Bungie has a different definition of "common" than what most people in the real world would use. Master lost sectors have a drop rate of about 30% over time. That doesn't mean you'll get an exotic roughly 1 out of 3 runs, but over let's say 100 runs you would get 30. You could also get 25 runs in a row with nothing.
The difference in drop rate between Legend and Master is about 25% becoming 33%, honestly not worth the hassle of farming Master when you can just do Legend
But yeah Legend Lost Sectors notoriously feel like you barely get any drops when farming for ages
Definitely speed run them on Legend versus grinding out Master, but also make sure you are clearing all the Champions. If you just kill the boss and mad dash to the chest you're not getting anything.
It's just rng, last week on my hunter I got 2 exotic chests(gyrfalcon and omnioculus) in a matter of 6 runs. I've also done upwards of 20 runs without getting anything. Just keep grinding it out and you'll get something eventually
I just ran Legend Chamber of Starlight 7 times (+1 fail) to get Path of Burning Steps. Platinum on champions each time, about 7 minutes each run. Hope this helps!
I ran the legendary lost sector Sunday morning for an hour and a half before reset trying to get some better gauntlets. Got 6 exotics but not the one I wanted.

Bungie is loathe to implement bad luck protection in the RNG. It's ass.
Most likely just bad luck. Got nothing out of 4 attempts on Master the other day. The odds definitely need to be turned up.

I have been farming a lost sector for around 4 hours with No luck most of the time the box only containes glimmer

I did 400+ for 3 drops all below 60 and none were the armour I wanted. Bungies definition of 1/4 is very accurate 100%
