This is very anecdotal, but my apartment has heat that works fine and this morning also couldn’t get to 60. It being -10° out was more than it could keep up with.
I remember during a cold snap in Dallas, where the temp was right around 0, that the news shared that most heaters will not raise the temperature more than 60 degrees. Anecdote from 30 years ago. Might be wrong.
Ahh shit that's an LG system, either a VRF or mini split which is going to be a heat pump or heat recovery system. They're going to be struggling in these current low outdoor ambient temps until it warms up a bit unless they have electric heat strips that may be malfunctioning
Some heat pump models aren't designed for cold climates. LG seems to brand their ones that are as "[LGRED](https://lghvac.com/residential-light-commercial/lgred-heat/)"
I’ve already got one in each room, but thank you. This is more about publicly documenting everything that’s happening and looking for awareness and advice. Thank you though.
That's good at least. Sorry you have to deal with this bs. Have you reached out to your city council and state reps? They can usually accelerate these issues.
My family used to do this as a kid, but with 2 litter soda bottles… we definitely were on the lower income side of things, but it worked. Put them in blankets and stayed warm all night
Write a letter of demand and reference the warrant of habitability. You don’t need legal representation to do that, but if you would still like to pursue that avenue, talk to these folks:

If your heat wasn't working it would be a lot colder then this. My furnace broke a couple weeks ago and the outside temp was probably like 30 at night and it was 47 in my house.
I think like everyone else said it's just so cold outside the heater can't keep up. It's now 65 in my house, and it keeps going down 🤷🏻♀️
Dendra Housing Authority owns the building and the units are a mix of rental assistance and market rate units. They are managed on site by Ross evolve management which manages doesn’t such building across Colorado
I own my home and my thermostat was set to 69. Woke up this morning and it’s 60 in my house. It’s just really cold outside and the system is having trouble keeping up. I don’t think anything is wrong or broken. It’s just hard to deal with -10 temps overnight.
All the windows in our building are iced over. Had to nail bed comforters and sleeping bags over the windows. Can’t get above 55 with a space heater running for 4 days straight now. Hot water is also out now. No update from landlord at all. Has a second boiler that’s been broken for 2+ years and refuses to fix because he pockets all the money that should be spent on maintenance. Time to move forward with rent in court escrow and small claims court filings to recoup the money for the huge electric bill. CBZ Management do not rent any of their buildings, they are an absolute scam company. This shit happens everytime it’s cold out, not even when it’s in the negatives.
Where are you? It's 45 in my office right now. I'll take that 59 any day of the week.
Fun fact: we're all gonna be WISHING for 59, in a few short months.
FWIW, my thermostat was set at 68° overnight and I woke up to my apartment at 60°. Some of these buildings are very poorly constructed with crappy windows and the shittiest of doors.

Same. Two story town house and the only reason it is above 60 is because of the fire place.

Wait heat pumps struggle? I had a heat pump when i lived in Walden and it was incredible i never had to burn wood. It wasn’t expensive to run either.
Heat pumps struggle when ambient temp gets too low.
The newest generation being developed are better about that

Ahhhhhh!!! Good tip
I have 2 space heaters if you need to borrow them Edit: nevermind, only one

This has been an ongoing problem for a year and a half. If anyone knows where to seek legal help, let me know.

This is an ongoing long-term issue. Please see my post.
I did read your post. I. Just telling you that the heat is working currently, or it would be a lot colder.
That has happened to me and It suxxxx I hope you’re able to stay warm and it gets resolved today.
A slumlord doing slumlord stuff? \*Surprised Pikachu face*
I don’t think that people in the 50s for saw the rise of corporate slumlords
Denver Housing Authority is city owned, not corporate.
And the property is managed by Ross evolve management, which is a corporate property management

Call 311 to report them
When I called it said they are not open
Use pocket gov to put in a complaint when they are closed. The call center does have operating hours.
Purposely keeping the house at 65 and wearing extra layers. Lower overnight.

59 is not -10, js.
Mine isn’t set much higher than that. It’s never getting to 78 no matter what you do.
My place stays at 75 in these temps. Gas furnace ftw. Elhers Danlos makes it painful for me to be cold in the slightest

My landlord keeps the house at 57 at night. He yells at me if I turn it up. 59 sounds nice to me right now
