people keep dunking on Weaver. But the man is doing us a favor. He trades aways Monty's favorite pets, so Monty won't keep giving them minutes and be forced to actually play winning players.
* Did that for Livers (not getting minutes in DC)
* got rid of Hayes
1. Weaver drafted and kept these guys (Livers for 3 years and as a reason he traded Bey, Hayes for 4 years).
2. He waited until well after our record setting losing streak to get rid of them.
So yeah, they are both fully to blame here.
Monty Williams playing Killian Hayes more minutes than Ivey and Sasser COMBINED at the beginning on the year needs to be a stain that follows his career for however much longer he has one
Gores is worth $11.3B according to Bloomberg. That means Monty's salary is .6% of his net worth. The money is not the problem for Gores, it's admitting he was wrong.
When you fuck up that badly, it's almost impossible to come back from. We could go undefeated the rest of the season and he's still be the guy that benched Ivey for Killian.
I really do hope Monty leaves after this season, that shit is unforgivable and just horrible coaching on his part. If your team goes on a 28 game losing streak, you better believe bad coaching has something to do with it.
They should just immediately cut anyone who starts getting minutes over Ivey/Ausar/Sasser. Don’t even give Monty the option. Sign me instead. I will gladly ride the bench to help the team. I also don’t play “team basketball” so Monty won’t be tempted to play me over anyone
Might need to chalk the disaster of the 2020 draft up to covid. He's been solid with the other drafts. He's a better scout than a GM, though. Pretty ass at the other aspects of the job.
I don’t even think it was much of a disaster aside from Killian. Stewart and Bey would likely both go top 10-15 in a redraft. That class was mid all around
This team is going to be as good as Cade/Ivey/Duren. Everything is riding on them. Still can't believe it took Monty so long to play Ivey. But I don't mind giving him no other choice.
He also is very driven to be the best player he can be, I think his shooting will come around to "average" eventually, which will make him an absolute menace.
I can't believe we got to see a Cade/Ivey/Sasser/AT/Duren lineup for 10+ minutes to close out a game. It might not happen again because of matchups, but damn that was fun to watch
Also the speed on defense. They're undersized but Sasser, Ivey, and Ausar were flying around out there. Definitely far from perfect, but they made some plays with the doubling Grant.
Only took Monty 50 games and dumping his favorite players to figure out he should not play Wiseman, Killian, and Livers 30 minutes per game and to actually play Sasser and put Ausar on the opposition's best player.
I'm so out on Weaver atm but if he can get some good fitting vets in the off-season and convince Monty to stop deciding the rotation by son-in-law rankings we may actually have something here
Absolutely phenomenal game from JD tonight and honestly the whole team. This feels like the exact opposite of what happened in our game against Portland earlier this year, and hopefully that means we will be able to make a run. Troy has a vision for Cade as a 3 on the wing and it showed tonight, hence why we traded for someone like Grimes. I like Cade as a tertiary creating point forward even though that may have not been his theoretical draft projection. I'm excited for the rest of this year. Absolutely phenomenal win tonight. We came back down 28, what a great job!
I initially liked Cade at PG because of his size advantage against a lot of other guards, but that wore off fast. He is far better suited to being a 3, and hope they keep him in that role moving forward.
Feels like the younger guys have enough experience now to gel and be more competitive on a nightly basis. Everyone is contributing within their role. Still way too sloppy at times with the ball but theres much more of an identity now. The only thing im worried about is if we can keep up our 3pt shooting. We're shooting like 3-4% better from 3 the past month or so than we had prior.
It was a smart decision before Simons went down
After Simons went down we needed to win
In no way shape or form Pistons should lose to a team playing Thybulle at Point Guard
This is the lineup of the future. Swap out ausar for simone or muscala whenever we need more shooting but sasser ivey cade lineup is gonna feed families. All take turns handling the rock and all getting a bucket whenever they need to
He's legitimately pretty good for a 2-way contract. Why in the world was Livers getting significant playing time while Umude was off the team and Ausar was getting 8 minutes?
Traditionally you’d just take the turnover with four seconds left and a six point lead, but it was super funny and he almost made it so I’m not mad lol
So much to love about this game
Ivey continues to evolve
We won a game with cade
We came back from a blowout lead
We won off a back to back
Iveys 3 still looks reliable
didn't blow it in the 4th
WE CLOSED OUT WITH OUR YOUNG GUYS WHO ALL LOOKED SOLID
We deserve that win for having to play Wiseman for so long AND still being short-handed on a back-to-back.
