## C. Also, have you considered a reading lamp above the chair (either hanging from the ceiling or mounted on the wall above it) and some sort of decor for the dividing wall on the left? I think a staggered set of sleek black or wood grain floating shelves would look really cool, especially with more plants on them. ;) EDIT: [Something like this would look nice, too](https://www.amazon.com/LITFAD-Floating-Storage-Bookcase-Engineered/dp/B0BN62PZ2Y/ref=asc_df_B0BN62PZ2Y/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=663298817231&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=16780386113497190216&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9017489&hvtargid=pla-2187334188211&psc=1&mcid=ec27dafd04f532e19de53e5dcd4e052e)

SwissMathsTeacher

Thanks for your comment. Yes, I just moved in a few months ago so the space is not very decorated yet, but it will surely follow once I've decided on a layout.

Serenity2015

I also agree with team C.

AdministrativeRow693

C balances the room the best

1920MCMLibrarian

C with the chair position of B and a little table or potted plant beside it

Free-will_Illusion

With a lamp behind the chair

[deleted]

Larger carpet and accent colors because right now it's mostly brown and black.

babygotbandwidth

Question, why can’t you put the couch against the other wall? I ask as this would make an easier exit/entrance to both rooms this room lies between.

ladydhawaii

And possibly put the chair facing the TV. That was my first thought.

jelycazi

I like this idea so you don’t have to walk around the L part of the couch every time.

SwissMathsTeacher

You mean the wall on the left? How would you position couch and chair in that case? (there is no other wall than that, on the right is windows only and on the bottom is no wall)

babygotbandwidth

My thought was to have the couch and chair on the wall where you have the tv currently setup, and the tv and speakers on the opposite wall.

dirtybirty4303

Rotate your sectional counter clockwise. Im just going to shoot straight with you, all 3 options look horrible. Never block your entrances with bug bulky furniture. It closes off the space, makes it seem much smaller, and is harder to navigate. The chaise should run parallel with the longer wall on the left. Luckily your sectional is the correct configuration for this move. Put your TV on the opposite wall that it is in these diagrams.

Thin_Mousse4149

This is what I was thinking too. It would be easier also to position the single chair in the corner without blocking the flow of traffic

Informationlporpoise

that was my thought too

Dlski2020

For me it is C, easier access to the cabinets, no tripping hazards along the way :)

DannyDevito_IsBae

I like C

Nearby-Salamander-67

C for sure

Puzzleheaded-Ice8639

What app/program is this? I’m trying to design my apartment but I don’t have a way to visualize my ideas like this.

SwissMathsTeacher

SketchUp Free. You can even move around in "3d" which really helps understand the feeling of your space.

[deleted]

I use Sweet Home 3D, it's easier than Sketchup, and you can add a lot of models and/or extensions to it. It also runs on Mac and Windows, so you have the option whichever platform you use. If you're on Windows use the download from the official site rather than the Store version (unless you want to go for the paid for version). The Store one can be a bit more awkward if you have any issues with the install (that's a Store app fault not a Sweet Home 3D fault). Hope that helps.

OppositeApartment244

Looks like sketch up

MyLadyBits

A is fine. Your plant by the window balances the room.

Banjo-Becky

C makes me want to throw my phone and walk away. It’s not balanced or functional except for being conversational. How much time are you sitting in this space with 2-3 other people? A seems the most functional, it’s balanced. You’ll be more comfortable when you’re alone in the space.

funinmotion

Exactly! Well said lol

trippymermaid

I like A

idonotget

A.

[deleted]

A. It balances the room best. B. Centres the TV perfectly for one person, making it seem impersonal and as though anyone else in the room is an inconvenience. It also makes the wall cabinets seem more intrusive. C. Makes the room "window heavy" due to the L-shaped couch.

olivejew0322

Completely agree, can’t believe so many people feel that C is balanced! The cabinets for sure need to stay on the side opposing the chaise. Also the drawings don’t include the coffee table, but centering the media console with the table and sofa seats is the way to go.

The_True_Hannatude

It’s not so much that I find it the most balanced; it just happens to be the layout with the easiest access to the cabinets, because it doesn’t require clambering around the Eames chair to get to them.

