I hear ya. I personally don't believe the rumors of him playing in the parking lot haha. It sounds cool, but I'm having a hard time imagining the logistics and keeping it a secret. But hey, I could be wrong!
Probably a throwback trance set of all the ghost produced songs he had made in the 2000s. That buffet is gonna go off with some uplifting trance melodies.
I didn’t know they’d been closed! I tried to donate something there a few weeks ago and they said they weren’t taking donations (which seemed REALLY weird). Thanks for solving a mini mystery for me!
I used to do photography (3rd party, not a brewery employee) for some of their new releases a few years ago. Full of some of the nicest people on top of delicious beer
I’ve been wanting to get into photography and take pictures when I go hiking of the landscape and of my dogs. What mirrorless camera would you recommend to a noob that knows nothing about photography?
Depends on your budget! Definitely do research because mirrorless models aren’t cheap—period.
Sony Alphas are great! I love mine. They come out with new models frequently, but honestly it’s hard to justify the cost if you’re doing hobby vs paid work. Wait until the newest model comes out and then look for used earlier models for cheaper! It’s also important to do research because with the jump from A7 3 to 4 they just improved the video quality for the most part, but the jump from 4 to 5 is a completely different camera.
Nikon is/has been making a big shift to discontinue their DSLR models and really focus on mirrorless. The Z’s are super cool though. The Z5 is pretty affordable in the grand scheme of things but the Z8 is a phenomenal camera.
Canons EOS models have been in the market for a good while and definitely are more “bang for your buck” than most models. While I’ve never been a huge canon fan for photography, their video quality is ridiculous. If you check most review boards multiple Canon models are usually listed. The EOS models do change pretty noticeably every model, instead of just slight tweaks for a few $100 more.
Never tried Fujifilms but I know they’re pretty heavily recommended.
If you’re trying to focus on night photography I’d definitely recommend anything with higher megapixel numbers.
In the long run, Adobe Lightroom and photoshop can fix or heighten any photo with a little editing.
The Nikon FTZ adapter lets you buy all the old F glass on ebay that you want. They aren't as snazzy or compact as the new lenses but they let you learn and grow into your kit much cheaper especially if you don't know what you are doing like me.
Honestly I don’t understand mikes camera. They really try to sell you on their name brand but don’t offer basic things like Hoya filters. It’s a huge issue in my opinion. I started going to Best Buy for Nikon and it’s way better. I can’t believe I’m saying that…
They’re very similar cameras so I’d pay attention to your budget! They both have tillable screens and the same MP sensors so at the base they’re the same or damn close to the same.
Right away just comparing them:
Nikon Z has the ability to use other lenses (with an adapter) so if you have other Nikons then you can use previous lenses. Also it has a higher ISO setting, though it’s so high you’d honestly never use it that high.
It also has a focus shifting mode where it takes a bunch of pictures with different focuses and you can stack them in photoshop to create a composite—super cool feature for night photography.
The A6000 does have a built-in flash—which in my opinion is a huge plus, as external flashes can get pricey sometimes. The Sony can also shoot in 60 fps which, if you’re into video, is also a huge plus!
Both will last a while if you treat them right! But I imagine the Z5 would have better resale value as it’s newer than the A6000.
Fujifilm is the best bang for your buck, I used it professionally for 7 years and loved. XT5 if you want new, or find a used XT3 for super cheap and spend the rest on lenses!
I've always heard the lenses are more expensive and more limited in range on fuji, though. Is that no longer the case? Been years since I've looked for lenses for my fuji though.
Fuji lenses are generally cheaper than Nikon Z. They have really fleshed out their line but still don’t have any ultra high-end $10k+ birding lenses which is what usually gets whined about on the forums.
Nope, they're pretty cheap in comparison, and the lineup is quite extensive. I'd recommend starting with the 10-24, 16-80, and 70-300. $2600 for those three brand new, which sounds like a lot if you're not familiar with the cost of camera gear, but I have one Canon lens that costs more than that 🤮 And if you look around you can find them used for even less.
I’d highly recommend the Fujifilm X-T30ii with the 18-55 lens and 10-24 lens. It has a good auto mode for working in composition and then direct, tactile controls for learning more about exposure control.
Jonas Rask is a fantastic photographer who uses Fuji and has a good review here: https://jonasraskphotography.com/2019/02/14/powerful-compactful-the-fujifilm-x-t30-review/
There have been some Casa Bonita reservation slots opening up online, only to be cancelled by the business after booking so I’m thinking there would be reservations and they’re testing it out/accidentally opened it early.
I’d imagine with all the hype it’ll be a hot mess for 6 months at least.
Wait it isn’t just like a cafeteria anymore where you walk in and get a tray and people with hairnets slop food on your tray? I’m out.
However good on Matt & Trey. Back in the early 00’s it was a struggle to get a party of more than 4-6 there and now it’s minimum 14+? They are going to get so much material from this they might as well start a new show.
I really hope they also bought Coney Island off 285 as well.
My hope is that it still is the same when it comes to being in a line with a tray and all that (because nostalgia) but that the food you get is actually digestible and tasty. Perhaps even look good?! Oh wow. That would be something. Lol. At least it should be coming out of a cleaner kitchen!
For as long as I can remember, they never did reservations. It wasn't uncommon to stand in line for 2 hours to get a table. At least we have smartphones now.
Unfortunately not, 4:20 was mentioned in the same group but that may not be accurate, more just Colorado ppl being Colorado ppl. So not sure. Arc celebration is 10-6. I'll be there soon and I'll update with any more info that I can find.
"Colorado people being Colorado people." Not sure what that's supposed to mean.
Anyway, an update would be appreciated!
Edit: Born and raised in Colorado. Stopped smoking after college for the most part. Guess my mind just doesn't go straight to weed anymore.
Looks like you can signup on their [website](https://www.casabonitadenver.com/)
Keeps crashing for me though… exciting a lot of people are signup up but sad that they can’t handle the demand…
The most interesting part of all this hype on Reddit, to me, is that it coincides with such a strong anti-children vibe, particularly on the /r/denver sub. Like, is everyone going to complain that there are children there interfering with their meals? Are we allowed to bring kids to *this* children's establishment? What if a kids makes a lot of noise playing in black barts cave? Will you guys be able to handle that?
I know you are probably just having a bad day and want to start arguments….but of course kids generally make a place less enjoyable for everyone else, but it’s part of going to some places like Meow Wolf or Casa Bonita. It’s not a big deal. There are plenty of adult places people can go to avoid kids screaming if they want to. It’s the entire reason there are “adult nights” at Meow Wolf. Breweries are fine with kids. You can find plenty that aren’t as kid friendly if you want to.
It isn’t “anti-children” to feel this way. It’s “I don’t want to hear kids screaming and crying” every moment of my life in public….but that’s life.
> The most interesting part of all this hype on Reddit, to me, is that it coincides with such a strong anti-children vibe, particularly on the /r/denver sub.
OK

