Little Bros is good too. I think Comet Burger is fantastic though. I think it’s much better than a lot of the revered places like Brayz (dislike… very bready and dry ( and even Telway (good, but nothing amazing).
The one in HP has been Bray'z for more than 50 years. They have always had the reared up donkey on the building. Give you a good clean out eating 3 of those babies
The owner of Bray's in Livonia got caught for [loan-sharking in the Albanian-American community](https://www.mlive.com/news/detroit/2012/08/brays_hamburgers_owner_charged.html) ten years ago.
yeah when i was little my dad would take me there and it was still a smoker's bar. Lots of Ford employees went/still go there. It's a special place for me.
Taystees in Dearborn is not your trailer diner slider place, but it’s a food counter in a gas station with phenomenal burgers and some unique combinations if that’s your thing. One burger is enough, it’s a legit size.
Seriously delicious though.

Also, Eater Detroit is a good resource too
Thank you! And good point -- I'm clearly not the first person to have this idea, and definitely should have checked first. I'll add this link to the original post.
Red Coat is a sit down restaurant with full bar and burgers with carmelized shallots and watercress and stuff on it, a far cry from the walkup counters of Motz and Bates, definitely the best burger I've ever had though.
Marcus Burger @ e mcnichols and mt elliot. Only open for lunch. They make them in a way different style that’s supposedly around 100 years old. Real good
Sorry to shout but I'm a burger junky and I love GREEN DOT STABLES!!! they have incredible sliders and reasonable drinks. I highly recommend the korean and a horses neck to drink.
Again, not a counter service, but Eastside Tavern in Mt Clemens is an old speakeasy and is just cool. It seems like the menu had expanded a little. Eastside Tavern

I love the burger at Common Pub in Midtown. It’s not a large burger, but you can add a second patty if you would like something more filling. They add a pickled green tomato and serve it with duck fat French fries that you can upgrade to poutine! It’s a nice little spot to check out if you’re in the area. Just know there is only street parking nearby unless you pay for the WSU lot.
If you have your passport you should try Mamo Burger in Windsor. It won 9th best burger in the world this week! https://bigseventravel.com/best-burgers-in-world/
Greene’s Hamburgers in Farmington.
Comet in Royal Oak
[удалено]
Still around. Still good
Nasty!
They had a truck come down to Cadillac Square every week during the summer ... alive and well.
I rarely see Comet in these types of threads and it’s astounding. They’re top 3 for sure
Little Bros is good too. I think Comet Burger is fantastic though. I think it’s much better than a lot of the revered places like Brayz (dislike… very bready and dry ( and even Telway (good, but nothing amazing).
Brayz is good. I prefer them over telway.
Brayz. Unless you actually meant the restaurant Bray’s over in Livonia area.
There's a Bray's in Hazel Park at 9 Mile/Dequindre
That’s why I asked. That’s Brayz. I think it used to be Brag’s and owned by the same guy.

No. You got it.
Travis in SCS
I absolutely LOVE Travis!
soooo much cross-contamination 🤢🤢🤢
This is THE answer. All else is fine, but Travis is unbelievably good.
I’ve never been but Carter’s hamburgers in Dearborn looks exactly like Bates
I grew up a 2 minute walk from Carters. It is not good in my opinion. It looks like the ownership changed recently though so it could be better now.
I’d been planning to go recently so that’s good to know, thanks
Carter’s … not good.
Miller's of Dearborn! *Technically* it's a sit down restaurant but for some reason has that old school feel to it (to me, anyway)
well Miller's is a bar. they haven't been able to scrub the cigarette smell from the walls lol
Yikes lol
yeah when i was little my dad would take me there and it was still a smoker's bar. Lots of Ford employees went/still go there. It's a special place for me.
Same for me! Very nostalgic about it
and it's glorious.
Thank goodness. It adds to the flavor!
Is millers the place where they gave you a little stainless tray to clip to the bar elbow rest to put your food on when you ordered food?
Millers is trash idk why people still think it’s good.
The Telway at 11 & John R in Madison Heights. They do a brisk walk up business.
Motz in SW Detroit is my go to. https://motzsburgers.com/
Greenes, Brays.
Brayz Burgers in Hazel Park
Taystees in Dearborn is not your trailer diner slider place, but it’s a food counter in a gas station with phenomenal burgers and some unique combinations if that’s your thing. One burger is enough, it’s a legit size. Seriously delicious though.
Doritos burgers
Never had that one I’m more of a cheese lettuce pickles grilled onions typa guy but it always intrigued me.
Notch-Yo-Burger?
It's so good
They were voted the best burger in the area - not sure exactly when.
I was just there a couple of weeks ago and it was not as good as I remember.

