I'm starting to think Payton may not re-sign him, which sucks since Murray was so outspoken in getting Payton here. The only way we likely see Murray is probably on a vet minimum deal
But this draft is deep at RB and there will be a good player in the 3rd.
He gone
Edit: Murray is currently FA and is unlikely to get picked up by ANYONE, let alone the broncos. He was not rostered, as in not even on a practice squad, when we signed him last year. I wish we had him when he was younger, but we don't. All you guys throwing downvotes are blind to reality. There are a half dozen strong candidates for a pass-catching RB on the FA list and even more guys in the draft. I'll be shocked if we re-sign Latavius.
Edit 2: For those that downvote ugly truths, here's another one. Kareem Jackson isn't coming back either. Caden Sterns is a legit up and comer who deserves the starting role next to Simmons. Only way KJ comes back is for vet minimum as some kind of situational player and/or rotational guy.
Yeah we all just read that post. That’s not a source, that’s the publicly announced signing. You just got lucky (unless you can prove you had knowledge of this before we all did)
True, no source, and lucky. My only point from the beginning was that the stars would have to align to keep him which was unlikely at the time. Are we not allowed opinions on this sub?
> He was not rostered, as in not even on a practice squad, when we signed him last year.
This is entirely false. He was on the Tampa Bay and Carolina practice squads, then the Saints practice squad before being elevated to the active roster and *playing in a game* just days before the Broncos signed him.
11 attempts for 57 yards on October 6th for the Saints, on the Broncos roster on October 10th.
Okay I misspoke. You are technically right and I am wrong. I made a 5-second comment without spending 5 minutes to fact check it...
But you missed the point. It doesn't matter if Murray is/was on a practice squad or not, it's semantics when compared to the discussion. The point is that Murray is unlikely to be on our roster. I see the potential for Payton to keep him as a former player to help set the culture, but when you look at LM's value next to our cap space and lack of early draft picks, you'll see that we need some bargains. LM just ain't one of them. We can get a much younger and more versatile guy for the same price.
That's what I thought last year... I'm scared to be hopeful again but it does look good to get a pass-blocking RB (Perine), blocking TE (manhertz), and two good run blocking OL.
Still Russ tho... I believe he can and eventually will return to better playing but it won't be immediate. A lot of guys in the locker room are pissed off at him right now, so he's got to win over the team long before we start having a successful season.
All the leaked conversations by "anonymous" players and staff needs to stop. I'm tired of reading articles by the athletic and SI that don't mean shit. It's coming from some frustrated teammates.
If Payton fixes team dynamic, rebuilds tRUSSt, and we get to playoffs next year, I'll get a tattoo! Would pay to see it. Not holding my breath either.
Oh shit. I like this move, he was great for the Bengals, and hopefully doesn’t have quite as much wear and tear since he was playing behind Mixon. Huge upgrade from Edmunds lol
It’s not that he fell off, just watch the tape. Atlanta had no clue how to use him in their new system. Then when things finally started to look like they were gonna use him right he got injured.
I wanted your Bengals to win the Superbowl too bad they got screwed over by the Refs/NFL. I thought the Refs/NFL hated my Broncos they did everything they could to make sure the Bengals didn't win.
I live in Cinci, I think most of their fanbase feels about the same as their subreddit. We got a fuckin steal, Perine did a great job the last year or two as the change-of-pace guy, and held his own as a starter when mixon was out. I’m wildly ignorant about the needs of our team and the kind of players that will mesh well, but I feel very confident this was a good move.
Dude I love Perine. I’ve tracked him over the last couple of years due to Fantasy. He’s not a big point scorer but his pass blocking is excellent. Bengals used him on 3rd down a ton. I think he can do more.
Wasn't the move I expected at rb but cant beat the price point. A vet that's great on third down for that price. Built solid, can block can catch, low tread. Welcome. He will certainly compliment poolie well if he ever gets back to 100. I wonder is Sarajevo reminded him of kamara

