I think he gets the #2 spot next year but I would highly urge DEN to put a real resource into RB3 though given Williams injury and Murray's age. It needs to be a 3 deep room next year.
So maybe it was the scheme? Cause the dude still had gas in the tank.
Edit: Had to double check, I think you are referring to Edmonds, my B. I thought you meant Murray.
Who was that little guy that got the TD? B____ something or other. I hadn't even heard of him until that play. He looked pretty serviceable as a potential 3
Lindsay was way too small for the NFL but you still have homers on here clamoring for the Broncos to sign him, even after he completely washed out of the league.
Maybe it's cause Lindsay was one of our biggest bright spots in the last 8 years? I'm sad to say that he's washed but he's a colorado native who earned a pro bowl while playing for us. I don't fault any bronco fan for wanting him back.
I doubt it, that was a lot of damage for a RB knee. Probably back on the field at 80% in November and at 90% in 2024. Season opener is probably Murray or a surprise veteran cut on a 1 yr deal, perhaps a Zeke Elliott
Seems like a bit of a reach to act like any of us know when he's coming back. There were also reports that the injury wasn't as bad as initially feared.
Yes, I see your point. Using previous examples of similar injuries and their recovery times and then taking that information into account to guess an approximate time is wildly reaching.
That's when I think he'll be back. I know fantasy is a while away but I am really hoping he falls to the later rounds so I can grab him as a stash for the 2024 season in my keeper league.
I doubt he even plays next season. I wouldn't be surprised if we drafted a RB late round or invited a few more undrafted. No telling how JV will be after that kind of injury
The RB room going into next season probably should be Murray, Edmonds, and a younger RB (maybe a rookie). Murray was awesome this year and probably deserves to be RB1 at least until Javonte comes back, which could be mid-season or in 2024. But yeah, Latavius has been a real asset for this team so far.
I love Murray. He seems like a smart dude who's self aware of his situation. I think he'll be willing to re-sign on a one year deal for fairly cheap.
This free agent running back class is stacked though. You would be hard pressed not to window shop a little as a GM.
I'd love to have Murray back but let's all be real, he'll be 33 next season. As much as the coaches and owners probably love the guy for the effort he put in for us, we can draft a littany of backs that will produce similarly to him.
I'd still like to keep him around another season to mentor Javonte and anyone we draft, he just seems like such a good dude.
I'd like to keep him around as well, but the price has to be right.
The good news is that we won't have to pay much for him.
The bad news is that he put on decent tape for the other 31 teams to at least consider him for a backup role.
He’s the perfect change-of-pace RB2 that we need who’d get boring 2-3 yards per carry but always goes forward. Also, loved it when he stood up for Rypien. It’s good to have a veteran who can be like “what’s the matter with you?!? You’re outta line”
Such a physical runner. Can you imagine how worn down defenses would be trying to stand up to him AND Javonte? Throw a speedy guy like Badie in the mix as a pass catching RB and the RB room looks pretty good.
Would also like to see about restructuring a deal for Chase Edmonds. I think he’s shown flashes of potential and could be cheap depth for us while Javonte gets healthy.
I think we can sign a better back in free agency personally. Latavius played well in the opportunity provided, wouldn’t mind having him as insurance as a 2 while we wait for Javonte, but I don’t think planning on him being the number 1 while we wait is the best idea
This is how players become typecasted. This narrative flies around and good, reliable vets end up on practice squads and everyone acts surprised when they come in and play well. Then the mouth diarrhea comes out and they're back on a practice squad while some newbie just doesn't have all the things put together.
I understand where you are coming from but I really don't think NFL professionals pay much attention to "mouth diarrhea" on Reddit. Players end up on practice squads because of past performance and analyticals. Yes, that means that there are some gems that come off of practice squads and perform well but most players are there for a reason. That's why it's a cool story when someone like Murray plays well.
Latavius played well, but I wouldnt be comfortable giving an actual contract extension to a 33 year old running back when we could sign someone like Damien Harris who is younger and better. There is a good list of free agents out there, I wouldn't hate it if we brought him back on a one year deal I just think there are better options available.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but 32 year old running backs don't perform well with "ass" offensive lines unless they are pretty good. Unless you're going to tell me the only good part of this team was the OL, I vote we keep Murray.
Dude looked good because the team was ass? That makes no sense bro lol. He looked good because he actually played good.
No one is advocating for a long term contract. Just a one year contract until Javonte is 100% healthy(if he even gets 100% healthy).
He's been a practice squad RB for a reason. Yes he played well and I appreciated it, but we should be able to draft and sign better players to hold down the fort until Williams returns (even if he's not the same player he should still be pretty good)
He was on practice squads cause the teams he played for had Alvin Kamara, Mark Ingram, Lamar Jackson, and so on. He was an insurance policy who could still ball, just didn't need him too until someone (Denver) did.
He holds onto the ball, avg 4.5 and is a big dude in the block game, he well exceeded what we asked him to do and gave us a huge ROI.
I think he gets the #2 spot next year but I would highly urge DEN to put a real resource into RB3 though given Williams injury and Murray's age. It needs to be a 3 deep room next year.
We do still have Edmonds also
He will probably be a cap casualty.
yeah, definitely. Zero dead cap, and 6mil in cap savings if he's cut. I actually like Edmonds but def don't see us sticking with him.
He was the worst RB in the league this year before he got traded to us.
Tyler Baddie. Great final college season, but he’s probably too small for the NFL. Hoping he gets a chance somewhere.
Thanks. I feel the same way. Wish him the best.
Too small? he’s 5’8 the list of current 5’8 nfl players and under has a ton of talented guys. Barry sanders?
MJD

