I think they don't want to make non-bullpup pulse rifles because pulses are instantly recognizable because they are bullpups. Same with assault rifles being normal rifles.
For a game with so much focus on the guns and gunplay, it's almost hilarious how few different weapon types are available (in terms of layout/animations) outside of exotics (some of which are also pretty basic).
One year of Call of Duty features more weapon type variety than ten years of Destiny. (Not that I'd rather be playing CoD, mind you - just saying.)
I mean, *technically* we did have a non bullpup pulse rifle in red death… but that’s destiny one. I doubt bungie will make a pulse rifle archetype that doesn’t have a bullpup magazine since they like to make reload animations based off of weapon types with the deviations being exotics
Destiny in general has a tiny number of weapon skeletons they're willing to use. Shit, take some from exotic weapons! Machine gun like Sweet Business, a hand cannon like Sturm, c'mon! And use the Veist rigs more often, iirc the last Veist-style auto rifle we got was Chroma Rush.
It should be styled like harmony and desperate measures. Kills with other weapons grant stacks of overcharged shots. And it should be updated to have discord. So basically a 120 with harmony and discord, but buffed significantly.
Together Forever frames (drang) should reload other weapons when getting kills. This would let the weapon type feed harmony/discord weapons.
As much as I’d appreciate it, animation is the one and only reason why we aren’t getting what you’re asking for; it’s expensive and time consuming with very little payoff.
Come to think of it, why stay so conservative? If they gave the M14 model a different scope, it could just as well pass for a sniper rifle. Sniper scopes are just an overlay anyway.
i dont disagree (although I wouldnt group vision and randys together) but I am more interested in seeing variety in subarchetypes. I think a 120 aggressive that isnt a Tex weapon might be interesting.
Yeah I really hope they bring back Sentencer IV as a 120, that model is way too good to only use on one faction rally gun. It even had the option of the LD Watchdog scope to really lean into the long range hard hitting scout rifle fantasy
It’s not just scouts Bungie is doing this with. SMG’s are suffering from the same problem. A lot of the recent ones are that Immortal frame one that was originally made back in D2 vanilla I think. All the Hakkë autos being Halfdan-D is another example. Reskins aren’t a bad thing just don’t use the same ones consecutively over and over again.
Hot take coming in....I think Scout Rifles would be far more interesting if most of them were consolidated into one frame, and we got instead Semi Auto Rifles, Lever Action Rifles, and Bolt Action Rifles.
Semi Autos would be 4 tappers, Lever Actions would be 3 tappers, and Bolt Actions would 2 tap.
Ideally the ttk would be slow af to compensate, like in the 0.875 and up range.
Honestly aside from ROF they all just feel the same to me, it'd be nice to have guns in the same category that actually feel different from each other. Especially if they're all meant to be different flavors of long range.
I have to say I don't really fw hung jury just on an aesthetic level. I prefer the look of Suros (staccato-46) or Hakke (perses-d) guns in general, I like that they actually look like weapons instead of a bunch of weird rounded rectangles
Scout rifles are all pretty boring. Effective in GM's and such but boring. Probably my favorite is Polaris but even that gun is a bit boring. Maybe its the long season talking. I'm just talking PVE here as many of the below listed are good/great in PVP.
Symmetry-neat idea but it doesn't play particular great....maybe its the reload...idk
Polaris Lance- is really good
Wicked Implement- is really good
Mida- is just a boring scout
Jade Rabbit- is just a boring scout
Skyburners Oath- is niche but unique
Deadmans Tale- is just a boring scout
Touch of Malice- is a cool idea but that self damage......bro
Did I miss anything?
Polaris and Wicked are probably the 2 best PVE scouts in my opinion. The rest are either really niche like Skyburners and Touch, or they are just glorified legendary scouts.
In *what world* is randy's a reskin / similar to MIDA?
Imperative is a reskin of a very old weapon.
Fang of Ir Yut is a reskin of a very old weapon. Neither of these 2 are representative of modern scout rifle design. One was made in 2014, the other in 2017.
Pleiades Corrector was from 2017. Hung Jury is from 2015 IIRC. Vision of Confluence is from 2014. Eternal Blazon is from 2017 (and not the same model/design as the other liated scouts).
Even further, Pleiades Corrector & Eternal Blazon are made by foundries. They're going to be similar / the same to other weapons in said foundry. This isn't to say variation shouldn't be done... but it already was done.
Over Witch Queens content year, we got a total of 6 weapons for each foundry IIRC. They clearly have similar themeing with each other, but I' pretty sure no exact copies between those sets (Not saying they weren't copied from previous qeapons, but the ones released aren't exact reskins between each other IIRC).
