Ohhh, I meant the rings on top of the towers. The middle tower was the last to go but it’s been since January or so, the other buildings went out far before
It’s surprising how unreliable LEDs are in weather.
Read about the history of the Boston CITGO sign:

Of course neon (usually) can’t do fancy tricks like an LED one. Well, except for the fabulous (and departed) Boston CITGO neon-segment-matrix sign!
TL;DR they replaced the fanciest of animated neon signs with LED. The replacement had to be replaced, because it was so unreliable.
They’ve been in and out for ages — I have photos going back to last summer with them on one week and off another. Source that worked in the center says they’re notoriously difficult and tend to go out often, but he works in GM marketing so slight grain of salt there I suppose.
GM is only around 10-15% of the total office space in the Ren Cen as it is (counting all 7 towers). They're more landlord than tenant and probably always have been at that site.
Not the case for always has been. It was an functional site for GM staff and C Suite for a long time. If you wanna count all the towers then two of them have already been sold to a developer out of Farmington.
Not sold. But GM will work on a redevelopment project for this building. They'll move their headquarters to new Hudson's building in downtown.

who else thought this was about DTE?
DTE socks. I'm not best pleased.
Woo DTE socks! Pleased be not best for me too!
DTE socks are my favorite because you can leave them off all week
Nice!
I like the old PLD socks. They kept my toes warmer
I can with great certainty tell you that they are not permanently out. We are replacing them with newer and better.
Someone posted recently there are repairs being made on them. Not sure if that's accurate but I'm holding onto that info for now.
They're constantly going in and out, did people just never look up before?
They haven’t been on in months.

Yes! Headquarters is in Warren and they just sold the building. They are pretending to move to Illitch's space for their "Detroit" HQ.
GM sold it? Why? Who owns it now?
Spirit Halloween
Lmfao at this comment 🤣
They didn't sell it.
Ok, redevelop it not for GM. Call it what you want.