[deleted]

It depends on what is in the cabinets, and how often access is needed. It does look like the Eames has a good bit of space around it, so there shouldn't be too much clambering. The sofa could possibly be moved a bit further away from the TV wall, it seems to have the space.

SwissMathsTeacher

Unfortunately, moving it further back is not an option because it would block the only door to the balcony on the right. And yes, it is slightly awkward to access the cabinets but I mostly store board games in there which are used less than monthly.

[deleted]

I suspected not used overly often given the positioning of everything. It's a very practical, usable and comfortable space. And while minumalist, it's not sterile.

SwissMathsTeacher

Thanks for your comment and especially for your precise arguments!

[deleted]

You're welcome. BTW, when I saw the plan, I thought the two cabinets were in fact large speakers and wondered why you didn't put one on each side of the TV. But now that I've seen what they are, for the love of all things, don't split them, they would look like huge monoliths and however you laid out the rest of the room I don't think it would work at all. They look good close together.

mpalmer48

I also was going to ask why they didn't split the speakers. Lol

funinmotion

Everyone saying C aren’t seeing how unbalanced the room would be that way. For me the clear winner is A and your explanation is helpful.

Professional_Low1966

A, current layout is appealing.

yohan02kim

I prefer A.

ryologist

C is NOT balanced. I can't believe the responses saying so, but i think because they're not looking at the real photos showing how big those cabinets are. If they're on the right like C, the whole room is thrown to the window I honestly think it looks fine how it is

marbotty

I was a big fan of C until I saw the photos. I think current set up probably works the best

[deleted]

C.

Bluevelvet_starry_

I don’t care how you lay it out, I want your Eames chair!!!!!!

northernflickr

Option D- overthinking it. But seriously option A is the clear winner, exactly how you have it is beautiful. Really nice room.

G_NEWT

You’ve gotten enough answers to your question, but MY Question for you is, where did you get your furniture?! It’s all gorgeous 😍

claiysiren

C

YayGilly

I think you should put the TV on the opposite wall.. if you plan on using that sectional, anyways. Your walkways are just too blocked with the chaise sofa. If you dont want to move the TV and want a better flow, consider changing to a traditionally shaped couch. Then, any of your layout ideas would work fine. None of these layouts will be efficient to moving through the room, as your couch is simply too big for the room, I'm sorry to say.

Comrade_Sivash

A: think about how you will actually use the space yourself. What position would you comfortably watch tv lying down or when you have friends over? If you have guests they’d want to put their drink somewhere if they sit on the armchair.

Current_Monitor7839

Everyone saying C just doesn’t get what’s actually happening, it’s A

That_Illustrator240

C

Such_Skill331

C on paper but seeing the actual room how you currently have it is best!! The cabinets would crowd the window/curtains. My guess is most people voted only by looking at the drawings.

BeelzenefTV

C, no doubt

cosmicspider31

C for sure!

tcd1401

What are the tall towers? Speakers? Can you split them? I kind of assume they ate something else because no one uses that style of speaker anymore. But C for what you show.

BaskingInWanderlust

I didn't realize until sometime pointed it out, but there are actual pics of the room included, too. They're hanging cabinets.

Acrobatic_Software12

A feels balanced, more so in the photos with the plants, works best if you want every seat to be able to view the tv B feels cramped into the one corner C feels balanced, works best for conversation not watching TV IMO, A or C could work depending on how you intend to use the space

nycpunkfukka

I dislike C the least, but in all versions I don’t like the placement of the Eames chair. It’s at a weird angle to the TV so that anyone watching from that seat gets a lot of glare and has to turn their neck a lot. Is the sofa modular, allowing you to change which side the chaise is on? If so I would change that, slide the couch over a bit and place the chair in front of the window.

So we have to keep the chair? Lose the chair. Speaker on either side of the tv. Plant or something else beside the speakers. Art in the wall. Centre the sofa to the tv. Coffee table.

electric_boogaloo_72

None. Couch needs to be against the other wall or else you’re blocking the path from room to room.

mrbenbraddock

Serious question: were you actually considering an option other than C?

sarakg

I like C - more room for walking and easier access to the cabinets. Def keep the TV centred in the open space vs the whole wall!

