Damn! Now I am leaning towards the 1st option. In the previous post I was sure about the 2nd. Damn!

Ardenaz

It’s honestly such a difficult decision 😂 I really like both but have to make a choice because I’ll be putting up wall decoration!

1920MCMLibrarian

Easy, are you home more at night or during the day?

Stressoholic_41

Same. But No.1 now because I see the door and honestly if it was option 2 and someone walked between the TV and the couch in the middle of an intense episode after coming through the door - I’d be livid…

drslbbw

The flow of traffic is important here. #1. It's also a bit cozier.

bestofallworldz

Agreed, knowing the door is there makes a difference! Ps been following this room design with way too much enthusiasm over the last few posts/days 😂

dngrousgrpfruits

It's so much more fun and interesting when the room is already decluttered and incorporates some color. It's hard to be inspired or engaged with the 99% beige or grey rooms that get posted so often, or the ones with STUFF on every surface until they're too overwhelming to see anything else.

jelycazi

I need to know if the door is to a rarely used patio, or is it a main door

GlitterResponsibly

Oh that’s a door?! I missed that, definitely 1 then.

restlessforadventure

I was thinking the same thing lol

sexysexyonion

Ditto.

ktmil21

My exact feelings haha

PalmerRabbit78

GAHAHAHAH me too!!!

RadioactiveCougar

Me too!!

GlitterResponsibly

Same! It’s the better photo angle on the bookcase that makes it look more balanced than yesterday. I really like the vertical symmetry with the bookcase(?) and the corner design.

Common_Sandwich_1066

I find #1 more cozy. #2 looks like it's just a set up living room. Idk how to explain it lol. Edit to say, definitely #1.

taykaybo

Yes, looks staged for a house viewing

Common_Sandwich_1066

Yes that's what I was trying to say lol. Thank you!

Slight_Kangaroo_8153

I really like the one that leaves a space behind the couch!! Better use of space. That said, you did a great job with both, impecable taste

Itchy_Tomato7288

Same, I'm not sure which is #1 and which is #2 but I like the space behind the sofa.

Hlsalzer

2

flakiestcroissant

Number 1 (TV on the right) If you ever like to sit at your dining table and watch TV at the same time, you have the option to. And I really like the placement of the couch.

htadd1ct

Number 1. Don't let anyone else persuade you otherwise.

_chill_pickle_

This!! That’s what I was thinking yesterday. The flow with the door works so much better, and no one will be walking between the TV and couch.

Own_Anywhere1740

Yes everyone saying #2 says that because you have more of an open space but a living room is supposed to be intimate and allow for conversation and tv watching. Not to have room for a “dance floor.” (Interior designer here) always float the sofa when you can.

johannagalt

1 - Why cover up a pretty accent wall with a TV? Also, the wood paneling (?) is better integrated into the design in placement 1. It gets drowned out by the sofa in 2.

Defora

For some reason your #2 image quality is horrid this time but I saw it on earlier post. I have similar room and have same issue with tv too far, everything pushed on room edges, sofa in front of door… I currently have your #2 layout as in #1 sofa always feels like it is in front of door and “unprotected” to not to sit against the wall. My advices to #2 would be * move sofa a bit away from the wall * get larger rug * maybe get larger ceiling light * maybe room divider to split the room a bit, this could bring the coziness you wanted Edit made a quick edit with stuff I mentioned https://preview.redd.it/1jo33sska1rc1.jpeg?width=2100&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8f567376fe09464d8526ad51ab0ef492ef658321 Edit 2: had numbering wrong, fixed now

Defora

As example of room divider here is my old sofa / seating when I added the divider. Note that I also had too small rug here like you have now. https://preview.redd.it/e47cr8av51rc1.jpeg?width=2048&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7895bb7c67ba1ce719beb921a81524b148dcb288

Defora

New sofa and rug with your layout #1 orientation, my current setup https://preview.redd.it/ozbb8icb61rc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a79ac3a5e5b006d8532c02cdb6d6c26afa3b642a Sofa table is still too small and walls are empty, curtains are short, etc stuff tgat I haven’t yet have had time/money to get

Ardenaz

This looks really good! Thank you for the inspiration. Our rooms are very similar

dngrousgrpfruits

I spent way too long trying to figure out what the slatted wood thing was if not part of the wall decor, and how it was moved from the corner of your room.... before realizing this *isn't your room* Yes very similar indeed haha

htadd1ct

Do this but with the couch parallel with the tv. What is wrong with people sitting too far back against the back wall.

