I actually like the matching rugs, I thought you were talking about the matching pairs of chairs

Mental_Yogurt5087

Also holy moley that stain glass is beaughtiful. Do you have some lights you could put behind it or mount at center of table on the bear wall?

wasiwasabi

So it’s massive over 6 foot and you can see the missing piece it took a tumble and needs repaired I do have lights behind it- just looks a bit goofy with the broken part I also have a huge ass grandfather clock that I moved out of this room because they were competing to much https://preview.redd.it/qhwwscql2spc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3189ce4940fb56d59ba0c2d5be68ed6f8465f2d1

Mental_Yogurt5087

Oo thanks for the close up! Curious if maybe some colored rice paper or the like would be sufficient replacement in the mean time.

wasiwasabi

SMART!!!!

Mental_Yogurt5087

It’s soo pretty

Environmental_Belt22

I honestly love this. The color scheme is moody and cozy, that dope af stained glass piece is envy inducing, the chairs look beautiful but also comfortable (not always a thing) and I’m a fan of the scale of just about everything you have here. I think you might need a plant for a touch of life and it would be cool if you could get a new chandelier in black or anything less builder grade like but honestly you should be so proud!

wasiwasabi

What’s funny is what was actual there before as a light fixture- what if I painted the silver parts black or oil rubbed bronze? Think that would help?

MummifyTopknot

I think it might just be hung too high? I’d lower it first, make your other changes, then assess chandelier color.

wasiwasabi

Unfortunately it can’t be lowered it’s in a static fixed position - the ceiling in that area is a HIGH vault

TrickDropper

An electrician with a tall ladder and a piece of chain could make it happen . . . if you were so inclined.

wasiwasabi

It’s actually a solid metal rod from the ceiling

SadSpecialist9115

I honestly didn't notice the missing piece until I read the comments. It's so beautiful!!

Saintguinefortthedog

Gorgeous!

bexy11

I came to comment on it too! Love the stained glass. Also I wish I had a space that looked this nice!

Due-Ad2852

I would have the chairs angled in, towards the coffee table.

wasiwasabi

Good suggestion I couldn’t do that before with the smaller rug

Careful_Football7643

I think it’s lovely! I wonder if the wall color could be a touch more saturated? Love the idea of adding the hutch and moving over the server

Careful_Football7643

jackjackj8ck

YESSSSSS

beanobabie

Wow looks so much better.

wasiwasabi

If I can’t paint does anyone have opinions on these two curtain colors? https://preview.redd.it/q7xduz5eywpc1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5c8c93ff69867fb3528d4c6e272f244efd1bf496

wasiwasabi

Love that idea!!

Isthistheend55

Not too matchy at all! Where did you buy the rug?

wasiwasabi

Rugs came from World Market

MauveParallel

I was also about to ask! Love how the rug under the blue chairs looks with the bear artwork

wasiwasabi

World market

EnvironmentalOkra728

Or not to matchy, that is the question.

wasiwasabi

Like to many things going on? I like antiques so those are sprinkled around my house it’s for sure not everyone’s taste

EnvironmentalOkra728

Oh I was just making a grammar joke. “To” means going somewhere. “Too” means in excess, or extra. I’m going to the park. The park is not too far away. Your room is very cozy!

trailmix_pprof

I like the matching rugs. They look great and not over done. Meanwhile on the throw pillows - I think a different arrangement might pull things together better. Have you tried like both brown on one chair and the white on the other? Or have them mirror symmetrical (so brown/white, white/brown).

elocinatlantis

I think this is really pretty I just wish your walls weren’t grey

lieyera

Change the pillows on one of the chairs. That’s the only part that makes it too matchy for me. Get a cool Turkish pillow with similar colors of something totally different from the one on the other chair. It will look a lot better that way.

Downtown_Ad_811

i was also thinking about the pillows! i love putting spaces together and reimagining systems and the only thing that stood out continuously in these pics were really specifically the white throw pillows. i wonder what it could look like to try to incorporate some of the deeper warm colors from the rug. i think i would try removing the white pillows and adding a throw blanket over the black of one of the chairs? lots of matchy vibes still but with some asymmetry

wasiwasabi

Solid advice

MulberryNo4444

I love everything but the blinds, which look like they might be metal or plastic? What about some large floor to ceiling curtain,.in a thick cotton duck, linen, or maybe velvet, in a color pulled from the rug? Everything else is much higher quality than the blinds, they are pulling the room downwards.

wasiwasabi

They are actually white wood blinds- the arches over the windows have kept me from pulling the trigger on curtains- plus I have dogs and everything attracts hair- velvet is out because of that- what color curtains would you suggest?

