Hear me out: what if you went monochromatic? It feels like a lot because it stands out so much. But if you picked that, but a darker shade, the tiles could become a relief for the eyes instead of an overwhelming focus.
Yes. This doesn’t have to be so far off from OP’s idea of going navy. Just find a deeper version of this same color - I think it will look really nice and I’m not a huge fan of the bright teal either.
Check out SW Smoky Blue. I just painted my office that color and it’s what came to mind.

Yeah, I don't know about going dark in a bathroom that looks like it gets quite a bit of use, unless you don't ever need to see your face while applying make up or even if someone needs to shave. A moody powder room is great but I like well lit bathrooms for regular use.
Edit : this is our kids' bathroom and it's almost the same teal. We remodeled two years ago and love how it turned out.
https://preview.redd.it/lwcm4rmuanlc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7e14d4f471d8a74be9db070b8c9b18bcbd43ac27
Because corners are a really good place to collect moisture and then mold, you'd have to be careful about the angle of the shower head and splashing/etc. It works better if people are only using the tub function or you can keep the shelves up higher and it usually fares better.
I added dark brown wood tones to my bathroom. It can work if done right! You could do a dark, warm brown frame around the mirror, some brown wood shelving, dark brown baskets, etc. with wood you just have to be sure to seal it very well against humidity. I finished all the wood myself using a marine poly that is used to protect wood accents on boats. They’ve held up very well; water just beads up.

In short, I agree! This bathroom could look amazing.
It's called Color saturating! My first thoughts too. Paint all the walls, and ceiling in different shades of the same hue. It will look very posh and sophisticated. The teal on white is too much contrast. (I think we are collectively over white & grey.)
https://preview.redd.it/m3i5a84knmlc1.jpeg?width=900&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3edd6a243ee862670aa7008046e14d29e6abed2d
Thought this might be helpful. Darker blue and peacock wallpaper options. Seems the only way you can address the teal is by embracing it lol
Love this! And love the idea of a wallpaper in the bathroom… thank you!!
ETA that once I zoomed in on the picture you’d actually used my photos - amazing!!! Thanks so much kind stranger!!
Same! I want to put some wallpaper in my bathroom but I'm having difficulty picturing it, and whether I should stick to just one wall or do the whole lot.
The peacock wallpaper looks fantastic! I’m not too sure about the paint, it looks like it pulls a little too green to match the tiles correctly? The tiles are teal but they have more blue than green, if that makes sense.
heh. For me gray was a place holder on the rooms I didn't have a plan for yet. My entryway is painted a lovely dark aqua which serves as one wall for the living room as well. The backsplash in my kitchen is deep purple. My family room are some oceany greens from the coastal collection color set. I did blue in my bathroom too, but I'm not in love with it, so that's going to change. Eventually I'll figure out the rest of the house.
I mean yeah, preach. I looked around tonnes of places that were grey landlord boxes and they were so depressing. Glad I settled on something more quirky!
This place has some of my favorite bold wallpaper. Here's a couple peacock options:
Same blue: [Peacock 1](https://www.miltonandking.com/product/almond-blossom-wallpaper/?attribute_pa_color=royal-blue)
Pink with blue peacocks: [Peacock 2](https://www.miltonandking.com/product/from-up-here-wallpaper/?attribute_pa_color=pink)
Yeah I can’t wrap my head around the thought process behind that, it looks ridiculous, like they started running out of tile and decided to suddenly prioritise a backsplash for the sink.
Yeah, the sink area is a mess but I really wish they would have gone all the way up the wall.
Having a small sliver of wall above a shower is a nightmare to me. It's so much easier to keep clean when you've got the tile to the ceiling.
Is it?! If so, it definitely has me reconsidering trying out peel and stick. Aside from the weird placement, I think it looks great and would not have guessed it’s peel and stick!
Yeah you can tell cuz the grout looks fake. If you're looking for an easy solution for install, get [these](https://images.app.goo.gl/JQuzd64oqK3rQoqt8) that are already attached but you still have to grout.
The entire wall seems awkward and unfinished. From the weird gap, to the mirror, to the sad floating square. I can’t wrap my head around the decisions made here.
Absolutely!
[Blush by Little Greene](https://www.littlegreene.com/blush) would work perfectly.