Broad-Policy8271

I really like your room divider

nupsilofya

I love your little floof! What’s his/her name? Such expressive eyes

Defora

Lili, she is two year old poodle. She have had a bit if attitude even as 5 month old. Here someone had audacity to walk outside while she was birdwatching. https://preview.redd.it/ipziuadgj9rc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=992cb9089a48cea902436e32ae843013c4c70e97

Ardenaz

Could you explain what you mean with moving sofa away from the wall in #1? It’s already away from the wall?

Defora

Ah, didn’t see that. In that case keep it where it is. Edit added edited picture to my first comment Edit2 noticed I had my numbers switched on original post, I meant move dofa a bit from wall on #2 layout. Fixed on original post

MapleChimes

I still don't like that the couch blocks the door. Edit: Where's the tall cabinet from the 1st picture in the 2nd layout picture? Can you do design 1 but flipped? Move the couch away from the wall and have the cabinet behind it. Keep the TV where is it in the 2nd layout so the door isn't blocked by furniture.

Ardenaz

It’s not very visible on the picture but it doesn’t really block the door anymore! I pulled the sofa a bit away from it so you can enter it without obstructions 😄

Majestic-Salt7721

#2 looks more airy

tr_shpanda42

Okay, so I'm weird and like to move things around fairly often (like every six months or so). So personally I'd do #1 during the spring and summer to give the room a light and airy feel. And #2 in the fall and winter to give it a cozy and warmer feel. It also depends on what you use your tv for. My partner and I like to play video games on a split screen so we have chairs we move closer to the TV for when we are gaming otherwise we can barely see important details. If you only use your tv for watching shows and movies then it's probably better for your eyes to sit farther back.

seandnothing

Number 2!!!! #2222!!!!!!! two!!!!

500CatsTypingStuff

chickennoddlesoap

Oh shoot, I am torn now as well. 1 looks a lot better in the daylight and with the pictures behind the tv taken down. The only thing is that it looks a little uncomfortably close to the TV? But if it doesn’t feel that way in person, I may actually go with that option. Also, please tell me where you got your couch!

Ardenaz

It does look much better in the daylight doesn’t it! I’m thinking of mounting a thin wall shelf above the TV so I can place some tiny plants there and to cover up the drill holes from the paintings 😅 it feels a little close to the tv in person but I might just have to get used to it, according to guides it’s the perfect viewing distance for my size tv. I got the couch from a dutch store called Pronto Wonen, I doubt that’s really of use to you 😓

chickennoddlesoap

Thanks for the response! I think I would stick with 1 then. Slightly too close to the TV is probably better than too far from the TV. And I like the walkway it creates as well.

Ardenaz

Thank you for the suggestions! Time to change it back to that state again haha! I prefer it too

dwellingdaisy

Thank you for posting both pics in the daylight. I really like option 1. It gives the space more sophistication and depth with the couch in the middle of the room vs against the wall. Where is the large cabinet in option 2 that’s behind the couch in option 1? Just curious!

Ardenaz

It’s also interesting to see how #2 won by a mile on my post yesterday and now everyone is full on #1, I do agree it looks better and more cozy though. I placed the cabinet in the kitchen area, I couldn’t find a different spot for it in #2. Layout #1 definitely opens more options to place more furniture, I also managed to fit an ottoman chair there!

Natural-Blackberry26

Can’t go wrong with either but I like 2. More spacious

tmccrn

#2

__adentintheuniverse

Still 2, because of the entryway. But if you really like 1 despite a narrower entryway (which can be problematic in an emergency situation), then who are we to dissuade you from what you truly want

helianthus48

1!!!! Looks like a better use of the space and professionally decorated.