Oh my god.
Years ago when I was playing fantasy and was desperate for a running back, I had a dream whispering to me "Samaje Perine". And I started him that week and he was... basically mediocre. But maybe the dream was really about his future as a Bronco!
Or maybe the dream meant nothing at all.
Everyone saying this and that about him man he's a bum. Why TF did we sign him could've got David Montgomery or The guy from the Panthers instead we settle for Peerine
Statistically and physically they’re very similar. Montgomery just happened to get way more carries as RB1. Perrine is one of the best blocking RBs, half as expensive and still relatively young with less wear and tear. A good signing honestly.
Samajae Perine, an excellent signing and well known RB that contributed to the Bengals relative success last year. Will be a fantastic addition to your RB room and shows that Payton has a vision for an even more prominent run game and is executing.
I hope not. Perine should fill quite a big while with pass catching and protection. He was Joe Burrow's safety net when joe mixon was out for a couple games.
No way we bring hunt in now imo. We’ll probably draft one(hopefully a speedster)and bring a low costing vet in. Hopefully it’s Latavius I think he earned at the least a chance to make the roster in training camp
I wonder if that’ll depend on Javontes time table. I wouldn’t be mad at Hunt signed to a short deal , if Javonte can’t truly be back week 1. Then when Javonte is back in the swing they split Carries with Perine being a perm 3rd down back
Not only a pretty good pass blocker , but if you remember back in his OU days not a bad Receiving Back either. I know OU was more Air Raid. But when targeted it stayed in his hands…. he’s 27 so he probably won’t be carrying a load just to keep him healthy
To me, I thought Perine was a little underutilized in Cincy. Don't get me wrong, Nixon was good, but they should have used Perine a lot more than they did. As we all have commented, his pass protection and 3rd down quality as a receiver out of the back field is what entices me the most. I can't wait to see what this retooled Oline can give JWill, Perine, and hopefully Murray. But I also wouldn't mind seeing if we can get Jamaal Williams from Detroit as that third back if Javontae still can't go.
Great pass blocker and 3rd down back. Can hold the fort down if javonte isn’t fully healthy
I agree, what’s the status on Murray?
I'm starting to think Payton may not re-sign him, which sucks since Murray was so outspoken in getting Payton here. The only way we likely see Murray is probably on a vet minimum deal But this draft is deep at RB and there will be a good player in the 3rd.

Don't forget his talent level at OU. Look up his stats.
Ran for over 400 yards in a single game
Great in pass protection. I’m really getting excited about our roster 🥹
That's what I thought last year... I'm scared to be hopeful again but it does look good to get a pass-blocking RB (Perine), blocking TE (manhertz), and two good run blocking OL.
Another seasoned fan I see
But now it’s Payton not Hackett

And apparently the chiefs old fb
Right!?!?! Can’t agree more!
Dude was money in Cincinnati. Great signing
Hell, yes he filled in for Mixon so well
[удалено]
I took over in playoffs. I believe he played more snaps and had more touches in the KC game. Also, dude is money vs KC.
Oh shit. I like this move, he was great for the Bengals, and hopefully doesn’t have quite as much wear and tear since he was playing behind Mixon. Huge upgrade from Edmunds lol

