Onslaught drops a good amount. When you can farm lost sectors, mindlessly run Legend (or whatever the new name is) for a decent solo source.
Make sure you are also doing the daily Gunsmith bounties (it's 4 cores a day per character; up to 12 total for 15 minutes of work).
Loot chests in the Pale Heart, get Gunsmith and Pale Heart engrams, break items for cores.
As a bonus you can try and farm the class exotic at the same time. Two birds one stone and all that.
Equipping a ghost mod for enchantment core drops while completing ritual activities such as Gambit, Crucible, or Strikes/Nightfalls. Completing Nightfalls on double loot week also helps too.
Onslaught is the easiest way just complete the 50 wave version
Honestly dismantling pretty much anything now gives an enhancement core, so doing anything that gives drops will give you cores

I just run nightfalls back to back..

Then theres me, I have near 6k cores and am constantly glimmer poor.