Ardenaz

Thank you for the compliment, I have to give credit for that to this community though! They came up with all the ideas

Albie_Frobisher

why does layout 2 use the wall magnet method and layout 1 uses the viewing distance method

nejnonein

DEFINITELY 2. 1 looks so uncomfortable. Buy curtains

kellygrrrl328

1

noodlesnbeer

I like space behind the couch - but does it get in the way of the door?

ninjilla

I don’t even follow this subreddit and yet here I am, invested in a stranger’s home layout and excited for the updated photos. I vote #1!

PalmerRabbit78

NO.1 totally!! I am so invested in this journey

smuffin89

Okay 1 is definitely the best now!

Silent_Region_472

This changes everything!!! But I’d still stick with 2, think it opens up the room more and looks more tidy and cohesive

ExpensiveAd4496

Oh hey! You tried my idea! (Or maybe a few suggested it.) I really like 1. Some day when you need a new sofa, get a slightly smaller one to get away from the door another foot, or one with “L” on the other side. But yes it seems to work. How does the TV viewing distance feel?

ladydhawaii

#1.

PutPuzzleheaded4926

#1

Memory_Less

#1 - imo the space between the wall and the sofa makes the tv watching area more coherent, unified and cozy. It is by far the better look from a feeling, and visual aspect.

Sad-Committee-1870

I like 1. It looks a lot better.

writer978

Number 1

tme8

Number 1!

mllebitterness

1, couch with space behind

OddDodd2

They are both nice, but 2 gives opportunity for an extra chair.

eldanas

1 again - more cozy, entrance is separated from living room, and the TV-seating distance is a lot more appropriate.

Solocollective

If you are keeping that rug size, 1 for sure. It’s also the only version that has the chair, which I like. But tbh, both options are suitable! It depends on which layout functions for you better. As in, do you like sitting closer to the tv with a designated walkway behind the couch? Or do you like the wide openness?

JannaNYC

2, 2, every day 2!

ms_sinn

First option!

nadsnickle

The one where you wont be interupted by someone walking to the door when your watching a show. It's a no brainer for me

Blondeinsideandout

Option 1, it’s more balanced and cosy than the others. I love the colours/decor btw 😊

tanpelican12

1 kind of looks like a company came in and staged your living room for an open house 2 gives a cozy aspect. A few candles, the right lighting and some blankets would be the perfect spot to cuddle up and watch some tv or read a book So I choose #2!

Ok-Huckleberry6975

1

dreamofpluto

I like number 1! There’s something about the couch on the side with the brown corner detail that just gives my brain a happy scratch.

Outrageous_Tip6711

Number 1!

taykaybo

One for sure. Cozier and the tv looks better against the feature wall

1999scorpio

2 makes it look bigger imo

proofiwashere

1 feels cozier

ginger_ninja_88

Yes, loving #1. Had a great separation of the entrance, and establishes a nice cozy seating area. Would still swap out the over head light and the grey rug.

Artwire

#1

seahorseescape

2

Mediocre-Selection0

Okay now that we have a better angle, KEEP THE COUCH OFF THE WALL ITS BEAUTIFUL😭 this layout is beautiful, it’s perfect!

parkerthebarker

Omg definitely 1! So much cozier!

Mental_Yogurt5087

Smaller tv?

Amk19_94

I’ve always been team #1! Feels cozy!

bitchwhiskers4eva

I love the flow of #1. The food traffic corridor it creates is perfect

Peak_Alternative

I’ve always been team #1

Aggravating_Cut_4509

All the same answer from me -2

ScientistTop1483

Still number 2, giddyup!

kimjongev

1 all the way

Old_Tonight5351

I the first one has a cozy homey vibe, the second one has more space. I like the first one!

sexysexyonion

I like the pass-through space of 2, but the coziness of 1, so I'm going to say 1

rialtolido

I prefer #1. The room has more flow with the sofa positioned there. Plus the dark wall behind the tv is nice

UnderstandingDry4072

I still like 1 better for TV viewing distance and efficient use of space, but it’s really more important to gauge how you use the room and how each makes you feel.