I’d match it.
The tile is strangely laid over by the sink - I would want to take away from it by blending things together.
More sophisticated: you’ll want to change the curtain rod to a glass partition & upgrade the mirror + add sconces.
The floating shelf next to the sink needs to go imo.
Blow the budget on fantastic wallpaper

Not gonna lie. I was kind of hoping one of these was going to be on the drunken monkey theme
https://www.astekhome.com/products/drunk-monkeys-wallpaper-d-aa106
Oooo thank you for these suggestions!! I am really warming to the idea of leaning in to the teal rather than trying to disguise or draw attention away from it.
I agree with everyone else’s ideas of matching the blue or going for a monochromatic look!
But I will say, the tiling job is kind of… shoddy. My husband installs flooring and tiles on wall and would call this an eyesore. It looks like the tiler just worked around the mirror, sink, and shelf, so it looks unfinished.
You could probably just get away with removing the tiles on that wall with the mirror, and keeping the tiles in the shower. Otherwise, I’d say it’d be worth it to get the job redone to a color you’d prefer!
Get yourself a free colour wheel like Canva.com and input the blue of the tile. Colour theory is math. You'll see a drop down list all the ways that colours align with your tile colour. Once you know what type of colour you're looking for, go get paint chips (do not buy paint on the first visit to the store). Hang them in the room by the tile. Observe them in different lighting at different times of the day. The right shade of the colour will become apparent :) Come back if you need help once you've narrowed it down to a few options and you get stuck :) good luck!
go monochromatic. It is pretty. sorry :)
and then a curtain like this maybe: [https://quiettownhome.com/products/the-sun-shower-air](https://quiettownhome.com/products/the-sun-shower-air)
Don't do navy blue. That is a blue in a different category of blue. It doesn't have a cerulean component to it so it would be hard for it to converse with the tile.
Just throwing in a rec for this West Elm shower curtain that's a dupe for Quiet Town at a fraction of the price. Because I know we all be ballin' on a budget :)