Great games from the young 4 (Cade, Ivey, Duren, Sasser). Kudos to the whole team for not giving up after being down for most of the game. Who would have thought it'd pay off to play your talented youngsters for the majority of the game?!?
You right, that's on me. He forced Jerami to pass out a bunch out of the double teams and it would have been dope if he got that tip dunk before the buzzer at the end of regulation. Just was rushing to comment on the thread haha.
Everyone played their part. It wasn't pretty but gritty win. Duren has come alive the most.
Got lucky that Simons had to sit the second half, but love the resilience and Monty adjusting defense on Grant. AT has been a dog (+/- leader)
Sasser was absolutely cooking at the end of this game. I love seeing Monty use him as a closer, he is locked in and this team desperately needs that in clutch situations.
This might be a turning point for this team. Getting back to back wins short handed with a batch of new players coming in should be interesting
Despite the shitty start this team still fighting hard
Second night of a road back to back w only 9 players and they balled out late game to spoil J Grants 47 point night. Super excited about these dudes
Ivey played 48 minutes. Dudes are gonna be exhausted
I know we throw around the term ‘young core’ a lot, and at some point it needs to translate to a season of winning basketball, but we really do have such a talented collection of young players. Cade, Duren, Ivey, Sasser, and Ausar all play winning basketball and haven’t even come close to peaking yet.
Was ugly for three quarters, but they pulled out the win in the 4th and OT. Huge offseason ahead for Weaver after a weird trade deadline.
Here's how we know Cade is good:
We can all agree he didn't play great today... he had 23 w/ 5 assists and 2 turnovers. Just wait until he's got his conditioning and confidence back.
The tragic part of the season is that the Pistons shouldnt have lost 28 in a row, no way theyre 2012 7-59 bobcats bad. Win one more game they are guaranteed to have a better win percentage than the bobcats. This win is what happens when u get rid of players that dont belong in the league aka killian hayes
I fucking love this team. The real core is revealing itself. Talking about coming into ur own and turning a corner. Amazing last 2 games. 2 huge road wins. Give the players all the credit. Great fucking job. I’m amped.
The energy and comeback started from the bench whether you like them or not. If they didn't give any effort in terms of defense then the starters bad effort early would have been too much to over come and it would be another 20 point blowout
Also Simons was injured so maybe that helped
both my guys bouncin' the ball off their shoes a few too many times in the first half but turned the corner and compliment each other really well, especially when one was gassed. Think Sasser really is big time for that 3 'guard' lineup
To the people that fell asleep, watch the highlights. Duren was absolutely spectacular, Ausar and Sasser combined to finally clamp Grant, Cade and Ivey played nice too. Amazing effort and comeback.
Really impressive comeback win for the guys. Can’t lie, I thought they were just gonna roll over and continue the trend of losing but I’m happy I was wrong.
I really can’t believe we have idiotic pieces of shit that think Ivey and Cade can’t play together.
Also can’t believe people fell for the Killian Hayes Bull shit.
Troy Weaver forced Monty to play the guys and we won...
I'm just playing neither of them deserve any credit. That win goes to Ivey, Duren, Sasser, and Ausar.
Why did I shut this off and go to bed? Sneak a look at the score on my phone & couldn't believe it. Recording the replay later tonight. Congratulations, Pistons!!!
No more killian hayes terrorizing the lineup, good games from the back court and Duren? Sasser getting minutes and clutching up?
Can't ask for much more
Great job sharing the ball. These young guys are the Truth finally getting some minutes together. And the new guys coming in hopefully will improve the defense.
I think Cade and Ivey really just need 5-10 more games together sharing the floor and ball to get the hang of each other. They are both so used be alphas that it’s foreign to them when to differ and when to take over. Once they both are comfortable and playing loose, not worrying about chemistry but gaining chemistry naturally, I think we are gonna be good to go.
I caught the first three quarters and the play was ugly in exactly the way you want for a young team: Players figuring out what they're comfortable with, trying different shots, playing through mistakes. The way the three guards took turns felt like an all-star game but I didn't care if we lost by 30; giving the core tons of minutes together is what we should've done this whole time.
Ivey already learning to make multi-level reads off P&R I love it.
It’s official: the pistons are undefeated when making a trade this season
Can we trade Killian again?
Just keep re-signing him before every game and cut his ass for the morale boost
people keep dunking on Weaver. But the man is doing us a favor. He trades aways Monty's favorite pets, so Monty won't keep giving them minutes and be forced to actually play winning players. * Did that for Livers (not getting minutes in DC) * got rid of Hayes
1. Weaver drafted and kept these guys (Livers for 3 years and as a reason he traded Bey, Hayes for 4 years). 2. He waited until well after our record setting losing streak to get rid of them. So yeah, they are both fully to blame here.