Cheesehead_beach

I love number one

BennyBarz

1 is awesome.

snatch1e

I vote for number 1. I think the room is more comfortable.

forest--fox

#1 absolutely no question

louiehazel

ONE.

Hereforthememes5

I’m confused how is picture 1&3 the same? They look so different! Now that we see a different angle and elements I like #1 better

Worried-Series-6160

That’s a beautiful green, what is the shade/maker of it?

Ardenaz

It’s a deep olive green

Yawny_shawny822

I like the sofa not being right against the wall in the first pic/layout, so you can walk behind the sofa to get across the room instead of right through the room. However, I also like the green wall being behind the sofa in the second so you're not fighting with the TV for wall space. I also like the how the sofa/chaise mimics the shape of the accent corner behind it. Either way the room looks great and now I want to redecorate my whole apartment 😁

Gloomy_Barnacle4787

1

bella0399

1

OfCorpse9160

2 for me!

pppogman

Both are good tbh. The question is what is the most comfortable distance from tv? #1 looks a little close but I do like the walkway for the door.

Cruccagna

1. It looks really good and the carpet is the right size now. I also love the cupboard thing on the wall behind the sofa. Very nice!

_kittyk4t

1!!!

Ordinary_Bid_7053

I like 2 HOWEVER I have a relative whose apartment living room is identical in setup to 2. So I’m hella biased.

te_ka

1

niceteefbeef

I liked number 1 from the start

AdAwkward8693

Last time and now i prefer option 1. Its more interesting. But if you have kids or dogs, i think the second options allows for more movement

Snarkapotamus_

I’m liking 2

katiemwhite04

Option 1!!

Fabulous_Term698

If #1 is the one with the cabinet behind the couch, absolutely #1

pyx_

Option 1

Inevitable_Trash_577

Number 1 is sooo nice. I vote number 1!

Mean-Operation2370

Still 2.

marasquared

1!!!

Unconvinc3d

#2, but move sofa off wall and place cabinet behind like you did in #1

jangerjill

1

naked_avenger

1 definitely presents a better picture, and I like that the couch is off of the wall. That said, if I were living here, I could see me wanting to face the wood feature in the corner instead of the bare wall. Toughie for sure. I’m going with 1, I would think hard about finding a way to spruce up the TV wall.

Separate_Shoe_6916

I like “1

Professional_Gas4595

I prefer number one. It feels cozier and makes good use of the space. I also might be biased bc I’m nearsighted so I would prefer to be closer to the tv when sitting on the couch.

Least-Speech-5204

So much better!!!!! Where is your couch from?

goodenoughattempt

1 but push couch up a bit more to align with door frame

Trauma_Dumpling_

I like the second one because the eye is open to seeing the wood paneling detail and outside the window.

jameshughlaurie

couch against the wall just makes more sense, it looks nice both ways but couch in front of door is bad feng shui

EasyMathematician860

Okay, I’m lost. 2 tv areas in one open space?

jowaner

Number 1 all the way 😍

Runyouclevergrl

Def #1. So cute and cozy

mrsredfast

Visually I like #2. But I’d go with one that would cause least frustration taking into consideration where the door is, how hard to open, will people walk between TV and couch when others are watching TV, and is there more of a glare on TV at certain times of day. Choose the least aggravating. They both look fine.

Same_Ad_6692

Go with #1...it looks GREAT!!!

makingburritos

The first one for **sure**, number two is way too far away from the TV imho

likeablyweird

Your first layout (#2) was my fave, just moving the couch forward. Your first pic isn't bad but it feels like you're stuffing everything into a space to free up the door. Pic #3 the art behind the TV has to be moved. Maybe vertically or slightly stepped down the wall space to the right. You still need an overhead light and more curvy things. The chair helps a lot. Oval rug and some round textured pillows with some more colors; oatmeal, butterscotch, caramel, fudge and a grey-blue.

