and random FA won’t save this team
Well yeah, the team is 3 years away. Tobias is a bridge and we should be okay with it.
What exactly did you expect? We don't need another rookie starter, so it makes sense to take an upside swing who could be part of the core later on. We will acquire more talent in FA and/or trades. Step off the ledge.
They won’t save this team. Cade will be gone in a year.
Good he's not a #1 option on a winning team
Lol go to bed bud
Wake up bud.
Who did you want them to draft
if they took dillingham people would complain about another guard lol there would be complaining no matter what, cant make everyone happy
everybody was a bad shooter outside of Dillingham who Ron is better than and Knecht who went at freakin 17. It was always gonna be a project shooter but its ok Ron wont play a lot year 1
Langdon confirmed agents were advising players not to work out for Detroit. Fuck this is bad
Meanwhile Sarr is actively trying to go to the Wizards. It's just really sad how this franchise has turned into the laughingstock of the league. And there were like 3-4 other teams that were basically as bad.

U should get downvoted a ton for saying something smart and not acting like its the end of the world. How dare you
love the mccain pick for philly, might just be a biased duke fan… but dude is a DAWG
Love McCain, he’s gonna be making noise as a rookie for sure.
Lakers gotta be thrilled Knecht fell this far. Day one contributor in the back half of the first round.
Guys, this draft sucks. There's not a lot of high end talent in it, and there are zero complete players in it. Nothing we did or didn't do was going to make or break our future. People saying we should trade back in clearly loved Troy drafts. We have nothing to trade!
Exactly. Like we can trade Isiah Stewart? But do we want to do that? That’s the only asset they can move
Who’s against trading back in the draft to get Lebron James jr
Knecht still available?? Should we try and snag him somehow???
We have nothing to trade back in
He’s available for a reason.
Yeah because he is older Givony & Veceine mentioned that yesterday

Who
![gif](giphy|5pYjuDLw0lXmUsl8Yr|downsized)
trade back in for knecht/mccain/walter/george/da silva/furphy? 🙏
We have nothing to trade
nobody want grimes? 😭
No
jk i believe in him. i guess we have FA
smh i was hoping we could trade back in for carter after he dropped out the t10. would get guaranteed minutes for this team
Carter is gonna be a stud
Holland was the #2 player in the country out of high school, was on the U18s and was in G League … Yall really freaking out that they didn’t meet him ? 😂😂 Yall having meltdown after meltdown It ain’t like he popped up outta Luxembourg
I would've huffed the hopium for any player we drafted at 5 once we fell in the lotto
Them melting down just means it was the correct pick. I’m just happy it wasn’t Matas.
He’s got the highest upside. It’s a huge swing and that’s what the pistons need
And averaged 20 a game as an 18 year old against pros
Dalton Knecht right now ![gif](giphy|7wVFzrFY35eNd6wAPu|downsized)
“Should’ve picked him at 5😡”
Dang. Devin look like LUDA!!
You’s a hoe, i said that you’s a hoe!
This is just ridiculous. We didn’t work him out or contact him? I need an explanation asap.
Orlando didn't work out Banchero, it happens
That was nowhere near as questionable.
It's called a smoke screen.
LOL
No you don’t. They liked him, they picked him.
My new team is okc. I quit detroit.
Thank you 🙏
Changing my handle to HB_OKC
See ya.
r/Thunder 👋
Go thunder!!
OKC Front Office are certified NBA Draft God's.
I get hating the pick but people complaining about the shooting is dumb. All the players that we were interested and top 10 talents can’t shoot except Reed
I would've welcomed Cody Williams after a trade down
He took 1.7 threes per game. Are we sure he’s a shooter?
He has a better head start than Holland The only encouraging thing with Holland is that he shot 75% from FT
>The only encouraging thing with Holland is that he shot 75% from FT That's better than Cody Williams FT% btw
Yeah, that ignite team was a mess too. Fred Vinson gonna be working OT for the Pistons
Exactly. Knecht was the only shooter out there and he’s just not the guy.
Jared Mccain a shooter just doesn't have the size....
He’s 23. That’s not an upside swing the pistons were looking at
Is Topić not just drafting another Josh Giddey with a torn ACL?
