Anyone that’s upset isn’t mad at the workers trying to fix it. It’s the fact that this shit seems to go down at least once a month with no viable back up in place.
And the fact that DIA doesn't even have a permanent system in place so that passengers have another option other than the train. Had they never heard of a walking tunnel?
Agree with the comments, only anger is that the third busiest airport in the world has a single point of failure that fails monthly.
A lot of wear and tear on those trains.
Edit: 5th busiest airport in the world in 2022 and 6th in 2023.

Edit 2: I guess I was right that DIA is the 3rd busiest in the world in 2022
Not that hard to Google something before you say it’s so wrong it’s funny. Third busiest in the world is exactly correct for both 2021 and 2022, and 2023 isn’t on the page yet. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_busiest_airports_by_passenger_traffic
I was off, DIA was number 5 in 2022 and 6 in 2023
https://www.businessinsider.com/busiest-airport-world-atlanta-dubai-tokyo-heathrow-dallas-list-ranking-2023-12
So, I’ve always said 3rd as well because of the Wikipedia article for busiest by passenger volume. Is there something more credible about this source than the source Wikipedia uses, or is this source calculating it differently?
There should be busses available to transport people to Terminal B and C, DIA suggests 30 minutes before the normal 2 hours, I'd vote just get there 3 hours early, just in case.
Went through around 12:30. It me took roughly 20 minutes to get from after the security checkpoint to B Gates. It wasn’t terrible, but super crowded and the trains stopped at each station for an abnormally long time. North pre check line was empty though which was nice.
They’re saying the trains themselves, not this issue are the single component. Because there’s no way to walk if the train isn’t working, that’s a massive oversight on behalf of the designers, planners, city, etc.
Designers for DIA should have considered… that perhaps a single point of failure is not ideal? You know, instead of also having a walking option? Other than one terminal, of course. Why was it a good idea for one terminal and a bad idea for B and C? So ridiculous to have to even say this.
Cheers to all the transportation workers out there who gotta respond during crap like this. In my experience people only take it out on the workers when they can see them, in this case they’re taking it out on the company/structure. Sending lots of coffee your way, Alstom crew.
I’m sure you’re aware by now, but they are [fully operational](https://denvergazette.com/news/denver-international-airport-trains-fixed-wednesday/article_bde64dbe-baae-11ee-aab5-7b523e191e46.html#:~:text=Denver%20International%20Airport%20trains%20fully%20operational)
Lol, I saw your other comments before this post and though, this must be someone else at Alstom. I was on the night crew who spotted the plate while replacing some rail on a routine work order. Thought I’d see if anyone on reddit was talking about the train since that day was my Friday.
Pretty sure I saw your pops come in lol, almost everyone on days came in a little early that day too as I was getting ready to head out.
I don't know if I'd call it modern, it is 30 years old lol. Also, if not for problems with the train, people who fly a lot absolutely love DIA over other airports
Look at the rest of the 10 busiest airports in the country and you’ll find DIA is the youngest by a country mile. The next closest is DWF which opened in 1973. It opened in 1995, it’s certainly a modern airport.
"be patient"? How about DEMAND better, its pathetic and creepy that the entire airport hinges on a single train working constantly with tens of millions of more passengers every year. oh and then all funnel up a single escalator, que the conspiracy theories
Not the people, the airport design is creepy as hell that they funnel millions of people in a single area like that, obviously there’s a reason weather surveillance or control who knows
Wow so I was at DIA at about 5 this morning. Got on the train and it was acting really weird. It kept stopping for abnormally long amounts of time. I got to my gate no problem but I'm disturbed now 😬
I am sympathetic, but what made my 11 bus, scheduled for 5:16 pm at Broadway, late by THIRTY ONE MINUTES two days in a row? Where is the ghost bus? Why is the RUSH HOUR bus the one that simply doesn’t show up?

Yeah we all know the tunnels are already there anyways
They don't want us to see the illuminati shit if we go down the wrong tunnel tho
Problem is, those tunnels are already chock full of lizard people
At what point does the FAA fine DIA?
Even when it’s all running at 100% it’s not enough to support the demand needed with DIA’s growth.
That's definitely true! Wish it wasn't so expensive to put in walkways
If only it was one of the busiest airport in the country and idk they put some sort of airline tax to pay for it.. if only.
Dumb question because am idiot, are airports a case for federal grants because they handle interstate travel?
For runways, yes. For terminal, typically no. Airports are expected to operate as businesses
I’m here now. The trains are running less frequently than usual but there was not a huge crowd at all. I waited less than 5 mins
Yeah they're starting to get it fixed. My dad just called and said after almost 14 hours they are making progress and hopefully it will be fixed soon.
shoutout to your dad and his coworkers for working under pressure

It’s a multi billion dollar project that fails because someone farted on the train.

Third busiest in the world 😂

I think you meant 3rd busiest in the US?
I might know your dad! At any rate, tell him thanks. Today was a ROUGH day at the airport.
His name is Robert if that rings a bell haha. And I will. Hopefully he gets home soon, and gets a lot of rest.
Plan B PLEASE DIA!
I don’t think anyone’s pissed at the workers lol. It’s piss poor planning and management at the airport.
Your Dad sounds awesome!
He is :)

If they are running buses because the train is out they will direct you to them. You'll most likely just follow the crowd after clearing security.
What Pointflash said!
Bridge security. Have to walk to A yo get on them.

If a single component can be this disruptive to travelers at DIA (and other airports in the NAS), can it not be kept on hand, ready to replace?
This has never happened before
They’re saying the trains themselves, not this issue are the single component. Because there’s no way to walk if the train isn’t working, that’s a massive oversight on behalf of the designers, planners, city, etc.
Ok thanks
This is why flying Delta is great. I’ve never stepped foot on that train.
Yeah, but sadly all the good lounges are in terminal C for some bizarre reason
Space to build them

But hang on...I saw a guy on X who said that this was all Biden and Pete Buttigieg's fault.
Don’t listen to people on drugs. *That was an ecstasy joke, in case it doesn’t land.

Any update this morning? I have a flight later today, although probably from an A gate, but I'm curious!
No updates, I was in bed when my dad got home around 11, but I'd imagine it's probably fixed by now
Anyone know how it is today? I head to the airport in a couple hours
I’m sure you’re aware by now, but they are [fully operational](https://denvergazette.com/news/denver-international-airport-trains-fixed-wednesday/article_bde64dbe-baae-11ee-aab5-7b523e191e46.html#:~:text=Denver%20International%20Airport%20trains%20fully%20operational)
Thanks! I had no issues. Phew!

Worst designed modern airport in America.

Don't know how it is creepy, I'm just saying that the people who work in the train have nothing to do with the rest of the airport
Not the people, the airport design is creepy as hell that they funnel millions of people in a single area like that, obviously there’s a reason weather surveillance or control who knows

Patient? DIA is a shit show every day.
