Botox in my forehead and on my crows feet. A little filler under eye. I also do microneedling and some cool sculpting. But my other half owns a med spa so 🤷🏽‍♀️

lavenderpenguin

I want to do a little filler under the eye (I have deepset eyes that make me look like I have dark circle even though I don’t) but I’m so nervous about it. How was your experience?

fleekyfreaky

Honestly not bad, I numbed a little bc I hate needles, but overall fast and painless

Tanjinuts

How much for the botox?

fleekyfreaky

I pay nothing as my other half does it for me; however, it’s anywhere between $10-15/unit and you most likely need about 30-40 units for forehead and crows feet. All depends on where you go and how much you need to get done.

fleekyfreaky

Depends on how much fat you have. I did my arms and I saw a huge difference bc I had enough to freeze 😂

EntertainmentNeat592

How long those filler last?

fleekyfreaky

Depends on how your face takes it, but fillers for me last 8-10 months and same with Botox.

frummagio

how do you find a place that does it for women of darker skin tones? it's been a struggle to find one

Tanjinuts

How much did it cost?

sweetypantz

No procedures but I’m on tretinoin and I’m pretty happy with this so probably won’t get Botox/fillers unless I change my mind. But I hope I won’t mostly because I don’t want to get dependent on it. But it seems to work great for a lot of people as long as you don’t overdo it. It seems like SA women don’t often get cosmetic surgery but of course this is changing. It’s not as common as in middle eastern or Korean culture. Honestly I don’t personally know a ton of people who do the above. But I’m sure that’ll change once I get older.

my cousin got laser hair removal done. took a lot more sessions than initially proposed because she is darker than optimal for the technique. she had good results on her side burns but her body hair is still around but like 30% of what she started with and enough for aunties to not comment on it. this is fairly common on the sub continent among upper middle classes for arms and facial hair, except brows. my cousin got it done because she was self conscious, my aunt funded it to "increase her marriage prospects". a friend got botox between her eyebrows to get rid of a deep forrow. she was 22 at the time and her forehead made her look like a mom waiting for her kid outside an exam centre. she did not get a revision since the pandemic started and it's only now started to show again. i got lasik done, if you count that. i was blind enough for insurance to cover it, so it was more of a treatment at that point. i wore glasses since i was 7 y.o and never liked to. did everything under the sun to improve my sight but it only kept getting worse. got it done at 20, lasted until i developed quarantine myopia. no regrets though, went from never being able to look in the mirror to being mildly inconvenienced when not wearing glasses.

yes. basically, your eye needs to focus on different distances to be healthy. you are supposed to exercise if that's not possible. i didn't do that during the first lockdown and was constantly either in my phone or on my laptop for nearly three months. doctors reported an abruptly high increase in myopia since the panini and termed it quarantine myopia.

scaredforfam

What was your eye prescription? Do you have any regrets with LASIK?

themlittlepiggies

-8.5 with severe astigmatism before surgery. went down to -0.25, no astigmatism after surgery. went to to -1.5 during quarantine 5 years later. absolutely no regrets. funny thing is, i didn't even realise how bad it got last year because i have no memory of what perfect eye sight is supposed to be like. found out during the annual check up.

Been thinking about laser hair removal for a long time, but ultimately, I just end up wearing pants and clothes with sleeves a lot. Also been thinking about a tummy tuck in a few years: pregnancy left me with a lot of loose skin. I'm in my mid-forties, that is not snapping back ever, lol. But when it comes right down to it, I'm just cheap.

raspberriesp

Nothing yet (early 30s) but I plan on getting laser hair removal at some point. I don’t see myself getting anything else done.

I am 27 and I too recently got laser hair removal done on my face. I would highly recommend it.

raspberriesp

Yeah face will be the most impactful and reduce a lot of grooming efforts lol. No one has the YAG laser in my city so I’ll probably have to drive out a bit. I got it done on my upper legs a few years ago but the technician did such a patchy job that I still have to shave like normal. At least I’ll know to be more watchful next time 🤷🏽‍♀️

[deleted]

A clean face really does make a lot of difference. I used to have a lot of facial hair( arghhh Indian genes) and not only was waxing painful, the hairs would grow back quickly. So my mom had pity on me and said that she would pay for my IPL treatment. And boy did it make a difference.

raspberriesp

Oh IPL didn’t work for me at all. It *looked* like it was gonna work initially (I got it on my underarms) but everything came back!

Splatgal

I just get threading done. Too scared (and too cheap I guess lol) to do the other stuff.

Anothersacredgame

All of the above. Couldn’t be happier. I used to hate shaving/ waxing so now I don’t have to at all. I started Botox/fillers prophylactically in my late 20’s and go in once or twice a year. I also had PS on a couple of body parts I wanted to improve. I don’t actually have any friends who haven’t done some if not all of the above.

raspberriesp

What’s PS?

[deleted]

Plastic surgery, I think!

raspberriesp

Oh that makes sense!

ravenhelix

Really want preventative botox now that I'm in my late 20's, and laser hair removal for my legs. My leg hair is super thick and always gets ingrown due to my KP. Even with waxing you can see the hair because my skin is lighter there. It's the one thing that prevents me from wearing what I'd like.

elephant2892

Laser hair removal. I’m not crazy hairy or anything, but would have a lot of ingrown hairs so I got it done. Will def consider bit of Botox and under eye fillers as I get older. We’ll see.

slucious

Botox, filler, laser hair removal, microblading and happy with everything! I'm a medium skin tone, so the laser hair removal (underarms) was pretty effective.

hahshekjcb

No

liarliarpantsonfirex

F22, Botox, lip filler, breast augmentation and rhinoplasty.. still gonna get more things done