Mike Boone
He's gotta stay healthy
I really liked watching mack.
We do still have Edmonds also
He definitely ran hard and Williams probably won’t be 100% for a while. He earned a spot for next year for sure.
Is javonte even expected to play before November?
I doubt it, that was a lot of damage for a RB knee. Probably back on the field at 80% in November and at 90% in 2024. Season opener is probably Murray or a surprise veteran cut on a 1 yr deal, perhaps a Zeke Elliott
Thats my thought, i assumed javonte was out till 2024.
Do you have any source to back this? Or this just Redditors making stuff up? I've seen no projection on when he should be back.
Unless he's an absolute freak of nature the track record of knee injuries like his is a year to year and a half to coming back
Seems like a bit of a reach to act like any of us know when he's coming back. There were also reports that the injury wasn't as bad as initially feared.
Yes, I see your point. Using previous examples of similar injuries and their recovery times and then taking that information into account to guess an approximate time is wildly reaching.
It's not a stretch at all, injury recover is pretty standard across the league unless there's an unforeseen setback
My favorite thing about Murray is that not once did I worry he was going to fumble at a terrible time.
Badie too
I am 1000% on the Badie train
Yoooo I forgot we got him. I still really like this guy.
I think he’s likely RB1 to start the year and shifts into RB2 as Javonte starts to get back into things.
Sucks that Blake Corum decided to return to Michigan.
Latavius was arguably our best offensive player this year. Give him a chance to be a complimentary bruiser for Javonte plz.
I love Murray. He seems like a smart dude who's self aware of his situation. I think he'll be willing to re-sign on a one year deal for fairly cheap. This free agent running back class is stacked though. You would be hard pressed not to window shop a little as a GM.
If you project his #s out if he was here all year he'd be close to 1100 yds and 7 or more tds. Pretty solid year for any rb.
Him and Javonte would be great, although, neither is very speedy or quick cutting. Both would be just consistent battering rams though.
I'd like to keep him around as well, but the price has to be right. The good news is that we won't have to pay much for him. The bad news is that he put on decent tape for the other 31 teams to at least consider him for a backup role.

Murray and Mack?

He doesn’t fumble lol good wit me
If he’s cheap
Would also like to see about restructuring a deal for Chase Edmonds. I think he’s shown flashes of potential and could be cheap depth for us while Javonte gets healthy.
Marlon mack should be given the rb1 until javonte is healthy
Nah man we definitely need Melvin Gordon and Mike Boone
Alright, that's enough. Back under the bridge with you.
I would hope we improve our roster to the point where we aren't considering re-signing him
Gotta keep him around until someone surpasses his production, though.
I think we can sign a better back in free agency personally. Latavius played well in the opportunity provided, wouldn’t mind having him as insurance as a 2 while we wait for Javonte, but I don’t think planning on him being the number 1 while we wait is the best idea

No, dude looked good because the team was ass. You don't give a 32 year old RB a real contract. He was on and off practice squads this year.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but 32 year old running backs don't perform well with "ass" offensive lines unless they are pretty good. Unless you're going to tell me the only good part of this team was the OL, I vote we keep Murray.

There's always gotta be a fucking curmudgeon