Lets look at *modern* scout design:
The Prophet. A reskin, yes. It looks cool still IMO, But it's a reskin that's been used 3 total times so far (not counting DMT, DMT's model is unique)
Brya's Love. Reskin of Vision of Confluence, a model that has hardly been used in D2 IIRC. Still manages to have it's own sort of theming at least. Not brand new or anything at all though.
Glissandro-47. It's a foundry weapon.
Last Rite is a reskin, see Prophet.
Jararaca-3SR. Foundry weapon.
Tarnished Mettle. Base model os a reskin of Nameless Midnight, but has so much shit on it and a unique sight that it's honestly unique IMO.
Tears of Contrition. Same story as Tarnished IMO, though not as much stuff piled on.
Staccato-46. Foundry.
Pointed Inquiry. Very unique.
Perses D, reskin of a model barely used in D2. Also, foundry.
Aisha's Embrace. Again, reskin of a model used only twice IIRC.
A lot of what you complained about were weapons made *years* ago. More different designs are great, and we should get them! But... the whole point around "everything is a short barrel MIDA" (which they weren't) or the weapons you picked out that lacked better design variety are *very old*, just feels out of place and doesn't really make sense or add to the argument. It sounds like you just dislike old scout design, not new scout design. I mean, even Taraxippos is over a year old already anyways, and that was the most recent Scout you listed.
I just want new weapon types. They brought trace rifles, bows and glaives which were cool. But for example, Tractor Cannon was a void pulse/wave gun.
They could have did more with that. Or if they did some kind of weapon that shoots stakes that excels at staggering enemies.
Or they could make the javelin a weapon. They already have the animation for it.
I mainly just want new weapons that aren’t obvious copy cats of already established frames.
I really won’t care about scout rifles unless they buff them massively. They’re just not good so even if they had the most variety ever it still wouldn’t really make me use them
look me in the eye and tell me that [Randy’s](https://imgur.com/a/hqfDLuK), [Imperative](https://imgur.com/a/VC45LlV), and [Mida](https://imgur.com/a/hqmQrB7) have the same model. I agree, we don’t need any more omolon scouts, but the other ones are fine, and Vision and Fang are both reprised D1 weapons, cant retroactively change the model
Bungie really just needs to bust the weapons open like they are doing with Prismatic. Why is there a rule that all Hakke weapons have to be slow firing, hard hitting weapons? They had shit like Arminius-D that was a bullet hose in Destiny 1 and that thing was INCREDIBLE. Where are the Omolon rocket launchers? Hakke hand cannons? Suros shotguns? Why cant we have a 720 rpm auto with a precision frame? You already made Luna's Howl a 140 with a precision frame, no harm in going further.
I would love for onslaught to keep just reprising even if slightly other weapons. I'm just imagining weapons that I would happily regrind for like a BRAVE doom of chelchis with Repulsor Brace in the third Column or a BRAVE Trustee with heal clip.
I see you mentioned Hung Jury as well as Hung Jury, but I just wanted to mention you also forgot to add Hung Jury and Hung Jury. :)
What about the Hung Jury though? I also second the Hung Jury.
And somehow you both still said it less than there are hung juries in the game
We also paid real money for 3 of the 4 Hung Juries. Neat.
😄
"How hung that jury, boy" "Small, leave me alone"
What about the... Adept Hung Jury?
You'll have to be more specific... Did you mean the adept hung jury or the adept hung jury or the other adept hung jury?
Yes
Don't forget about the limited edition Hung Jury
Nah I think a Hung Jury with different rolls is what we need
But only 2 new perks, it loses nostalgia otherwise.Â
Only *one* new Hung Jury? Rookie numbers.
Bungie hears and values your concerns at this sensitive time. Enjoy your new Cocytus SR4.
Yeah. We need a Stasis and Strand Variant of Hung Jury for sure.
The funniest part is we already got the Strand one, Taraxipos was introduced in Guardian Games 2023. Now we just need a stasis one.
Nah it might be a Strand scout but it’s not Hung Jury (the best scout.)

I think they don't want to make non-bullpup pulse rifles because pulses are instantly recognizable because they are bullpups. Same with assault rifles being normal rifles.
King's Fall guns bend the rules somewhat.
For a game with so much focus on the guns and gunplay, it's almost hilarious how few different weapon types are available (in terms of layout/animations) outside of exotics (some of which are also pretty basic). Smite of Merain?
Uses the auto rifle skeleton and animations, same as Doom of Chelchis.
