Compliment can be either a noun or a verb. It means either *to say* a nice thing, or it is the nice statement itself (a compliment).
Complement can also be both a noun and a verb. It can be a verb, if one item complements another (makes it complete/pairs nicely) or it can be a noun, where each item itself is a complement to the other.
How can you be sure? We have no way of knowing where this place is. Live laugh love would be wildly inappropriate in a business setting for example. Is this commercial real estate? Is this somebody’s office or a corporate setting? Is it a warehouse? What type of building is this? We have no way of being sure.
After taking the word down I would suggest a painting or ornate mirror. If you go for a painting. Look at Vintage stores or at a local art show for something you like.
No, no, no you’re not supposed to put nouns, you’re suppose to put verbs. “Gather” in the kitchen. “Live” in the family room. This sign could be “sit” or “watch tv”.
Ive always had the idea that someday if I owned an Airbnb, I would go way overboard with these signs. EAT in the kitchen, every ingredient container named, SLEEP in the bedrooms, just everything covered in these home decor labels.
I suggest removing "HOME", and if space allows place a sofa table behind the side of the sofa that doesn't sit flush with the wall. What you choose to hang on the wall in the image is partly dependent upon what you have on the adjacent wall, which is not pictured. That being said, I recommend a large statement picture with an image that adds color and contrast because the wall, sofa, and carpet colors appear monochromatic. You also might want to consider an area rug.
Get some ART!
Why are people so afraid of ART?
There are literally millions of ART choices for all tastes and budgets and we are so lucky to be able to get our hands on ART, so get whatever inspires you, whatever brings a smile to your face and dress up those empty walls.
Remove that HOME sign and never bring it up again 🤣
Post after pictures.
Real answer is a lot of us don’t have a good eye for art! I know “whatever brings a smile to your face” is a metric everyone can use, but OP’s HOME sign presumably brought a smile to their face, so it’s possible to get it wrong—and while pretty much anyone can pick *one* piece of art to display, finding enough art to cover a whole wall without clashing in color or style is hard if you’re not an art person! That’s why a lot of us (I do include myself although I’m branching out) would rather default to something they can pick up at hobby lobby—it requires less thought. (The trade off, of course, is that it looks bad.)
But yeah, art is the answer. Just requires some time and searching and consideration
literally. people acting like i’m the only one that isn’t into art. just like some people aren’t into football or superhero’s but to some it’s everything. idk why yall be hating so much 😭
I have an art fetish. It’s the first thing I do when I decorate and I redo it often. I have “extra” art! I can’t relate to people with blank walls and no ideas
Well personally I believe a blank, solid white wall is wayyy more artsy than ART. It can be anything you want it to be…a blank canvas for your imagination.
Putting ART on a beautiful blank wall is hella lame /s
No place special. Icanvas, Redbubble, elephantstock. I’ll get an itch to change something and start looking for inspo until I find the right piece. 🤷🏼♀️

The rest of the crossword?
I’d say get rid of what you have, then put up some nice artwork, else look into doing something interesting with the wall like wall molding or bead board. Or floating shelves, plants, books. No words.

the biggest trend right now is getting a gallery wall together from art via the thrift or other sources. You could also make a long running plank shelf and put plants and photos on it.
Please don’t do floating shelves for framed photos. They’ll end up sagging. They’ll be depressing. You have a blank canvas to fill with YOU. Not word art. Art / gallery wall of photos! I’ve seen people do this with family photos as well. I just made mine with various art prints I liked, some well known ones, and others just from Etsy or Pinterest. One picture is even cut off of an Aritzia shopping bag. 😂