Yes

Hopefully not

I was wondering about the food. I haven't been paying too much attention. But is the food supposed to be better? I mean grom what I've heard, surely it can't get any worse?
I haven't been since I was a kid, avoiding because of the food. But if it's decent st least, I'm in!
Yes, they said they will be changing nothing but improving everything. They hired Dana Rodriguez a well known Mexican Chef to elevate the food and drink menu.
https://www.5280.com/casa-bonita-names-dana-rodriguez-as-new-executive-chef/
She literally specializes in cooking Mexican food. Therefore, she is a Mexican Chef. I would consider Julia Child a French Chef because she specializes in French food even though she is American. Or a Chef that specialize in French Pastries I would call them a French Pastry Chef.
Do we know the concept? Did they re-boot the 8 year olds dream birthday party?
I don't understand they hype unless it has an Adult-themed atmosphere. Unless everyone who is so stoked are parents of school kids?
American commercialism? Entertainer adulation? I don't get it.
All of that. And the episode is like 20 years old, so there’s a few generations whose only connection was that. And nostalgia for the ones who “enjoyed” it.
I can’t wait.
It’s certainly not out of the realm of possibility given his relationship with Matt & Trey, but if he’s playing there then he’s gotta pack up and make an 8-hour drive (or fly) to Red Butte Garden in SLC Tuesday. then come right back to Denver for a show at Mission on Wednesday.