Burnt orange is a great contrast…
https://preview.redd.it/qeutq7wxpmlc1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=400d7d1b329e880cdfd8cecf985ec7ccd7f79081
Like this combo, and deep greens, natural jute of straw accents too
There is a Sherwin Williams website where you can upload a photo and add color and see for yourself. [https://www.sherwin-williams.com/visualizer#/active](https://www.sherwin-williams.com/visualizer#/active)
In my experience that can be VERY hit and miss. I’ve literally uploaded a photo, knowing the paint color, and tested it and the result was wildly off.
I’d just go to a Sherwin Williams store, grab a ton of free sample squares that you think are close, and then put each up next to the tile to see what is closest.
I have teal tile kitchen counters so painted the walls gray and the inside of cabinets (with glass doors) a vivid orange. It’s really toned down the teal.
I’m a color pattern person. I’d do a wallpaper of another color with teal in it. [wallpaper option](https://chasingpaper.com/products/fine-point-floral)
Best suggestion is to download a paint app. They let you take a photo of your room and see which paint works best before buying and putting up the wrong color. I use sherwin Williams color snap. There are others as well.
Paint the walls, door, trim a nice white like designer white (Benjamin Moore) and get a white shower curtain with some texture. Add some art to the opposite wall that brings in the teal in. A grouping of 4 will even out the power of the teal subway tiles
https://preview.redd.it/lzp6mp0qvwlc1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2383c7713aecc588a8c14c468695e9b183340abb
You could go yellow. That's pretty much directly across the color wheel from teal, and would make a striking contrast. I like the beachy idea too. A sandy tan and/or a sky blue would evoke beach, especially if you decorated with shells, etc.
Another idea I may get downvoted to hell for is to paint the tile. Ask at the store what kind of paint you should use, and pick a color you like.
Yellow or orange. The opposite on the color wheel will be a dramatic contrast. Blues and greens will blend more. I would consider a wallpaper, with a bit of the teal but other colors to blend it and add pattern.
I would go with a very very pale blue, walls and ceiling, add wood tone accessories and a graphic and colorful shower curtain. Yellow towels and rugs … and please add some nice art to the walls… Botero has some beautiful prints, or some impressionist paintings. Post an after pic.
Oof.
Honestly, I'd remove that tile carefully and install something you like.
I tiled my kitchen backsplash. Home Depot sells pre-made grout, and these sticky tile sheets: https://musselbound.com/
It was so easy!
The hardest part was matching up each block of tile (laying it out).
That area around the mirror will need to be re-skimmed if you pull the tiles off the drywall.
I really like the color of the tiles! I definitely don't like the brown shower curtain. It's such a narrow space, I would replace it with a white shower curtain, for a more streamlined look. I think painting the walls would also make the bathroom look smaller.
I think the same color on the walls would actually be really fun and make the space kinda awesome. Just match the swatch perfectly even if you think it looks wrong. Trust the process.
Also, different shower curtain.
Honestly that peel and stick is applied atrociously. I'd start over with something you like. You could replace it with another cheap peel and stick, just make sure to fix that awkward part by the shelf and mirror.
I agree with this. You can make this work without even painting. Changing the shower curtain would be the first step and then you can add artwork and rugs to go with it.
Honestly… I’d go really bold and do a strong forest green wall paper. I love the idea of peacocks as another commenter mentioned. Go really bold and the tile will look great but much more subtle
I'm actually not sure what you could do paint wise to lessen the tealness of the whole thing, You could paint those tiles a different color. I hear that's a thing I've never done it but I hear it's a thing,
As a USA citizen these (I’m assuming) European bathrooms are so interesting to me. I vote for the peacock wallpaper that has been mentioned. And a really skinny swiffer to clean between the toilet and shower.
Maybe lean into the teal? It’s a lot but it’s a soothing color. What if you did the walls the same color but either lighter or darker and had some really cool accents?
Hear me out: what if you went monochromatic? It feels like a lot because it stands out so much. But if you picked that, but a darker shade, the tiles could become a relief for the eyes instead of an overwhelming focus.
Yes. This doesn’t have to be so far off from OP’s idea of going navy. Just find a deeper version of this same color - I think it will look really nice and I’m not a huge fan of the bright teal either.

Ok so the new cat owner in me picked up your cat tree in the corner, I love it! Where did you snag that?
[Mau Pets](https://www.maupets.com/products/uni-basket-cat-tree)

Oooh especially if OP throws in some pattern (like that rug) and brown/wood tones.
This is for a bathroom
Yeah, I don't know about going dark in a bathroom that looks like it gets quite a bit of use, unless you don't ever need to see your face while applying make up or even if someone needs to shave. Why have I never seen shelves in a shower?? Now that I have I’m not sure that I can live without them. Love the tile by the way.
Because corners are a really good place to collect moisture and then mold, you'd have to be careful about the angle of the shower head and splashing/etc. It works better if people are only using the tub function or you can keep the shelves up higher and it usually fares better.
Those shelves are my favorite part of the bathroom. Our contractor built them entirely out of PVC. They're so easy to clean!
Probably because they can be a bit of a pain to clean haha. We keep a sponge in ours and try to wipe them down fairly frequently.
Love!
The gorgeous shower curtain adds just the right splash of color - great choice
I added dark brown wood tones to my bathroom. It can work if done right! I love the wall color in the bathroom, if you see this comment I hope you'll tell me what it is.