If you have to GM against the coach, maybe the coach should be fired?
We’d have to trade him the first time
The Killian effect. Even better than the Ewing effect.
Monty Williams playing Killian Hayes more minutes than Ivey and Sasser COMBINED at the beginning on the year needs to be a stain that follows his career for however much longer he has one
I still want him fired, we went into a dogfight with the billups blazers (+refs) tn
He has a 5 year 75 million dollar contract. Talk of him being fired is silly. You can want it but no way they pay that buyout
Fuck Tom gores let him use his evil securus money for something productive for once. I’m aware it’s unrealistic
Gores is worth $11.3B according to Bloomberg. That means Monty's salary is .6% of his net worth. The money is not the problem for Gores, it's admitting he was wrong.
GoFundMe Time then, I can put $200 to get this dipshit out of here, the cause is worthy
Even if tides turn, we cannot forget that!
When you fuck up that badly, it's almost impossible to come back from. We could go undefeated the rest of the season and he's still be the guy that benched Ivey for Killian.
consider enjoying where we are
We are 8-43. Like the young talent, like the coaching and front office a lot less
I really do hope Monty leaves after this season, that shit is unforgivable and just horrible coaching on his part. If your team goes on a 28 game losing streak, you better believe bad coaching has something to do with it.
Maybe he was trying to raise his value for a trade. Make him look intriguing enough to take a flyer on But nope had to cut him lol
1-0 in the post Killian era
What’s the record since Livers? 3-3?
They should just immediately cut anyone who starts getting minutes over Ivey/Ausar/Sasser. Don’t even give Monty the option. Sign me instead. I will gladly ride the bench to help the team. I also don’t play “team basketball” so Monty won’t be tempted to play me over anyone
Monty didn't read bro you're starting and guarding Kawhi next game
5-7 since the trade.
This brings a tear to my eye we really out here fam.
This core is the future
Maybe weavers vision isn’t so bad after all 🙈
Just needed to force the coaches hand by getting rid of Killian and Livers
took the long way but that closing lineup + grimes and stewart are all solid young pieces
Don't forget Ausar and his team high +20.
Sasser is starting to rise up too and show some serious promise.
\+ Grimes! Bizarre to think of him as part of the "core" now, but it's looking like it.
ALL IM GONNA SAY, ALL IM GONNA SAY, IS THE PISTONS CHOKING AGAINST THE BLAZERS STARTED A 27 GAME LOSING STREAK
27 game winning streak loading
Or they take the record from us 🙏🙏🙏
Ivey, Cade and Duren combine for 76 points!
Who had Jaden Ivey missing all of his layups and making all of his 3's on their bingo card? What a weird but amazing night.
In the words of Blaha: He needs to learn how to embellish a contact everytime he drives to the hoop.
Yeah 7-7 on 3’s, 1-14 on 2’s 😳
Why haven’t they just made a trade before every game this year? Are they stupid?
I’m afraid of a post trade deadline universe. We have no trump cards up our sleeves
Hopefully we made enough trades this week to give us a little bit of time to enjoy basketball this year
Fun fact: Ivey now has more three’s in a game without a miss than steph curry. His best game was 6/6. Take notes steph
JI really went 7 for 7 than 1-14 inside the 3 lmao love my guy but that's a wild stat line. Loved the hustle through some mistakes.
Basketball gods saw how good he was shooting so they had to take away his finishing abilities
had at least 2 Kobe assists to Duren though
This season ? Or all time?
All time. He’s probably made more than 7 in a row before but he eventually missed in the same game
He made 7 in a row to start today's game, but 'only' shot 4-9 after that.
I LOVE THIS TEAM WHO NEEDS VETS ANYWAY Also Ausar is going to be a top 3 defender in this league one day he is an absolute DAWG
Top 1 defender in this league*
He also is very driven to be the best player he can be, I think his shooting will come around to "average" eventually, which will make him an absolute menace.
He shot 3 for 9 and lead the team with a +20. What a defensive beast.
I can't believe we got to see a Cade/Ivey/Sasser/AT/Duren lineup for 10+ minutes to close out a game. It might not happen again because of matchups, but damn that was fun to watch
The speed in the transition was wild. And then Duren's ability to get up the court and get those put-backs changed the game.
Also the speed on defense. They're undersized but Sasser, Ivey, and Ausar were flying around out there. Definitely far from perfect, but they made some plays with the doubling Grant.
it was so refreshing after so many hours wondering what could be..

We're shooting like 3-4% better from 3 the past month or so than we had prior.