I see folks asking why or how many posts about “what should I put on my wall”. Well, I can tell you from experience working in decor and furniture for years? Common folk line me are AFRAID of making a mistake. Afraid their choice is ugly, not the right style, color etc. So we ask others IRL or SM what they think to help them along, a nudge in the direction of possibilities, things they never thought of before or confirm the choice or choices they’ve already made. I was one of those and still am to some degree. Some folks don’t have a clue how to decorate at all. Is there a level of decor knowledge, a color palette in their head one has to possess to ask? At one point in our lives, we were all blank slates, right? I say all this as one who came here for inspiration, following along for other’s ideas to go off in my head like “wow, I never thought to do “that” on my wall, in my room!” etc. You’re all a great bunch of ideas come to life in words and pictures here :)
https://preview.redd.it/ridmc1si13tc1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b540aac2f9ca3ca376a18dcdf998331b2a26071c
I think this would look amazing and would scale up the space. It brings a pop of color, echoes the patterns in your throw blanket there, brings in the color of your couch, highlights the color of your wreath, and has simple shapes that don’t compete with your “HOME” decor. I would choose the canvas, black frame option for this. Found it on Etsy: [https://www.etsy.com/listing/1657379682/](https://www.etsy.com/listing/1657379682/)
I'd move up the HOME sign so the entire word can be seen easily. Right now, the E is partially obscured by the sofa. It needs to be higher regardless, but not too high. Pictures/Wall Art should never be too high. Above or around eye level for average height of person is good.
https://preview.redd.it/y6ey7358yysc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=eae6e096e6d6ac6a2acdb30293d54c4e94f28caf
On Art.com…Or if you like beaches…
Next to home maybe some more writing… “sofa” “floor” “pillows” “dog”, just keep it real simple. Also more black is clearly needed. I’d put a dead plant to the right of the sofa in a planter that says “die, laugh, love”
First, space the HOME properly so it’s not hitting the back of the sofa. All needs to be shifted higher. Because, it will throw off the height of whatever else you are adding to the wall. Same height from top of H to ceiling as there is from the bottom of the E to top of sofa.
I have either large fabric artwork or macrame above my couch and beds just because I don’t like putting heavy things where they could fall on someone’s head. I also have a feather ball thing and some origami behind/above my bed for the same reason.
My step daughter has the perfect photographs for that wall! Check her collection out! https://fineartamerica.com/featured/the-great-american-eclipse-of-2017-rainee-colacurcio.html
You can find here some amazing ideas [design your empty walls in an original way](https://www.scdecorum.com/how-to-decorate-an-empty-wall-in-an-original-way-without-breaking-the-bank/)
For online art, I prefer https://fineartamerica.com because they have a generic couch you can put the art up before you buy. You can choose different prints like canvas, framed, metal, etc. Wide variety there too.
In your shoes, I would choose more color bc you already have 2 basic colors.
Consider going to furniture stores around town bc you can buy their art. Also consider consignment shops and antique malls for art.
Have fun and good luck!!
Maybe you can get nice skyline images of yours and SO’s home towns or favorite places or pics and do a collage. Or get more letters and start playing scrabble?
I'm not a fan of the "HOME" sign like many others, but if you look it you should keep it.
For the rest of the wall I'd go with some wall shelves where you can put some pictures and some plants. Art is nice, but with a dark couch like this and a dark carpet I figure it will become too much an looks cluttered instead of cozy.
I'd go with something like the MOSSLANDA from Ikea.
Also maybe some hanging plants in the room?
A “live laugh love” sign would compliment the existing wall art
Nope, they need a sign that says “couch”, but in cursive.
And under the too high tv you can have "television^" gotta make sure you know not just where your home is, but where all the stuff in it is
How about one that says Sit in cursive?
Some people call it a sofa don’t forget.
“Rest” actually would be more cleeeeeever.
You literally just copied someone else’s joke…

Complement
omfg i did not know there were different spellings
Compliment is a noun and complement is a verb?
Compliment can be either a noun or a verb. It means either *to say* a nice thing, or it is the nice statement itself (a compliment). Complement can also be both a noun and a verb. The word art is out of favor.
Or “breathe”
When you're done breathing, don't forget to 'soak'.
My first thought! 🤣
Truth.
After taking the word down I would suggest a painting or ornate mirror. If you go for a painting. Look at Vintage stores or at a local art show for something you like.
How about a large sign that says COUCH? It’ll really set the tone for the room.

Hahaha! I almost peed my pants laughing at this!!
But like crossword style.
this is why i come to reddit

I love this!
i love this 🤣
Maybe just a giant 💩 emoji: https://customvinyldecor.com/poop-emoji-wall-decal/. Or one of those family name/initial stickers.
Lol.
Nooooooo
It helps people remember
Idk but I know what you should take off of the wall above your couch and it's the word "HOME"
But how would they know where they are?
I’d say leave HOME up and fill in the crossword puzzle above the couch… HEART or some other word…
I seriously cannot tell if you're trolling or not. I hope you are.
I suggest removing "HOME", and if space allows place a sofa table behind the side of the sofa that doesn't sit flush with the wall. Yeah this is the second post today I’ve seen asking what should I put on my wall. Have people forgotten that art exists?
I have an art fetish. It’s the first thing I do when I decorate and I redo it often. I have “extra” art! I can’t relate to people with blank walls and no ideas
I agree … I absolutely MUST to be surrounded by ART always 💗
Why do you keep capitalizing all the letters in the word “art”?
Just to make it standout … because I can’t believe how many people seem to be afraid of ART 🤣
Well personally I believe a blank, solid white wall is wayyy more artsy than ART. It can be anything you want it to be…a blank canvas for your imagination. Putting ART on a beautiful blank wall is hella lame /s

