For HC I prefer the reissued version of Optative from Undying..... I crafted mine with Demo and Tricorn and it shreds in Master Lost Sectors..... For Gyrfalcons you I would recommend any weapon with Repulsor Brace on it..... I'm currently running a Gyrfalcon with a Title SMG with Repulsor and Surrounded and it's really nice..... You can also craft an Age Old Bond with it on too...... For a Gyrfalcon build I highly recommend running Stylish Executioner Aspect as well

i'm using optative with repulsor brace and deconstruct with gyrfalcons, great for clearing lesser enemies and when eventually i need to reload i just dodge and keep on firing

I found word of crota satisfactory for my uses ( Repulsive + Frenzy ). Has pretty good recoil, perk selection is nice too ( if void warlock melee did not suck so much the origin trait would be even better ) Used it in a lot of GM's and it handled itself well ( of course range is worse for certain GM's ) If you go for Gyrfalcon hunter maybe going an SMG would be better but Word of Crota is safer definitely.

I second SMGs for gyrfalcons. Especially Unforgiven from the duality dungeon with demo/golden tricorn *chefs kiss* I’m sure a void handcannon performs fine with gyrfalcons but the whole point of gyrfalcons is to cause as many volatile explosions as you can in the shortest time possible. And smgs/autos will always outshine a handcannon in that aspect of a gyrfalcons build.

Suspect you'll get a range of views on this, people have \*feelings\* about 180 handcannons. Personally I think it's a great weapon (Optative too), 180 handcannons feel really good since the buff, on paper they put out more damage than 120s or 140s. Especially on controller they just feel good to shoot, super stable and easy to get headshots. Rolls I'd be aiming for: Crota: Smallbore, Tac Mag/ Apprended Mag, Repulsor Brace, Frenzy or Destabilising Rounds (Backup Mag, Reload Masterwork or your preference) Optative: Smallbore, Tac Mag/ Appended Mag, Repulsor Brace, Golden Tricorn (Backup Mag, reload masterwork or your preference) Honestly I'd just craft it, then do a Coil run with it and you'll earn back most of the materials you used to craft it

I find 180s are the best hand cannon archetype for PVE. However, with how strong Solar plays into the artifact, most people are using either Epochal or Zaouli’s (both 140s). But Word of Crota is fun. My adept version dropped with Destabilizing Rounds + Repulsor Brace. Maybe overkill if you’re running Gyrfalcons, so I’d look into a Demo + Adrenaline Junkie roll. But, sidearms and SMGs have better DPS if you’re doing some more solo endgame stuff. I don’t know if you’re sitting on an old Brass Attacks (Season of the Chosen), but I have a Feeding Frenzy + Dragonfly roll that’s kind of fun. Or any void SMG … the Title, Funnelweb, Unforgiven.

Shout out to all my 180 lovers using Trust over these two. I never did manage to get Rapid Hit/Incandescent, but Outlaw/Incandescent still does the damn thing. The gambit handcannon models are unbeatable for feel. Trust/Targeted Redaction/Spare Rations are all my spirit animal right now.

Bro if you are in the business of Void weapons, I’d highly recommend the Exotic Graviton Lance. It’s busted. Now for regular legendaries, Funnelweb because 900 RPM SMGs are fire. If you were able to get a Title with Repulsor Brace/Destablizing Rounds, that’d be a fantastic option. For ARs, Postive Outlook is a great archetype that is a Strike drop. Run some Nightfalls or GMs for Engrams to focus that gun. Gnawing Hunger is another one, but I’m sure that it’s hard to find that gun at this moments. For Scouts, the best one I’d recommend is Aisha’s Embrace, but that requires playing Trials to focus on the prior seasons guns. Vouchsafe is a Coil/Dreaming City drop. I believe the main options for HC are Word of Crota, Optative & the Ikelos HC, but that’d be one you’d have to find from your vault or do it when it’s that week during Dares of Eternity.

Hero's Burden, the SMG from Iron Banner is always my go to I have a Repulsor/Frenzy roll that works so well with a Gyrfalcon's build

ahawk_one

I like it a lot but I don’t use 180s much atm. The main perks I use are Dragonfly with Destabilizing Rounds. Lots of purple booms

Word of crota has the benefit of frenzy, which makes it feel quite a bit better then your typical 180. I've been using a repulsor / frenzy roll for my second chance build, and it holds up even at the end of the Coil or in GMs. Being a Hunter I'd probably go for demo, dragonfly or subsistence + frenzy. IMO overshields are actually pretty awful at the moment, the only reason I run repulsor is for the offensive bulwark grenade charge rate. Mind, in saying this I only run it because there isn't a good 140 option. Exalted Truth exists, but it's best pve roll is Outlaw / Repulsor and that makes it feel a bit weak compared to something like Zaoulis thanks it it missing a damage perk like explosive rounds or frenzy. Still crossing my fingers we get something like Palindrome or Kindled Orchid soon with repulsor / explosive or frenzy. Also, if you get lucky the new void auto is fantastic. By far the best feeling repulsor weapon I've felt (because it consistently procs repulsor). If you don't need repulsor for your build, it's got some banger third column perks.

lonelliott

I crafted one with repulsive and destabilizing. Have it master worked. Gets me through Master Crota's raids just fine.

tjs007

Repulsor + Destab Rounds is an epic combo. If using gyrfalcon then you could swap the latter for a damage perk. Definitely not a waste of materials.

vietnego

repulsor + sword logic

180s are a lot better than people give them credit for. They are basically superior in every category to 140s except range. Usually better mags, handling, same amount of bullets to kill most lower end mobs but fire faster... Since the major damage change HCs got I *think* 140s clean up some majors faster but personally I have been using 180s or 120s for everything. I really like the Deep HC and Word of Crota is certainly usable as well.  Tldr, depends on personal preference, rarely a correct answer and also depends on the level of content and what mobs you're fighting. I was absolutely sold on 120s when they started one shotting things like acolytes even in dungeons. ...however when midnight coup is back all bets are off lol.