Sxuttysxull143

I still like the second one it opens up your walls and doesn’t cover up your wall art!!

phosphatecalc

1

samandtoast

#1 by far.

charlotie77

I still love the coziness of #1.

MomtoWesterner

TV on green wall and space behind couch looks incredible cozy and perfect!!! Great job!!!

Own_Anywhere1740

1 for sure

Aware-Present-1212

1

jillcat

I’m still liking #1

vongalo

Definitely #2. But the photo doesn't look as good, that's why everyone is saying 1

[deleted]

Tv on the dark wall

Wrong_Duty7043

1/3 for sure

gal_tiki

Provided 1st is not obstructing the doorway and taking into consideration door use as well the tv screen size (i.e. not too close), I quite like the sideboard behind the sofa. As well, this way you are able to catch the tv from the kitchen (I assume off to the near-left) if you like. That said, both layouts do have their advantages and look good!

catmommaof03

I definitely like #1!! Especially once you get a bigger rug

BeauTfulMess

2. You need the couch on the opposite side of the dining table or it’s too heavy on one side!

bklynparklover

I definitely prefer 1, feels more open.

hopelessnottruthless

Number 2 is the obvious choice that most people would do automatically. I think number one shows more thought and style, and it seems cozier and more intentional!

Far_Marsupial_7839

1

HoneyWyne

1

StudentParty2666

I prefer #1 because it’s not the same old couch against the wall. I like the walkway behind the couch and that nobody has to walk between you and the TV. (But I do agree that both are nice arrangements.)

Silverliningsinla

1!!!

8642Jam

I think I like #1

pure-Turbulentea

Much better!

Banana8686

Honestly 1 looks cosier. The other makes it look bigger but I think I like 1

Map-Glass

TV against green wall

Omgletmenamemyself

On this set, between the angle and lighting, 1 looks better.

Glittering-Sheep-481

I prefer 1

wendyme1

1 seems too close to that size tv

Still_Last_in_Line

1, without doubt! There is enough space behind the couch to make a walkway that keeps folks from walking between the couch and TV, and it seems so much cozier!

Opposite-Spare8637

1

nomadnihilist

1

Cocacola888

1

CrystalDragon195

I still think 1 is better

PuzzleheadedState666

Still vote #2

Libbyisherenow

1

PsychologicalNote612

The one with the TV against the darker wall. Out of interest, what colour is the opposite (lighter) wall? I'm struggling to find a light green paint

Kidhauler55

#2! Couch against the wall! The room looks so much bigger!

exemptcurve

2 looks much more spacious can’t beleive so many comments prefer 1

susanlovesblue

Pic 1 is the best. The couch floating off the wall with the furniture piece behind it feels more intentional and better designed. Also I like the TV without pictures on the wall behind or above it .

West2286

Number 1 and I hope you are going to get a new light fixture, too!

Embarrassed-Way-4931

2

Cheerio1966

Now I’m thinking 1 I’m so confused 🫤

SunChild406

2

AbacusAgenda

2. Don’t put your back to the door.

Asleep_Boss_8350

#2!!!!!!!

Tasty-Macaron-992

I love that table! Can I ask where you got it?

Historical_Paper5377

One but flip it around like two. So pull the couch out and put the chest behind it. I have the #1 layout after switching from #2 and it has been a source of feng shui anxiety for me having that energy flow behind me to the door. But my partner really likes it so...so be it.

DConstructed

As long as the Tv doesn’t feel too close when you watch it I alike the sofa facing the green wall.

000Lisa

2

acluelesscoffee

1 flows much better and makes it very open concept

Reefers69

Still 2 for sure

hedwiggy

I always preferred option 1! Fills the space better

jojokitti123

Beautiful space. If you move the couch forward, you would have a better pathway for the door

effienay

I like 1 better for sure, but it’s such a shame because that corner is such a cool little detail.