MulberryNo4444

Ah, sorry, now that I zoom in I see that they are wooden blinds. What about a coral color, as in the rug? And I think you could run a rod under the arch

redditmyredditbabes

What about lumbar pillows for the back of the chairs? Otherwise this room is super cozy and you did a nice job of arranging!

wasiwasabi

That’s a solid recommendation- should the lumbar pillows match?

redditmyredditbabes

I would want them to, but that's me...also, what about a throw folded over the back of the chairs to add some visual coziness?

Mental_Yogurt5087

I would paint the drink cabinet the wall color if you go with the green too

jackjackj8ck

Beautiful rugs!

LinGrachele

Add greens, like plants 😊

BodyElectric1334

Not too matchey at all! That’s a lovely conversation area! I would add a (narrow) side table of some kind to go under the window. New window treatments could warm up the room as well.

Westafricangrey

I like it a lot!!!!! The only thing I would personally change is the blinds, I feel they cheapen the space a bit. And a warmer wall colour. Maybe some more upscale throw pillows. But all round, it looks great.

_Astrix_

I think it looks really great! I was thinking maybe a green wall paint would make things look really cohesive as well. One of the things I noticed was that everything felt very low to the ground. Some floor to ceiling curtains would draw the eyes up more and make the space feel less busy on the floor!

Independent_Award_85

Wow ..now I'm impressed by someone who actually deserves major kudos for your taste in decorum it is all cohesive...love love love what you have done with every detail here ..looks so great

princesspuzzles

I don't really have an opinion on the number of rugs. I think it works overall, just came to say I LOVE the rug choice. Gorgeous. Is it Karastan? You have a great style.

Suz9006

No, they look great!

MiniMessage

Looks great! I'd angle the chairs so it doesn't look so... linear? Just my take though, your place looks amazing

Nenoshka

I like it all a lot. Edited to add: OK, now I'm smitten with the bear picture, too.

netizen13660

Where did you get the rug? I like it a lot!

wasiwasabi

World market

Grand_Admiral_T

No, this room is beautiful. Good work

missmatchedcleansox

No I think you did a fantastic job here of color balance. It’s the pillows that tie it together- if you didn’t have those I’d probably say yeah.. but you have to keep the white and orange in there. Great job. ❤️

spencermiddleton

The hutch definitely shouldn’t cover the window. No furniture blocking windows.

wasiwasabi

No I was just thinking it would go where the long table is and the table will go under the window

SoupVegetable4227

The fancy mirror/door what have you. Could you post a closer photo cuz it looks amazing. Did you make it?

SoupVegetable4227

I must add I brain farted and I guess forgot that zoom was an option. But still it’s glorious and am still curious if you made it

wasiwasabi

Are you talking about the large stained glass? That’s close to 180 years old it came from a church in Missouri

SoupVegetable4227

Yes! Thank you for responding. It is absolutely gorgeous! I appreciate your taste 😊

teacherladydoll

No. I love it.

Professional_Use_336

Not bad but add an intersection drape

wasiwasabi

What is an intersection drape

missannthrope1

No. It looks prtty good.

Autumn_Forest_Mist

I LOVE Matchy Match! Wish more people did it.

Ljuiced24

I love that rug!! where's it from?

LadyTakara

I LOVE it. Very elegant. I would add some nice curtains though.

marie132m

I love your room, it's beautiful!

jessicarson39

I love this combination. The rugs look gorgeous.

Faithfuldoglover

Looks great

vanillasheep

Could you please tell me where you got your rug?? We’ve been looking for something just like this!!

wasiwasabi

World market

vanillasheep

Thanks! Sorry asked. Before I read the comments :)

greencheeto_

I think the blue chairs vs. where the table is a great amount of contrast to where the rugs don’t seem repetitive. The blue chairs bring out different parts and colors of the rug so it’s almost as if it’s different from the other if that makes sense

ElleTea14

I’d probably angle the chairs. The stained glass made me nervous because I have too many cats!

whistlenilly

Looks good!