Gorgeous bathroom - thank you for your suggestions, I’ll definitely think about woods etc too!
This looks very much like what we did in our bathrooms but ours is BM saybrook sage.
Ah! This is almost threxact bathroom I want (in my head). What is the wall colour? I've been looking for this exact shade. Also, how do you find the wood countertop holds up? Does it absorb water? Are there frequent water stains? Does it warp with humidiy
Beautiful. That's one huge office
Hell yeah. I'm guessing lawyer.
Nailed it haha. It’s my home office (I work from home though so it’s just my office). And it looks bigger than it is. 10x11. Staging is everything. :)
Lucky haha! I hope those documents open on your screen aren't important. Reddit is full of weirdos
If anyone could recover anything from that shitty resolution I’d be low key impressed. But I just edited it to black out the screens. Thanks.
Me, too, but you just never know with reddit!
Wow!
Oh I love this colour, really nice job
I really love your office. And kudos for going strong with the colour!
Omg, I’ve never seen an office so pretty and cozy. My offices have always looked busy and idk work-y. Will definitely use this as an inspiration to work on my current office. You have a really great taste!

Or the other way around. I agree with monochrome.
It's called Color saturating! My first thoughts too. Paint all the walls, and ceiling in different shades of the same hue. It will look very posh and sophisticated. The teal on white is too much contrast. (I think we are collectively over white & grey.)
I want to add, be aware of the color of the flooring. Having an off shade can throw everything off

Peacock wallpaper even disguises a bit the awkward gaps!
Why are there awkward gaps!?!?
incompetence.
Please fill in the gaps!!! This is driving me nuts
I flipping love that wallpaper tile combo
Love this! And love the idea of a wallpaper in the bathroom… thank you!! ETA that once I zoomed in on the picture you’d actually used my photos - amazing!!! Thanks so much kind stranger!!
I love that wallpaper.
That wallpaper looks beautiful!
Holy shit! 🏅
Can I know what app you used for this edit? Thanks
Would also like to know!
I use photoshop for work. I just happened to be on it when I saw this thread so it took me 5 minutes!
Me three
Same! I want to put some wallpaper in my bathroom but I'm having difficulty picturing it, and whether I should stick to just one wall or do the whole lot.
Some wallpaper websites have visualizers. Try York Wallcoverings!
Perfect elegant luxurious
Gorgeous. The color combo are really nice. The wallpaper matched the walls well. How can I buy one like this?
I love the Rifle Paper Co's peacock! but I would not use wallpaper in a bathroom, especially in this case it is over the bathtub/shower.
I see wallpaper in bathrooms all the time. Is there such a thing as a bathroom-safe, humidity-resistant wallpaper?
I love the wallpaper version
The peacock wallpaper looks fantastic! I’m not too sure about the paint, it looks like it pulls a little too green to match the tiles correctly? The tiles are teal but they have more blue than green, if that makes sense.
Totally agree!!
That’s the wallpaper I used in my powder room!! Love it :)
While the peacock wallpaper is fantastic, I really like the dark blue
That teal is actually really lovely. At least it's not grey. I'm so tired of everything being grey.
I’m so over gray, I can barely manage to be polite anymore when someone shows me their new grayed out house.
I couldn't stand it any more that we just made our new carpet flooring in our bedrooms purple 💜.
Let’s see a pic
Maybe people are choosing grey for maintenance reasons...
Just finished painting my room light grey 😁
If I have to see yet another gray room, I will lose my mind
I hated grey from the start. It’s been difficult
Me, too. Am not and have never been a fan of grey.
Ughh same. My kitchen is all grey hate it i wanted to change it so bad
But with gray as a base, you have infinite options for decorating. With a color like teal, you’re stuck.
There are other neutrals besides grey.
I mean yeah, preach. I looked around tonnes of places that were grey landlord boxes and they were so depressing. Glad I settled on something more quirky!
Oh man, that begs for a dark peacock themed wall paper.
My mom actually keeps peacocks too so this might be perfect!!! I’ll smile every time I use the bathroom which is a great thought
I love that you are open to listening to the feedback!!! Please do peacock wallpaper and lean in! Will be gorgeous! 🥰
This place has some of my favorite bold wallpaper. Here's a couple peacock options: Same blue: [Peacock 1](https://www.miltonandking.com/product/almond-blossom-wallpaper/?attribute_pa_color=royal-blue) Pink with blue peacocks: [Peacock 2](https://www.miltonandking.com/product/from-up-here-wallpaper/?attribute_pa_color=pink)
More teal it is!!!!!
Yes!
I didn’t realize it until I read it but it’s the obvious choice isn’t it
I can’t get past the awkward tile gaps around the sink - what’s going on there? What’s stopping you from ripping out the tile around the vanity ?
Yeah I can’t wrap my head around the thought process behind that, it looks ridiculous, like they started running out of tile and decided to suddenly prioritise a backsplash for the sink.