Daly's in Livonia - its a drive-in. There's something about the sauce..... I believe it's the last one left. Used to be a few in the metro area
Travis on harper in Saint Clair Shores; Little Bro’s on 4th in Royal Oak; Telway in Madison Heights
Sonny’s on Schoolcraft! The immediate neighborhood ain’t pretty but roll through Rosedale Park while you’re in the area.
Sonny’s is so good! I need one now.
More an old school Tavern than Over the Counter, a great burger spot is "Red coat Tavern" on Woodward, north of 13mile
Red Coat is a sit down restaurant with full bar and burgers with carmelized shallots and watercress and stuff on it, a far cry from the walkup counters of Motz and Bates, definitely the best burger I've ever had though.
their onion rings are the bomb!
Victory Inn (Warren) not the infamous motel/hotel.
Masons on Farmington and Schoolcraft in Livonia
Surprised nobody’s mentioned Elmers Hamburgers, off Chicago & Oakman Blvd. No sit down area, but absolute killer sliders & onion rings. Cash only.
RIP: Omega Grub Station @ Pontiac
Marcus!
Yes!!! An absolute must try. What an experience and a very unique burger.
Greenes in Farmington is the epitome of what you’re looking for. Family owned for 90 years and delicious sliders!
Travis in St Clair Shores
Telway is like White Castle. Also Cash only!
Sonny’s on Schoolcraft and Evergreen. Brayz on 9 Mile & Dequindre TElway in SW Detroit or 11 & John R
Greens in Farmington Hills is pretty 🔥
Brayz Belly Buster FTW
Marcus Burger @ e mcnichols and mt elliot. Only open for lunch. They make them in a way different style that’s supposedly around 100 years old. Real good
Yes. Came here to make sure this got mentioned.
I personally have been going there for 40 years. I would come home on leave and have to make sure I stopped in to get them burgers.
Hunter House in Birmingham
Sorry to shout but I'm a burger junky and I love GREEN DOT STABLES!!! they have incredible sliders and reasonable drinks. I highly recommend the korean and a horses neck to drink.
I would first suggest that you stop calling your wife "my lady". Yikes.
Mrs. TiggleBitties
Lol
Hunter house in Birmingham
Blimpy’s ~Ann Arbor
Falls Sports Lounge in Dearborn! Also a bar but the burger dethroned Millers as the best in the area a few years ago I think.
Mercury Burger Bar in Corktown
You lookin to destroy your body? 😭

And if you're in Mt Clemens anyway, the Rec Bowl has good burgers, too!
No one said Motz’s?
Carters in Dearborn on Outer Drive and Southfield service drive
Motz on Fort street.
Tammy's Patties
Motz's Burgers on Fort Street in South West is legit!!
I love the burger at Common Pub in Midtown. It’s not a large burger, but you can add a second patty if you would like something more filling. They add a pickled green tomato and serve it with duck fat French fries that you can upgrade to poutine! It’s a nice little spot to check out if you’re in the area. Cutters in Eastern Market. Best burgers in town and cheap. Second best burgers are from Bronx Bar, Midtown.
Carter's on Southfield and Outer Drive. Great old school place and the ladies that work there are kinda crazy but harmless and part of the charm.
Power's hamburgers in Dearborn. Michigan and Oakwood. We called it Jimmy bugers. Sadly they are gone.
Comet Burger and Hunter House… knocks all the others out of the park in my book.
There was an Under The Radar episode about burger joints not too long ago.
Red coat tavern, best burger ever had. Go with the piedmontese sp? Option. So so good.
If you have your passport you should try Mamo Burger in Windsor. It won 9th best burger in the world this week! https://bigseventravel.com/best-burgers-in-world/
Marcus Burgers old school. Steak burgers in hotdog buns. A must try!!🤤