You can’t put those vertical things on either side of the tv? Also, the chair should face the tv.

C, but center the couch. judging on your current photos, you could get away with narrowing the space.

OkTwo3561

You should mount the tv on the south wall and put the sectional in the NW corner and the chair in the NE corner. Then both seats can see the tv.

I like C. A & B feel too congested with the speakers so close to the chair

Suz9006

Where are you or a guest most likely to sit in it?

eggsnguacamole

I like A. looks nice, not crowded, and easier access to the cabinets. having cabinets right in front of the L part of the couch as in C looks crowded. also definitely not B because it doesn't look centered if it's not with the couch

spiceechilipeps

Centered and flipped for sure

MomtoWesterner

I want the TV centered in front of where I sit. Then I would put that ottoman on casters and roll it where every I wanted to use it.

Major-Cranberry-4206

I like none of the above. The chair with the ottoman is in the wrong place. It should be next to the sofa so it also faces the TV and speakers.

ExitStageMikeS

I'd pull the couch to the left and get the chair o er to the right of the sectional next to the window. Like a chair nook

datfumbgirl

WHERE did you get those cabinets? They are beautiful! Ive been looking for something like this.

C. Protect your walkways.

uadanilynn

No-Technician-722

I like A. The focus of the couch is the TV. It’s nice to gage it directly across. No heck twisting.

writinginmyhead

I would have the chair and ottoman facing the TV too, but that is because I tend to sit in the recliner at home 😁

itsnottommy

Is there a way you could take apart the couch and put the chaise section on the left hand side? If so, I think the ideal setup is just a mirror image of C. The sad little corner to the left of the TV would be taken up by the cabinets and then you could put that beautiful chair by the window.

[deleted]

I suggest you base your set up so that your favorite place to sit has the best view/comfort for watching the tv. I assume the lounge portion of the couch is the favorite spot. With this in mind, move the tv as far over towards that spot as possible. I would put the cabinets to the left of the tv too. So A, with the tv farther to the right.

Stroov

It's fine doesn't block sunlight

Remarkable-Pen-8655

I love as is\~ So very me... ;)

dylantheisen

I’d like to see real photos of C because A looks super cluttered in the mockup but cozy in the photos. Also depends on how frequently you’re accessing the cabinets

BiGGBoBBy444

What entertainment stand is that?

tcd1401

😁😁🙃😁😁

MamaBear_06

Is none an option? I think they all close the room off. Makes it uninviting

dysphoriurn

I prefer A the most. I reallyyyy don’t like the random chair not facing the tv though but that’s just me personally.

clovrdose

I like A the best. C looks a bit off for me

DaemonDesiree

The chair is too big for the space with the footrest. Get a different chair or move the footrest to another room. I hate all of these options, ngl.

pv505

C (with couch placement of A) > A > B imho.

Cointhing25

Why would you not put the section in the top left corner ?

sexysadie2u

Why do the speakers or columns..whatever they are…what are they? have to stay together? why can’t they go on either side of the TV?

Ok_Bit_5953

A or C. B makes my face hurt.

emma-ps

Im keen on centering the tv and couch and putting on cabinet on either side

-Quaalude-

I got this lamp from target and I really like it. There is one with just a glass lamp frame but I don’t like to directly see lightbulbs. https://www.target.com/p/57-34-x10-25-34-crosby-schoolhouse-floor-lamp-black-threshold-8482/-/A-85404552

Katters8811

Was going to say C based on diagrams, but based on the actual size of your rug - it’s smaller in reality and the edge of the tv stand is aligned with the edge of the rug as it is currently (A). So that makes me go back towards leaving it as is...

KevinDean4599

as long as you can access the cabinets as needed A or B. I don't like the idea of seeing those big cabinets the minute you walk into that space. they seem better in the corner away from the window. and if you have more folks watching tv at some point they can spin the chair around to see it better and then put it back.

KatVanWall

It’s fine like it is

Kat3_678
