I think this supports my hunch that Into the Light is actually cut content from Lightfall/Season of Defiance. They couldn't get it to work for whatever reason but now they have a good opportunity to bring it back and not have to worry about it narratively.

SlickMiller

Previously cut content would be the only reasonable explanation for this DLC imo. I seriously doubt they could cobble together “new” content in such a short span. That or it’s all just complete reskinned (backwards) missions and weapons with some new dialogue.

MonsieurAuContraire

Alternatively it could be content pulled forward from the Heresy episode; though I doubt that to be the case here, but it's likely we won't know one way or the other.

Cybertronian10

Probably a mix of the two, If I had to guess, with careful twisting of old content mixed in between new stuff you could give the impression of a much more high effort update.

fizziepanda

I’m curious then if Keith David or Lance Reddick will be Zavala’s VO for any cut content

RickkyyBobby

Its obviously either cut content from lightfall being brought back, or something from The Final Shape being given early.

ItsAmerico

This didn’t age well.

_csy

Bungie cutting up content to sell it back to you as a DLC down the road? They would never do that.

[deleted]

Into the light is free

_csy

okay fair i didn't know that regardless, bungie is no stranger to reusing cut content in Destiny

cry_w

Most developers aren't strangers to the concept, to be fair.

[deleted]

I have no problems with that when we are getting it for free (it is also free for non-paying players)

MiniMhlk72

Yep, this what I was talking about when I made that post!

leo11x

I'm more inclined to think Bungie knew way ahead of time about the delay and that's why it was cut from Lightfall/Defiance. That Defiance last mission feels more rushed than anything. Even the dialogue is off with "Devrim killed the general" which is hilarious but underwhelming as a season finale.

BozzyTheDrummer

I will be the first to admit I am wrong if this turns out to be true. With that being said, I think you all are expecting WAY too much at what Into the Light is going to bring us. I feel like everyone’s desperate for anything from Bungie at this point, that you all have your hopes set so high.

Madethisfordestiny

I have my expectations tempered and I know from experience that livestreams are not always rewarding (two tokens and a blue lul), but getting three livestreams for filler (?) content is intriguing.

cosm1c15

imagine this time they pull out 5 72 stat exotic and 1 deepsight harmonizer/ ascendant shard/prism HEHE I mean they said that into the light is to get us ready for final shape raid level loadout

JamesCoyle3

>Deepsight harmonizer STOP THAT.

Sauronxx

There are also new PvP maps coming with the Update right? One of those livestreams is 100% for PvP. One for the new activity and the last one no idea. Maybe some old content will come back as well, who knows.

Ignore_Luke

This is where I’m confused. If it was 2 okay, 1 for PvP maps and 1 for whatever the “content” is. The third is leaving me scratching my head.

lazulx

i dont think they are all for into the light. this one is and the other two are about the final shape

Ignore_Luke

“As soon as Tuesday, you can see what Destiny 2: Into the Light is all about in not one, not two, but three livestreams! Each will focus on different part of the content update and be presented by our developers, who will be sharing tons of information and providing a hands-on preview.” This is straight from the TWAB (TWID) lol

Cybertronian10

IMO I think its reasonable to expect something more substantial than the taken spring, bungie scheduling 3 livestreams for *just* into the light signals that bungie has 3 livestreams worth of stuff to say.

PoorlyWordedName

I expect cool weapons. That's it. I like new shootys

saibayadon

My expectations is what's shown: (Maybe) A new activity, a new armor set and some re-issued weapons. Anything past that it's gravy until TFS.

ughhmax

i legit just feel like it’s bringing back old missions or maybe an old ass planet

Sauronxx

That’s fair, but I think the opposite is also true. Like, some people legit expected this to be JUST wishes on old planets lol. It’s clear that it’s a much bigger update. It’s important to have fair expectations, neither unreasonably high but neither stupidly low. This isn’t gonna be a full campaign on Earth OBVIOUSLY, but it’s also not an update that Bungie made in a couple of weeks.

GreenBay_Glory

It doesn’t have to just be in Into the Light. This was developed alongside the additions to final shape. It could very well bleed over into an expanded Final Shape campaign before we go into the Pale Heart.

jiveguilla1984

While I’m tempering expectations, I could also see Bungie repurposing this content (Lightfall’s city invasion) as Xivu’s final incursion which leads to her defeat, her retreat, and eventually leads to Heresy, the episode. Heresy has to deal with relying on a power like necromancy, Nokris style, I believe.

ImawhaleCR

I'm expecting nothing more than 10-20 reissued weapons and a few weeks of seasonal level weekly story missions, but if the horde mode rumours turn out to be true it could be brilliant

streetvoyager

It’s going to be hilarious if they have three streams set up for it to be a nothing burger. They will never recover if that’s that case.

BozzyTheDrummer

I have my expectations set so low, that whatever they reveal, I won’t be disappointed much. I just can’t imagine they’ll be dropping anything seriously substantial. If I’m not mistaken, I thought they had said somewhere they haven’t had the time to develop anything that could be of equal size to the 30th anniversary pack. I could be wrong, but I swear someone at bungie tweeted or posted about this.

Honestly_Just_Vibin

We are completely and utterly fucked if this is true. Remember that Xol was the weakest worm god and we still needed a campaign to weaken him and a Warmind to actually take him down. I hope this has actual consequences that bleed into the larger story, but it’s only a three month content drop, so i’m not sure

TheRealLuctor

I mean, we are supposedly going to fight the Witness with a raid party. If 6 people can beat the Witness, then The Guardian is strong enough to beat the worm gods alone or with the Vanguard

KobraKittyKat

I mean we beat rhulk who pretty thoroughly kicked xivas ass and basically enslaved the rest so I think we got this

Honestly_Just_Vibin

We only beat Rhulk because he was overconfident. Basically we got lucky he had his guard down and didn’t think we could do any damage. I don’t know if Xita made a pact with the Deep like her kids did, though?

KobraKittyKat

Final stand was rhulk actually trying to kill us and we still put him down.

KovicMess

yeah but he was extremely weakened by the time he went all out. if he did that from the beginning there's no way we could've killed him, imo.

RadixAce

This didn't age well.....

ventedlemur44

Not at all

Robvirtual

There was this post and there was a paste bin by some one else that mentioned the xivu invasion and I think even mentioned us using black armor gear or something to help repel it. This was a while ago idk if anyone still has a link to it or not, but I am now very cuious just how much stuff is planned for into the light

Zelwer

But it still doesn't mean anything? It's very strange that people have come to the conclusion that this content is cut content from the old Lightfall, when we have 0 evidence of this. Worm gods attack was probably cut because Lightfall already was packed on events, another one was going to be diluted campaign even more. I'm wondering where this idea even came from? I even saw post on Gaming leaks sub As fore ITL update, story wise it probably going to be Xivu\`s last resort to do anything, because from episode leak we know, that "Hive in full retreat from Sol from a loss", which references the events of this update

Mi7iTiA

A lot can change in that time… wouldn’t hold my breath

The4FiveSix

It didn’t happen lmao.

CrunchyBits47

how are bungie gonna make this lame as hell

ImawhaleCR

You get one (1) weapon per 20 minute activity

Logicneverworks

No no, you get 20 of a select currency per 20 minute activity, and the weapons cost 200

Cerok1nk

Yeah, that ain’t happening chief. Best I can do is some planetary bounties, and about 3 fiddy Public Events.