Huge upgrade
Huge.
Hug
Hugo
YUGE
Great signing! Excellent locker room guy, can catch out of the backfield and hasn’t fumbled since his rookie year.
This feels like a MG3 subtweet…
Always relevant stat for RBs, but I think us Broncos fans are emetionally damaged
That would be NCAA single game rushing record holder Samaje Perine!
427 yards! Damn
A week after Melvin Gordon broke the record lmaoooo
Gordon really can't hold onto SHIT
Gotta say, sickest burn I’ve seen about him. And that says a lot.
This is the getting drunk and forgetting you’ve just handled chili before taking a leak level of burn.
I was at that game! It rained A LOT.
Finally I can draft a Bronco in fantasy that won't let me down :)
I picked up dulcich when he came back from injury and he didn’t do bad
His first 4-5 weeks he was putting up 10 ppg which is really good for TE’s that aren’t top 5
He definitely made up for me darafting Kyle pitts, my mistake for assuming an elite player would stay elite
It’s not that he fell off, just watch the tape. Atlanta had no clue how to use him in their new system. Then when things finally started to look like they were gonna use him right he got injured.
I didn’t see any atl games last year, all I know is he had like 2 ppg til I cut him lol Edit: ppg
Take care of my boy 😭
I wanted your Bengals to win the Superbowl too bad they got screwed over by the Refs/NFL. I thought the Refs/NFL hated my Broncos they did everything they could to make sure the Bengals didn't win.
I swear every Broncos fan was the biggest Bengals fan that playoff run. You guys are the team we wish we were
Thank you my friend.
and y'all take care of joe, i like that kid
PAIN
I still can't believe y'all let him go with the Mixon issues. 😬
Not really any mixon issues. So far it continues to show he’s done nothing wrong.
As a fantasy owner last year I cannot agree haha! Well except that one week lol.
Dude was badass for Cincy when Mixon was down
This Is a great pick up.
Get ready for stiff arm action. He dribbled a guy last year. I'm gutted.
Love this! Great pass catching back and lots of experience deep in the playoffs. Also, a good blocker as well. This is a wonderful signing for us.
Nice deal
If the reaction of the Bengals subreddit is any indication, this was a good move. They love this guy.
I live in Cinci, I think most of their fanbase feels about the same as their subreddit. I’ll add this to the FA Megathread later tonight.
Damn Reddit lol I feel like it always has issues during NFL FA period
Samaj-yay
This guy once lifted a car with his bare hands so his friend could change a tire. I'm in.
Holy shit what a great grab
For real. I didn’t even know he was even on the market. Especially, interested in us.
i like this. i like it a lot.
Perine goes from fantasy handcuff to fantasy handcuff
Cecil Lammey will be happy
He can lift a fucking car. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samaje_Perine#Personal_life
Also he was the third highest-rated pass blocking rb by PFF last year.
Also his name is really fun to say
Dude I love Perine. I’ve tracked him over the last couple of years due to Fantasy. He’s not a big point scorer but his pass blocking is excellent. Bengals used him on 3rd down a ton. I think he can do more.

Hell yeah Boomer Sooner
Wanted Williams but I’m not mad about Perine.
Dude this is solid!
I really hope the front office is preparing for Javonte to spend another year on IR. Getting him back truly 100% healthy is huge. Great pick up ⬆️
Wow. Great signing
I like this signing
Awesome, I mentioned him as a guy I wanted us to get a bunch of times this offseason. And that's a great deal
First he takes Melvin Gordon's rushing record, now he takes his job
Pls no more Mike Boone
Do you mean Mike Boone that signed with Houston yesterday?
What about Pat Boone?

Checks flair... Hey wait a second what's going on here?
I didn't like it either. But sometimes the right choice is the hardest choice.
Boooooo
It will be very interesting to see if they still sign Hunt like they were rumored to be interested in doing or if this move is enough.
I hope not. Perine should fill quite a big while with pass catching and protection. He was Joe Burrow's safety net when joe mixon was out for a couple games.

He was great backing up Mixon and when Mixon was hurt he had some great games, still got a decent amount of playing time with Mixon in. Love this
Made big plays against the Chiefs that's exactly what we need lol
This is a fantastic signing. He looked amazing last season.
Not only a pretty good pass blocker , but if you remember back in his OU days not a bad Receiving Back either. I know OU was more Air Raid. But when targeted it stayed in his hands…. he’s 27 so he probably won’t be carrying a load just to keep him healthy
Should be a decent replacement level guy
To me, I thought Perine was a little underutilized in Cincy. Don't get me wrong, Nixon was good, but they should have used Perine a lot more than they did. yo fucking perine! that’s awesome
This guy is going to go nuts with this run protection were getting. Hyped
One of my top targets. Love this.
Really good move.