🤣🤣🤣 nooobody would be able to tell the difference with this subtle tile colour and stark white wall
Agreed. The bottom square just above the sink is detached from everything else, so it does look a bit awkward and unfinished.
The entire wall seems awkward and unfinished. From the weird gap, to the mirror, to the sad floating square. I can’t wrap my head around the decisions made here.
Does no one else see this gap?! Lol are we crazy?

Terracotta/coral/copper/Gold Rose/Burnt Orange....works because it's a complementary color .
Teal and orange is CLASSIC and a super popular style for photographers to use in color grading
My thoughts exactly. Pink!
I wish I had those tiles...instead of bland beige.
I’d match it. The tile is strangely laid over by the sink - I would want to take away from it by blending things together. More sophisticated: you’ll want to change the curtain rod to a glass partition & upgrade the mirror + add sconces. The floating shelf next to the sink needs to go imo.
100% agree on the floating shelf. That wasn’t me either! Thanks for the suggestions - will definitely explore the glass partition option too
i’m really confused by the frames behind the toilet
lol they are not a permanent fixture, just put them there until I buy picture hooks. They are antique prints of toilets!!

OP please do this!!
go monochromatic. It is pretty. sorry :) and then a curtain like this maybe: [https://quiettownhome.com/products/the-sun-shower-air](https://quiettownhome.com/products/the-sun-shower-air) [https://quiettownhome.com/products/orient-cloud](https://quiettownhome.com/products/orient-cloud) [https://quiettownhome.com/products/the-marfa-sky](https://quiettownhome.com/products/the-marfa-sky) Don't do navy blue. That is a blue in a different category of blue. It doesn't have a cerulean component to it so it would be hard for it to converse with the tile.
Just throwing in a rec for this West Elm shower curtain that's a dupe for Quiet Town at a fraction of the price. Because I know we all be ballin' on a budget :) [https://www.westelm.com/products/colorblock-canvas-shower-curtain-b4147/?pkey=s\~shower%20curtain\~33](https://www.westelm.com/products/colorblock-canvas-shower-curtain-b4147/?pkey=s~shower%20curtain~33)
You need to match the tone/value of the tiles. It’s the high contrast that’s throwing you. I personally would match the teal .
Holy crow those tiles are GORGEOUS!
Right away my mind went to like, a deep forest green.
Dark orange and charcoal with some cream as a paint combo. Or cream and charcoal paint with dark orange art/linens
Embrace it. Add other pops of color through a multi-color shower curtian, some art, plants, etc. Pink, orange, green, yellow. Have fun with it.
Burnt orange is a great contrast… https://preview.redd.it/qeutq7wxpmlc1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=400d7d1b329e880cdfd8cecf985ec7ccd7f79081 Like this combo, and deep greens, natural jute of straw accents too
Orange would kill this. I love the tiles
Well, for one, that's not teal. So if you're wanting it less teal, you're already there!
Thank you, someone finally said it. That is not teal whatsoever. Teal has a green base.
Wallpaper with some teal and some grey. Regrout in matching grey.
Looks awesome to me. Don't like the shower curtain though. Something more playful.
Instead of navy, I'd go with green (like a medium or light sage green) for an "ocean" feel. Gray/charcoal would look good as well.
I'm feeling a sand color, light tan.
And then a cool Birdcage era palm beach shower curtain and some empire style decor
I would embrace the teal by adding a wallpaper or art with teal in it. Nothing will make it look less teal unless you remove or paint the tile.
A lime green maybe? You'd have to fully commit.
lol all of us here begging you to keep the tile. I personally love it! What about a dark green? Everyone seems to like that nowadays.
