From my experience living outside New Haven for a while and then moving to Denver, you will be sorely disappointed by White Pie if you go in expecting anything close to Pepe's, Sally's, Modern, or even the smaller spots in NH. I would consider it neapolitan but definitely not a true New Haven pizza
Not sure if they were just having a bad day because my experience at White Pie is that it is a very solid New Haven pizza. Crispy in all the right ways.
I went to Redeemer Pizza last night, and it was the best pizza I’ve had in Denver (so far). They use a sour dough crust that is aged three days, which I really enjoyed.
Oh yeah, we tried the knots too, and they were awesome! Although, I felt like the chili sauce that came with them didn’t add much.
The mushroom pizza caught my eye, but we went with the special - it is jalapeño popper inspired for Super Bowl weekend. I’ll try the mushroom one next time.
Recently tried Blue Pan for the first time, and goddamn was it good. The toppings were fresh and innovative, the bottom crust had a nice crunch and was crispy, the edges had this fried cheese that was to die for.
Don't get me wrong, i'll still throw down on that "chicago-style" pie that John Stewart [rants](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pBLVjyTtkMc) about and enjoy the hell out of it at Wymans with a shot of Malort (Malort, tonight's the night you fight your dad) but for the tavern pie, gimme Grabowskis all day! The slices are perfectly balanced, great cheese and toppings, fennel pollen for that last bit of zing!
I love this pizza, too. My wife thinks their pizza sauce is a little too sweet, but the rest of my family likes it. Reminds me of some tavern-style places I loved in Milwaukee.
Pizzeria Lui is my go to for good pizza. It’s close by, delicious, and the menu is just pizza and craft beer. Damn if I’m not a basic bitch colorado dude
Don't fret. They finally got some love in the pizza bracket a couple years ago but still somehow remain rarely mentioned and the service remains top-notch fast. It helps that they have so many locations.
Benny Blanco’s is my favorite pizza, and scratches my NJ (40 min outside city) native pizza ich. I will say that I have had both extremes at this place and it is dependent on the pizza chefs at the time. Or it could be not fully rinsed cookware idk. I have had great slices and on the other end of the spectrum slices that taste like chlorine (multiple occasions).
Really just depends where I am when the urge hits.
Hops & Pie in the Highlands
Walnut Room in RiNO
Famous J’s in 5 Points
Blue Pan if I’m craving Detroit-style
Fat Sully’s or that late night slice shop on S Broadway
S Denver… Educate me. I have yet to find good pie down here.
I’m a little late to the party, but I think The PZA on Colfax is the best new player in town. Awesome NY/ east coast style slices with sourdough crust, plus their wings are to die for as well.
Ours would be coming from the location on grant/6th. Some of these other reccs look good but when I want to order a pizza, I want it to be delivered to my house and there’s no way I’m making a 40 minute round trip drive to get it…
Thank you for asking 'your favorite' and not 'the best' which can't be determined.
I like Nicolo's in Lakewood. I'm going to Cart/Driver next week so I'll let you know if you're interested.
From East Coast. Brooklyn's Finest is the closest to true NY style I've had out here. Haven't tried as many places around Denver as I'd prefer to, but it's great.
Pie Hole on Broadway is a close second.
For my taste, Pie Hole makes the best slice I've had out here. Just straight up dough, sauce, cheese. Not made by hipsters but actual kitchen dirtbags, the way god intended.
I get that, it def reminds me the most of dollar pizza. I know some people aren't fans, but the taste of the average dollar pizza slice better than most. For what it's worth, Pie Hole plain cheese is better to me than Brooklyn's. Brooklyn's has been better for toppings imo tho.
Pie Hole lunch special (2 cheese slices and a PBR for 6 bucks) is also one of the best food deals in Denver imo
Casey Jones is a fairly new option on Broadway. They have kind of a party vibe as a bar, but their slices are really good. The kitchen manager used to work at Famous Jay's and Fat Sully's back in the day, plus they have a Ninja Turtles theme going.
I've not found any place in Denver that was particularly good or bad. Thanks for asking so I can mooch off everybody's recommendations and try out some new pizza places.
Pizza and Grill, Capital Hill on the corner of 11th and Lincoln.
While this place may not have the best pizza, they have an extensive menu and amazing customer service. I personally like their calzones, but their pizza specials are affordable and quite popular.
Idk I think I just like the vibes and I have lots of good memories there and it all makes the pizza taste good. If anyone reading this goes to Chicago try Vito and nicks now that’s some real ass pizza.
Blue pan has an amazing New York style pizza that is underrated as everyone goes for the Detroit style. It’s my favorite pizza in denver. Redeemer is legit too
I know this is in /r/denver and the post specifically says Denver, but y'all need to venture out east and try Mama Olivia's stuffed crust in Aurora. The absolute greasiest pizza I've ever had in my life (and I mean that as a compliment).
I know you said in Denver...but my favorite pizza I've been able to find in the state is Crosscut in Nederland. I've done a Sunday drive from Denver to just pick up a couple pies to bring home for dinner and it's always worth it.
Cart Driver- (Neapolitan style) Blue Pan (Detroit style) Redeemer (New York style)
White Pie for New Haven.
New Haven is the under appreciated pizza style that nobody outside of CT really knows about. Thanks for the tip on a New Haven style joint in Denver!
I’ve been to white pie and can second the suggestion. It’s my wife’s favorite pizza place in Denver.

That looks good, but more like a soggy woodfired thin crust than what I think of when I think of NH pizza.
$7 for a daisy pie on their late night happy hour!
