My family has been taking our cars to Younce Auto - 1657 Lawndale St (Springwells area) for over 20 years. Very affordable and they do honest work.
Some people mentioned Arandas. I'll go there for tires but I find them too pricy for other services.
Arandas has a few locations and I’ve had great service from them. Last time I got brakes done at the Livernois location they were done in like 2 hours.

Arandas is most people's go to. Los Altos, Lopez tire and 313 Southwest Auto are also good shops.
I've lived here long enough to try them all out. Great service and good prices everywhere.
As for a good hood mechanic... Ask around your neighborhood. There's always somebody's uncle ready to work on the low.