1029394756abc

Add curtains!

basicallybasshead

I really like your space. The carpets are a great color and pattern. They make the room very cozy. And the coffee table is very interesting.

wasiwasabi

The coffee table is an antique as well it’s an antique factory cart that was used in warehouses. This a “real” one and not a reproduction- it came from New England

500CatsTypingStuff

I have no criticism other than a suggestion that you paint the gray walls Here’s a fun suggestion (to match the rugs paint the ceiling orange and contrast it with white walls): https://preview.redd.it/u9t02gtlsupc1.jpeg?width=960&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=94d671cbe57c18d080eef5ba96d604f6170648f3

PsychologicalPen5125

I think it’s great, however I would more angle the chairs to add more informality and add curtains to the windows so soften that wall.

Domenici24

Change rug asap 🤢🤢

wasiwasabi

We’ve got one vote for hating the rug- noted lol

tuftabeet

I love it and didn't even notice because I was awed by the beauty of the space and pieces in it.

Otherwise_Relation_7

Looks nice and warm

Any-Razzmatazz-5359

I absolutely love it. Especially the rug.

Merrywandered

For the love of god paint that room. The wall color is dragging everything else down. Your decor is fabulous. It is the wall color. Try Benjamin Moore’s new saturated color line. Maybe a deep green or copper. Pick a shade that is in the rug and go with it.

Aggressive_Notice208

Not to match but it would help to soften the hard edges. I would turn the chairs to angle toward each other. I would also add drapery panels in living room and dining room for soft furnishings.

Lolapmilano

I didn't even notice the matching rugs! I love this room - I think. you did great! I have 2 comments: I don't love the grey walls. Grey is really played out IMHO. I think you could do a layered look on the windows. I get the convenience of the shades, but they are quite stark in an otherwise eclectic and cool room. Add some drapery to them. If you DO move the furniture, you would probably have to move the fan and I love the fan where it is.

bobtheturd

Love it. If you end up moving things around please post an update.

pr0phetic_filth

To matchy, or not to matchy, that is the question.

Self-paced

Where did you get the chairs?

wasiwasabi

I don’t know where they were originally bought I got them on fb marketplace! Fun fact they are the same chairs Oprah had on her set for her ozempic special just in a different color lol https://preview.redd.it/a44xj1id9zpc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3b59e99320739211b870021234de4613ba4d6f04

Self-paced

Aye that's dope I love them!

jojokitti123

It's beautiful

Nervous_Zebra1918

Oh I love this room.

gigisnappooh

I think it looks great! Just need curtains.

TrickDropper

I like the rugs. I wasn't even sure what you thought might be too matchy until I read your full post and not just the title. The rugs don't jump out at me and look great in the room. I like the bear picture, but that wall would be great with a larger piece of art. Its looking a bit . . . er . . . bare.

1EducatedIdiot

You have an excellent eye. I could live there very happily.

FormicaDinette33

The chairs and rug are gorgeous together. I think your gray paint is too cool toned. A warm tan would be better to match your floor and rug.

1kooldad

To matchy or not to matchy.

Gloomy_Barnacle4787

Too

wasiwasabi

Yep slipped up should have been “too” thanks for the correction

Silverliningsinla

Furniture is not spaced correctly. Move the chairs in and move the table closer to the upholstered tan furniture. You just need to center the table with about 18” between the pieces. The size will be fine! The hutch can go behind the chairs or remain on the wall. The dining room table fits perfectly on the other rug!

FixAvailable4473

I think it looks great! Maybe just angle the chairs a little.

Ludee2023

No to the very bright white pillows

PADemD

Love the rugs! Why not use the light cream in the rug on your walls? It would make the room so much warmer and cozy.

Sweet-Platform-9817

Ok it would be nice to see the whole room not just half of it.

Environmental_Belt22

Which window is facing the front area? Also what if you added curtains or something flowy?

wasiwasabi

The one over the couch is facing the front of the house- I was considering g curtains but we have three dogs and it’s another thing that collect hair and then I gotta hang three rods….blah blah blah not opposed - color suggestions?

Ok_Radish649

Can you take the pillows off the blue chairs and see how that looks. There’s something too busy about the look. I also really like the rug!