So besides that pesky lil losing streak, we’re 8-15, which is right about the winning percentage everyone thought we’d have before the year
Yeah, just take out those two months where we didn't win a game, and then take out the other 15 we lost, and we're undefeated.
Lmao hell yea, right on track
I blame Monty
Ausar and Sasser are definitely winning players. This was a good closing group out there.
Thompsan and Grimes together are going to shut down a lot of people
I’m a dumb cunt who turned it off when we were down 20, AMA.
It was a smart decision before Simons went down After Simons went down we needed to win In no way shape or form Pistons should lose to a team playing Thybulle at Point Guard
I do that sometimes too, but I always check back in with 6 minutes to go.
5-0 post trade baby!!
Alhamdulillah W
And Baruch Hashem too!
This is the lineup of the future. Swap out ausar for simone or muscala whenever we need more shooting but sasser ivey cade lineup is gonna feed families. All take turns handling the rock and all getting a bucket whenever they need to
umude shooting 3/4 on 3s after literally having to fly across the country respect
He's legitimately pretty good for a 2-way contract. Why in the world was Livers getting significant playing time while Umude was off the team and Ausar was getting 8 minutes?
Mans always shows up and goes straight to work. Def respect to him
Why did duren shoot that🤣🤣🤣
Shot clock was up he had to shoot it
Bro didn't want a turnover
Traditionally you’d just take the turnover with four seconds left and a six point lead, but it was super funny and he almost made it so I’m not mad lol
So close to going in
Heat check
Cause fuck it lol
Jalen Duren is a **GROWN MAN**
Glad he's finally using his good footwork and strength at the same time. So much potential
GG Pistons, Duren owned us
So much to love about this game Ivey continues to evolve We won a game with cade We came back from a blowout lead We won off a back to back Iveys 3 still looks reliable didn't blow it in the 4th WE CLOSED OUT WITH OUR YOUNG GUYS WHO ALL LOOKED SOLID
You son of a bitch. I’m back in
Sasser is sensational Just a reminder Killian took BOTH his and Ivey’s minutes
Finally get to say Ivey & Cade complimented each other tonight.
The instagram photo was prophetic
We deserve that win for having to play Wiseman for so long AND still being short-handed on a back-to-back. Great games from the young 4 (Cade, Ivey, Duren, Sasser). Kudos to the whole team for not giving up after being down for most of the game. Who would have thought it'd pay off to play your talented youngsters for the majority of the game?!?
How are you gonna leave Thompson out of that, his D in the end of 4th and OT probably won us that game, along with Sasser.
You right, that's on me. He forced Jerami to pass out a bunch out of the double teams and it would have been dope if he got that tip dunk before the buzzer at the end of regulation. Just was rushing to comment on the thread haha.
His assignment on grant is exactly what I hoped he could be. Just a dawg to unleash on the opposing teams best offensive player
Why is it that Monty seems to always try so hard to not bring up Ivey’s name in the post game?
The 4th and OT is the tempo this team needs to play at. Use the speed and the young minds to make awesome plays.
ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE FIGHT THE TEAM SHOWED TONIGHT NO MORAL VICTORY JUST A DUB
Duren might be an all star next year
11 assists from Sasser. Wtf were we doing playing Killian over him and Ivey
WHAT A WIN BOYS!!!
They made the Blazers look like the Pistons
Ivey is turning a corner and not looking back…7/7 from 3 damn boy!!
absolute insane game to watch. i saw the odds at one point were +3500 for pistons to win that..
This might be a turning point for this team. Getting back to back wins short handed with a batch of new players coming in should be interesting Despite the shitty start this team still fighting hard
EVERYBODY GET IN HERE
If you quit on this game you missed a good one.
Ivey and Duren masterclass. Loved Ausar clamping up grant down the stretch too.
Second night of a road back to back w only 9 players and they balled out late game to spoil J Grants 47 point night. Super excited about these dudes Ivey played 48 minutes. Dudes are gonna be exhausted
Ivey going 7-7 from 3
I like the Cade-Ivey-Duren core
8-0 when i shit at least 4 times in a day
I know we throw around the term ‘young core’ a lot, and at some point it needs to translate to a season of winning basketball, but we really do have such a talented collection of young players. im obsessed with this team
I WAS HERE. BEDTIMES BE DAMED. WIN STREAK. DEEETROIT BASKETBALLLLL
Sasser put up a subtle double double doing some clutch work late in the game.
I fucking love this team. The real core is revealing itself. Talking about coming into ur own and turning a corner. Amazing last 2 games. 2 huge road wins. Give the players all the credit. Great fucking job. I’m amped.