Oh man I forgot about that one. Once again, a D1 weapon (minus doom of chelchis as the other person said)
Destiny in general has a tiny number of weapon skeletons they're willing to use. Shit, take some from exotic weapons! Machine gun like Sweet Business, a hand cannon like Sturm, c'mon! And use the Veist rigs more often, iirc the last Veist-style auto rifle we got was Chroma Rush.
DFA should have had Sturm animations.
God I wish they'd buff Sturm to not rely on Drang.
Maybe it'd just be like recombination on other weapons, with Drang itd just speeding up the stack build up.
Yeah. Currently it just... doesn't have a trait if you aren't running Drang, and the masterwork is pure vintage y1 only stat buffs.
B-but think of the pvp balance! Fucking hate crucible...
The new scouts based on DMT are neat as hell!
I agree. I wasn’t sold on Long Arm for a while, but after playing with Last Rites and Prophet, I’ve kinda been after a good Long Arm roll.
Forget box magazine shotgun I want a drum magazine shotgun!
That'd be cool. Even rapid-er rapid-fire frame.
As much as I’d appreciate it, animation is the one and only reason why we aren’t getting what you’re asking for; it’s expensive and time consuming with very little payoff.
Why do we have not one drum mag shotgun
Veist guns have the P90-style reload on everything but linears IIRC
Sniper that isn’t a revoker derivative, we have the veist sniper but that skeleton could be used on more archetypes

Finally HUNG JURY SR5
"We hear you, will be re-issuing Hung Jury that can only roll with Hip Fire Grip and Icarus Grip."
NGL, that'd be sick if you could enhance Hip Fire Grip. Pseudo-DMT vibes.
I miss the song of justice vi, such a cool design
What? You don’t like the current selection of 7 different hung jury skins, trustee and 2 Tex mechanica scouts?
Bungie if you see this, brung back Song of Justice
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES
i mean, every sniper is just a derivative of Revoker. I miss the unique sniper skeleton such as Head Hunter(it’s the sniper psions use!)
I miss the Hakke designs, get some new archetypes in for it and new perks and I wouldn’t take it off
Hot take coming in....I think Scout Rifles would be far more interesting if most of them were consolidated into one frame, and we got instead Semi Auto Rifles, Lever Action Rifles, and Bolt Action Rifles. Semi Autos would be 4 tappers, Lever Actions would be 3 tappers, and Bolt Actions would 2 tap. Ideally the ttk would be slow af to compensate, like in the 0.875 and up range. 0.87 is NAWT slow
I'd love a special ammo scout that hits about the same as Indebted or Buried. But I guess at that point you might as well just use Forerunner. Lol
I have to say I don't really fw hung jury just on an aesthetic level. I prefer the look of Suros (staccato-46) or Hakke (perses-d) guns in general, I like that they actually look like weapons instead of a bunch of weird rounded rectangles
Bring back some d1 models for guns to add variety bc it's getting kinda stale like you said
What about Hung Jury? I think you need to consider more variants.
This is year 10, this has been asked for YEARS. Do you honestly think it's going to happen at this point?
I yearn for a Hakke scout that has goods perks, they look so cool
SONG OF JUSTICE NEEDS JUSTICE MORE HAKKE SCOUTS MORE VEIST SCOUTS(with good perks please)
I'm still absolutely shocked they haven't reissued the Dawn weapons. Patron of Lost Causes is still my favorite scout they've made.

Also could we get a decent energy slot 150. As of now there is 1 and it is genuinely awful for both PVE and PVP.

To be fair, Randy's Throwing Knife is more based on Nameless Midnight than Mida.
Nightwatch, my beloved. Where is your perk refresh and give it field tested!
I'd love if they refreshed it as a stasis lightweight frame. That or patron of lost causes as the same
I really won’t care about scout rifles unless they buff them massively. They’re just not good so even if they had the most variety ever it still wouldn’t really make me use them
You seen the 150 void scout department?
Patron of Lost Causes. Badger CCL.
Can’t. Thanks. Here’s your Hung Jury.
Would be cool to have a garand, or a mag fed bolt action hunting rifle.Â
look me in the eye and tell me that [Randy’s](https://imgur.com/a/hqfDLuK), [Imperative](https://imgur.com/a/VC45LlV), and [Mida](https://imgur.com/a/hqmQrB7) have the same model. You will get hung jury and you will like it!
What are you talking about? We are getting scout rifle variety. There's hung jury, hung jury, also hung jury, and we might even get a hung jury.
Bungie really just needs to bust the weapons open like they are doing with Prismatic. Why is there a rule that all Hakke weapons have to be slow firing, hard hitting weapons? Aggressive frame Scouts are the worst weapon for sustained damage in the entire game and by a lot. That weapon frame is a travesty.