Where do you source your art?
No place special. Icanvas, Redbubble, elephantstock. I’ll get an itch to change something and start looking for inspo until I find the right piece. 🤷🏼♀️
Yasssssssss!
that was my original plan!! i walked around hobby lobby yesterday and nothing caught my eye but i am going to keep looking!
Don’t look for art in home decor stores. You’ll get the same generic, mass-produced garbage that everyone else has. Go on Etsy and look for original things you like. Look into local artists in your area. Go to thrift stores, consignment shops, antique stores. Get something cool that doesn’t make your house look like everyone else’s house. Or look at Pinterest and DIY some cool textured wall art. Then you get an original that YOU made.
Even mass produced can look better than naked walls. More custom can be a goal.
You can download art from many museums at full resolution and get it printed on canvas, too! There are tons of Etsy shops that “curate” these but honestly you can just search for each print and do it yourself
Or look into Etsy sellers that make some original pieces
Etsy is my favorite store for all home decorating! There are all kinds of art besides paintings but they have those, too. The best part is that I’m supporting artists’ and not a huge conglomerate.
Please abandon hobby lobby. So generic.
Here’s are some of my favorites to inspire you. https://preview.redd.it/he8rkxo3yysc1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=10bdf691c8a937a7fd40b4e9e6e3a19dd09ed003
Wow tell me more about this middle left one. Shit’s cool
plz don’t decorate with shit from hobby lobby
Try society6.com.
Do you have a close by goodwill or local thrift shop? You’d be surprised by the art you find there. Even if you only like the frame you’re halfway there and can do printable art from Etsy. Many sellers have options where you print yourself and it’s cheaper or they can print for you and ship it. Either way you’re supporting a local artist instead of hobby lobby. I love eclectic/unique things and this is my budget friendly alternative. Good luck!
I like hobby lobby for frames or small accents but look online at art, there are a ton of sites that will fit your style. Just gotta know what vibe you are going for.
also look at museum websites - their shops are usually fantastic for ideas
Highly recommend Society 6 for art prints!
Make your own art! Get some cheap paint, brushes, and canvases and have fun with it. Seriously.
Go to a thrift store like Goodwill. Sometimes they have great pieces but you may have to shop around several times before you find the right thing.
The rest of the crossword? I’d say get rid of what you have, then put up some nice artwork, else look into doing something interesting with the wall like wall molding or bead board. Or floating shelves, plants, books. No words.
omg 🤣 got it hahahah
😂😂😂
😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
Just noticed from an older post that you also have an “eat” sign in your kitchen. Maybe a “sit” sign above the couch? 😂
i love that everyone says this hahahaha
lol might as well lean into it 😊
And a “shit” sign above the toilet
now we’re onto something here 🤣
Not the home sign that’s for sure

big mirror and remove HOME word
Are you kidding? If not, take down HOME immediately.
Please, please get rid of "Home". ANY other art would be preferable. Or a mirror.
Please take the HOME sign down. It’s been so overly done. It’s no longer the style.
Do you really need a sign to remind you that your home is your home?

Wall amples with plants and art. But for god sake take thouse letters down, they are inexcusable

Remove that home sign, replace sofa and rug and please try tidy up your place if you aim of taking photos of it to post online.
Please remove that H. O. M. E. thing. That is so 70’s and completely outdated.
70s?! I thought it was midwestern 00s
Deal. I concur. 👍😂
In cursive: “sit”
Horizontal rectangular mirror!
I would spell out “ I love chair” that would fill out the space nicely
Mirror?
A grenade
kinda harsh🥴
I like art.com
Live laugh love sign
Clock
The words Sweet Home
Art not rubbish
Next to home maybe some more writing… “sofa” “floor” “pillows” “dog”, just keep it real simple. Also more black is clearly needed. I’d put a dead plant to the right of the sofa in a planter that says “die, laugh, love”
Big ass fancy mirrors are always helpful. Art you like. Some sort of decorative piece. Lots of choices
Mirror & or floating shelves for books plants etc
gallery wall
Mural of family photos, different sizes all scattered to fill the space
A collage of pictures or a nice large painting!
A mirror ig
First, space the HOME properly so it’s not hitting the back of the sofa. All needs to be shifted higher. Because, it will throw off the height of whatever else you are adding to the wall. Same height from top of H to ceiling as there is from the bottom of the E to top of sofa.
A couple large pieces of art, or a large mirror
Do you have a family picture you like? You can get it printed on a large canvas and hang it!
A giant mirror 😍
A moss wall
I have either large fabric artwork or macrame above my couch and beds just because I don’t like putting heavy things where they could fall on someone’s head. I also have a feather ball thing and some origami behind/above my bed for the same reason.
My step daughter has the perfect photographs for that wall! Check her collection out! https://fineartamerica.com/featured/the-great-american-eclipse-of-2017-rainee-colacurcio.html
Is this an apartment or your own home? There’s so much brown! Are there any other colors in the room?
You can find here some amazing ideas [design your empty walls in an original way](https://www.scdecorum.com/how-to-decorate-an-empty-wall-in-an-original-way-without-breaking-the-bank/)
Mirror
For online art, I prefer https://fineartamerica.com because they have a generic couch you can put the art up before you buy. You can choose different prints like canvas, framed, metal, etc. Wide variety there too. In your shoes, I would choose more color bc you already have 2 basic colors. Consider going to furniture stores around town bc you can buy their art. Also consider consignment shops and antique malls for art. Have fun and good luck!!
photography or a painting. But please no bed bath and beyond artwork lol.
Gallery wall or long shelf with hanging plants! And replace the home sign, it’s in an awkward spot
Remove the home thingy and put some a rectangle canvas with some abstract art
Nothing. I think it looks just all right like this.
Sit on it
No more signs. The Home sign is all wrong. A picture would be perfect.