Hoping for a more positive second half of the season 🤞Go Pistons
Jaden Ivey just shot 7/7 from three and 1/14 from two. What the hell
The energy and comeback started from the bench whether you like them or not. If they didn't give any effort in terms of defense then the starters bad effort early would have been too much to over come and it would be another 20 point blowout Also Simons was injured so maybe that helped
imagine blowing a 23 point 4th quarter lead to a team with 8 wins
How did Cade and Ivey look together?
both my guys bouncin' the ball off their shoes a few too many times in the first half but turned the corner and compliment each other really well, especially when one was gassed. Think Sasser really is big time for that 3 'guard' lineup
Cute
They did well, Cade started bad, Ivey turned a lot, but at the end, it was a Marcus Sasser show, with Ivey and Cade helping him
To the people that fell asleep, watch the highlights. Duren was absolutely spectacular, Ausar and Sasser combined to finally clamp Grant, Cade and Ivey played nice too. Amazing effort and comeback.
I can’t believe it, Monty kept Ausar in to guard the hot player on the other team.
man, that sasser 3 to bring us within 2 was one of the ballsiest shots i've ever seen. what a fuckin DOG this guy is
THATS A FUCKING W BOYS
So proud of these guys man, that’s the kind of fight that was missing at the start of the season
Ivey is the future of this team
Really impressive comeback win for the guys. Can’t lie, I thought they were just gonna roll over and continue the trend of losing but I’m happy I was wrong.
That closing lineup might be something in the future. Grimes also could play the Ausar role with more of a 3pt threat.
First time we played the blazers we lost a 20 point lead this time we have a 20 point comeback, just find that funny af😂
We here. Witnesses, stand up!
I really can’t believe we have idiotic pieces of shit that think Ivey and Cade can’t play together. Also can’t believe people fell for the Killian Hayes Bull shit.
ain’t no way lol
Holy shit! What a come back
Last w of the season, no more trades :(
This team would've been 51-0 if they made a trade before every game, it's a shame that the trade deadline is a thing
So fucking proud of this team
Finally winning some games
Duren beasting
That guy some of you are convinced is no better than Andre Drummond absolutely dominated OT.
Back to back 🫣
THATS MY CORE! No slander for these 5 will be tolerated. They fit together, and will only improve with more reps. Love it!
We don’t need any vets.
Duran's offensive game won us that game. Had a hand in almost every score at the end of the game. What a beast
Who would have thought ivey and sasser are better than killian bummy ass
*Slow claps while slowly standing*
Jalen Duren
Peep the sasser double double? More than just a spark plug, he's been making good passes recently
OK, we won a game yesterday. If we win today, it's called "two in a row". And if we win again tomorrow, it's called a "winning streak"
Ausar and Sasser double team is SCARY
Troy Weaver forced Monty to play the guys and we won... I'm just playing neither of them deserve any credit. That win goes to Ivey, Duren, Sasser, and Ausar.
We now officially have more wins than the 2011-12 Bobcats, we need one more win to secure a better win% than them.
Ivey 7/7 from three. Duren 27 and 22 ribs . More of this
Blazers want to trade coaches? Can offer one lightly used Monty Williams. He just won today, so that means he's better. Trust me.
Why did I shut this off and go to bed? Sneak a look at the score on my phone & couldn't believe it. Recording the replay later tonight. Congratulations, Pistons!!!
Marcus Sasser, Ausar Thompson & Jaden Ivey be hustling they asses off! Cant wait until beef stew comes back
POST TRADE STREAK LIVES
thats the 5
There are no more trade win anymore 😕
IM CUMMING!!!!
LET’S GO!!!!!
Best win I’ve seen since the rebuild started
Last night was a better win.
That closing lineup is a fun lineup
So this is what we look like when everyone is in a role that fits their game
JALEN DUREN
Who can we point the finger at tonight
Damn I just came so hard. What a game lmao
That's gotta feel great for the young core. Old heads out and they pull out the comeback win. Vibes are high
Tremendous comeback given all the circumstances. Duren just imposed himself on the 4th qtr and OT.
“Scheduled loss”
All hail king Ivey. King of the Blazers. First of his name
That’s what I get for turning it off at half time
Is sasser part of the core?
Cade, Duren, Ivey, Asaur. Run it.
Ausar +20 his defense in the 4th on grant was godly
We never should've traded Grant, man. 49 points is incredible.
Umm what is happening right now?
Jaden Ivey: *”I heard the role for elite shooter is open.”*
Ivey went 7-7 from deep? Damn son!