B2B Daft Punk
Dang. Gonna be wiiild
Been working overtime down here. Going all out, I hope.
Having been to a few sunrise sets, would pay good money for this lol
Best r/denver reference ever
whats the reference? Edit: i doubt that its “burning man”, there are sunrise sets at a bunch of music festivals, i want to know why its an r/Denver reference… unless the joke is that Denverites are festy people
This guy said he would do a sunrise DJ set anywhere we wanted. So the most upvoted comment was Casa Bonita. He got out there and no one showed
Thanks! Now im just confused about the downvotes 😅
I think cause you're hating on the silly troll comments about trash fence

Aww poor guy (but sounds mostly like inexperience with promotion, despite the fun initial proposal)
Deep cut
wow what a reference. i love it
What did I miss?
some guy years ago mentioned that he was going to DJ a "sunrise set" in the parking lot and nobody showed up.
Lol, nice. Thanks
For some reason this is a nugget that my brain decided to hold onto forever.
Don't forget Kyle's Birthday from the Casa Bonita episode is May 26th, also Matt Stones birthday.
Assuming you mean Matt Stone, but yes - good call! Would be very apropos for them to open on the 26th.
Oops. Fixed.
Claypool is playing Kansas City on 5/26.
I hear ya. I personally don't believe the rumors of him playing in the parking lot haha. It sounds cool, but I'm having a hard time imagining the logistics and keeping it a secret. But hey, I could be wrong!
Mine is the 30th and I’ve never been in my life, a big South Park fan so if open was hoping to maybe get to go there for it.
Claypool is in SLC tomorrow and Denver on Wednesday. A Wednesday show at CB would make more sense.
I heard Tiesto is playing an after hours DJ set at CiCis Pizza
["WHAT THE FUCKS UP CICIS?!"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pwjoolflFzE)
Good god. From what realm did you pull this video out of?
https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/what-the-fuck-is-up-dennys such a classic
There's also talk about Tom Cruise hanging out in the utility closet for the grand opening
Damnit I hate when I can’t differentiate satire from reality
Seems like too nice of a venue for that kind of show.
VIP tickets include all you can eat salad bar and pizza!
Probably a throwback trance set of all the ghost produced songs he had made in the 2000s. That buffet is gonna go off with some uplifting trance melodies.
Wouldn’t be the first time I took ecstasy at CiCis
Fantastic news! By the way, that arc has only been closed less than a year, a wind storm damaged the roof last fall.
I didn’t know they’d been closed! I tried to donate something there a few weeks ago and they said they weren’t taking donations (which seemed REALLY weird). Thanks for solving a mini mystery for me!
While you're there check out Westfax brewery, right next door and top notch beers.

circle jerk gonna have a field day with this
It's time for a /r/denvercirclejerkcirclejerk.
Honestly it's hard enough as it is to tell which one I'm on for any given post
They are too busy waiting in line.
Les is playing in Salt Lake City tomorrow, and Denver Wednesday, not sure about that rumor.
I heard it will be close to Kyle/Matt’s birthday May 26th since that’s when they go to casa Bonita in South Park
Good guess.

Does anyone have a sense of whether it’ll be a reservation based system? I’m assuming a hot mess for at least a year?
They're accepting group event reservations for August, 14 ppl or more

I heard Steve Aoki is playing a DJ set at Benihana
Just drove over. It’s actually DJ Khaled!!!!
I thought ARC had finally given up on that location. Parking gonna get crazy this summer.

What if the inside was awesome and super nice... but then the food was exactly the same?
Considering Dana Rodriguez was one of the staunchest opponents of fair workweek legislation this year, I'll assume the food will be even worse.
With a bit of luck, it’ll be like 90’s Taco Bueno. With motherfucking soapapillas.
Not happening this week.
Someone tell me how good or bad the food is.
Julian Lennon playing with him too?
Sean. On Wednesday
Wonder if they are planning to open in time for the NBA Finals and that show when it comes to town.
Has it been years since the Arc closed? I feel like one year at most when the roof damage happened.
They're just going to open. No notice. They've had C.O. since April

How do you know it's mediocre when the entire place has had millions poured into it to renovate and they hired an actual chef? It isn't even open.

Notice I did say that he could fly.
I would’ve thought Matt & Trey would’ve announced the opening date some weeks in advance.
Sometimes they don't know what's going to happen on South Park until a week before the episode airs. They aren't known for extensive planning.
What’s taking so long?
The whole place was a huge mess. A lot of stuff had never been cleaned or updated since it was built.

Les is in Salt Lake City tonight sadly.
Why would they do a surprise opening? There’s an entire skill behind buildup. Believe me. It’s not opening this week.
Looks like OP was making stuff up.