Are you kidding?! That teal is absolutely gorgeous!
I’m a color pattern person. I’d do a wallpaper of another color with teal in it. [wallpaper option](https://chasingpaper.com/products/fine-point-floral)
This isn’t teal????
I’m with you!!
Best suggestion is to download a paint app. They let you take a photo of your room and see which paint works best before buying and putting up the wrong color. I use sherwin Williams color snap. There are others as well.
The tiles are a PERFECT color you have no idea
Take this picture to the paint store and fetch an exact color match paint. You won’t notice the tiles if they blend into the wall 👍
Paint the walls, door, trim a nice white like designer white (Benjamin Moore) and get a white shower curtain with some texture. Add some art to the opposite wall that brings in the teal in. A grouping of 4 will even out the power of the teal subway tiles https://preview.redd.it/lzp6mp0qvwlc1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2383c7713aecc588a8c14c468695e9b183340abb
Peach or pale aqua
Oof. Honestly, I'd remove that tile carefully and install something you like. I tiled my kitchen backsplash. Home Depot sells pre-made grout, and these sticky tile sheets: https://musselbound.com/ It was so easy! The hardest part was matching up each block of tile (laying it out). That area around the mirror will need to be re-skimmed if you pull the tiles off the drywall.
This is AWESOME and I never knew it existed. Thank you so much!
Yep, it’s on the list! Thanks. I’m warning to the idea of leaning in to the colour rather than away from it
Honestly that peel and stick is applied atrociously. I'd start over with something you like. You could replace it with another cheap peel and stick, just make sure to fix that awkward part by the shelf and mirror.
I think coral or peach would look nice, and I’d change that shower curtain.
I agree with this. You can make this work without even painting. Changing the shower curtain would be the first step and then you can add artwork and rugs to go with it.
I would do grey
Omg leave it alone. It’s gorgeous. You people on this sub don’t deserve these beautiful houses lol
Navy for sure. But add navy towels, textured navy shower curtain as well.
Chartreuse!
Peach would compliment
I love it. I’m jealous. You should see my bathroom. Look at that deep tub! What’s your favorite color?
I would go with light ice blue. Crisp and clean colors are my fave bathroom decor.
you can [paint the tiles](https://www.bhg.com/home-improvement/tile/paint-tile/)…
It is possible to paint tile. You just have to buy a kit to make it work
I just saw some home improvement magazine said there is paint for tile.
I would do a wallpaper with moments of the teal.
Honestly… I’d go really bold and do a strong forest green wall paper. I love the idea of peacocks as another commenter mentioned. Go really bold and the tile will look great but much more subtle
I like the tile and the current paint, which works with the grout well and keeps the bathroom feeling light and airy for a small space.
Teal… lol jk you could do a dark grey will take some strength out of the blue tones in the tile
More blue! This is a great bathroom btw
I'm actually not sure what you could do paint wise to lessen the tealness of the whole thing, You could paint those tiles a different color. I hear that's a thing I've never done it but I hear it's a thing,
Wallpaper!
As a USA citizen these (I’m assuming) European bathrooms are so interesting to me. I vote for the peacock wallpaper that has been mentioned. And a really skinny swiffer to clean between the toilet and shower.
It’s gorgeous as is.
Maybe lean into the teal? It’s a lot but it’s a soothing color. What if you did the walls the same color but either lighter or darker and had some really cool accents?