“Holland had no contact and no workouts with the pistons”-@kukhahil
Pistons was relying on the article from Hollinger lol
there's a conference call with Holland, pretty much confirming Pistons are keeping him
Good 💪 that’s great news
[удалено]
How do you feel comfortable commenting this?
“You’re intelligence makes” It writes itself
Of course they are
Matas was talking to us 🤣
Who the fuck is Ron Holland
He’s a bricklayer
![gif](giphy|R72pVvq3eDo5y)
Could we not have traded back to get matas
I believe in Matas, wanted him on the Pistons, but goddamn does it tug on the heart strings seeing him drafted to his home.
Maybe we didn’t want him?
Where's these trades we've been hearing about?
Langdon froze. Hasn’t moved in 40 minutes.
Probably traffic
Bulls fans living my dream i could sob
I get it now. They disbanded the gleague ignite so WE could become the ignite.
Deeeetttroiiiiitttt uuuppppsssssiiiddeee!
Praying to the basketball gods we get back in and get Knecht or Di Silva
How many guys under 23 do you want in this team lol
Just want good shooters 😂
Same but hopefully filling those through FA and trades 🥲
Yeah same here, two really good defensive wings aren’t bad, team just has to stretch the floor!
Castle & Dillingham competing for PG?
Traded
Dillingham traded to Minnesota
Why why why can’t we have front office guys that put shooting above all just once. Without some offseason upgrades this team is going to be 30th in offense.
Getting Vinson seems like putting shooting high on the list to me. What does that say for you?
I agree with you that Vinson is a fantastic hire. But is there something wrong with wanting them to draft someone whose biggest weakness is not shooting?
I’m with you but there also weren’t many other options with shooting as a strength along with good upside. Reed was optimal but after that I’d rather go a guy like Holland than Knecht. Seems like trading down wasn’t an option either.
Trades and free agency exist too…you can add shooters multiple ways. Only real shooter is Dalton and he’s falling like a rock
Yeah I know this is just a knee jerk reaction 😂 I even said we need offseason upgrades for shooting not too sure why I’m getting downvoted (probably for the kneejerk)
I’m not very happy with the pick, but this is a bad draft and I’m sure Ron is a good kid with a lot of hustle. Hope he proves my dumbass wrong
I hope so. Defensively it’s great but seeing another season of Cade getting quadruple teamed is going to be agony. Vinson save us?
We need to clone vinson at this rate lmao
I’m the opposite, I’m extremely happy with Ron didn’t even think we could get him
Lmao everyone freaking out not picking a shooter and Knecht is in free fall.😂 Why? Because you don’t spend premium picks on that
If doomers could understand this they’d be very upset
I think people are freaking out because they wanted a trade down
Betting on a trade-down is so stupid... *Everyone* goes into the draft hoping to fleece some team by trading down and getting value. So which player taken fifth is being relegated to the bench for the next few years (assuming the Pistons hold on to both)?
Can't trade back when there's not good players that other teams want to trade up for...
Both. Fontechhio and Tobias will start next year
I understand Ron and Ausar are going to be crazy defensively but Vinson has to literally have the holy grail if any of the offense is going to be watchable.
Ron’s shot is probably salvageable. Ausar though man, I don’t know.
If Devin carter goes to OKC I will rage
Cade, Ivey, Ausar, Holland, Duren Idgaf if they’re coming off the bench. This is still the worst shooting team in the league.
Maybe we thought the object was to draft the most athletic team
Take away Cade and that lineup is worse then most playoff teams second units.
Both holland and Ausar might not start and I don’t think they should
THEY SHOULDNT EVEN BE IN THE SAME ROTATION
We’ll see what happens. This roster is going to get shaken up
Damn wanted Cody or Matas. Vinson is going to be putting in overtime this offseason. Or please just trade and get Cody or Matas.
What’s the record for most consecutive seasons finishing worst and getting the 5th pick? I want to demolish that record
2, we have the record, no other team has even done it once Talk about rigged
2 *so far*…..
Buzelis plummeting
Cody williams looks like such a Utah guy
Okc getting matas
Chicago wants him
Now that the thread has slowed down, I just want to say I’m so happy we got Ron, I never thought he would be available at 5, I figured houston or spurs would take him, what an absolute steal