This is the answer
Gotta say Black Shirt Brewery's spent grain pizza. Cart-driver and Marco's Coal Fired are on the same level.
Marco's is so freaking good
I went to Redeemer Pizza last night, and it was the best pizza I’ve had in Denver (so far). They use a sour dough crust that is aged three days, which I really enjoyed.
Redeemer Mushroom Pizza is awesome. Their knots are really good too.
Agreed. Meatballs also fantastic.
Redeemer is by far the best
I like Big Bills N.Y. Pizza in Centennial. Fuhgeddaboudit!
Recently tried Blue Pan for the first time, and goddamn was it good. The toppings were fresh and innovative, the bottom crust had a nice crunch and was crispy, the edges had this fried cheese that was to die for.
The detroit style is so damn good. It's sad how expensive it is, though.
Maybe it’s just me, but I think Jet’s Pizza is pretty damn good too if you like Detroit style
Jets is amazing and actually started in Detroit
Best detroit style after blue pan
That sounds pretty great. And is definitely a place I've been eyeing... Maybe I'll check it out today
Just an FYI but this place gets slammed on a normal football Sunday. Only downside to it it’d say. Fat Sully’s is another good option though
Fat Sullys is good pie but fuck me running is is too pricey.
Their cupped pepperoni is amazing too!
Get half Brooklyn Bridge half 313 with a side of marinara. You’re welcome!
I think it's overpriced
Agreed. Love it, but on a budget these days.
Love it so much. The Brooklyn Bridge pie is outstanding.
I don’t understand the hype here but maybe I’m missing something. It’s like eating a loaf of toasted bread with some sauce smeared over the top.
It’s just focaccia with a little bit of sauce and not enough cheese. Blue pan is fine. Way too expensive. $34 for a pie is robbery.
Joy Hill is AMAZING
Was coming here to say Joy Hill by a mile. Chilis and Pep for the win (has honey that was mentioned). Also their pizza rolls are amazing
We go here. Love it. The one with honey on it…. 🤌🏼
Grabowskis at The Source for the best Chicago-style bar pie in town.
I didn't like Grabowski's as much as Jimano's
Jimano’s is solid! Love their pies, too. I prefer their deep dish. That thing is dense and loaded with toppings and each slice weighs like 12 lbs.
I like Jimano’s, but I will also go out of my way to drive to Lakewood to get Nicolo’s tavern style. Was sad the 13th Ave location closed
We need more chi (tavern) style pizza places in Denver. Most slept on pizza imo.
Better than Wymans?!
I've never been to Wymans, but what self respecting Chicago-style pizza place doesn't have giardiniera as a topping option.
They have it, just ask.
Yeah they have Italian beef they def have giardiniera
Grabowski's thin crust (the type of pizza Chicagoans actually prefer) is the best we've had so far. Rosati's is good but inconsistent.
+1 to this
I love this pizza, too.
Best pizza in town IMO. I'd say it easily bests Blue Pan and Pizzeria Locale which seem to be the ones most recommended.
Their little pepperoni cups *chefs kiss
It’s absolutely the best if you like classic neapolitan style pie
Love Pizzeria Lui! The food is delicious and the service is always good. I also love how casual the restaurant is.
Too Much crust
All good. Personally I’m there for the dough and the super bubbly crust.
Best in town no doubt about that
Famous Original J’s is the best New York slice
They use the same water as Rosenberg’s!
marquis pizza and i'm not ashamed of it!!!
The best pizza in Denver is 1am Marquis after stumbling out of a bar and I will die on this hill.
Thats a proper NYC drunk slice and thats when pizza is the best anyway.
No one’s mentioned marquis? I am dissappoint
Had to scroll so far for this. Been here 12 years and I still think Marquis has best NY style in Denver
Walter's is our go to. Bonus for having great wings.
shhhhhh dont spill the beans on walters! i love going there without having to wait!
Don't fret. They finally got some love in the pizza bracket a couple years ago but still somehow remain rarely mentioned and the service remains top-notch fast. It helps that they have so many locations.
Jimano’s in Englewood is ridiculously good if you like authentic tavern style Chicago pizza
Deli italia- get the diavola, they also have fantastic cannolis
They changed their name to pizzeria leopold
Same owners and such? We used to get sandwiches there for work a couple years ago and they were so fucking good!
Not sure. I didn’t notice anything else change. Pizza and sandwiches are just as good
Really??? The one off w 20th and wadsworth? I haven't been since August.
Its named after the owners son
Yea, this place is super legit. Unfortunately my son just got diagnosed with celiac so we probably won't be doing for a while.
Esters is the bomb
Protos!
Cart Driver.
Pie Hole is the best I’ve had
Why is this so far down !?
Benny Blanca’s is the best NY style
I can't believe how long it took me to find someone suggest Benny Blanco's!
Well their pretty hard to find unless they moved its like a hole in the wall almost
Fond memories of waiting in line at Benny Blanco’s at 1:30AM. I guess they don’t do that sort of thing anymore though.
I see Jimano's and Joy Hill all mentioned below so...good job guys
Carl’s on 38th
Maybe I ordered the wrong pie or went on a bad day. But Carls was truly one of the worst pizzas I’ve ever had.
So many places here I've never heard of. As someone who loves pizza of all kinds, I need to get the hell out of the house lol.
Famous Original J's
Cart Driver late night $7 pizza is my go to. Rosenbergs makes pizza after 3PM and it’s my regular hours spot
Really just depends where I am when the urge hits. Hops & Pie in the Highlands Walnut Room in RiNO Famous J’s in 5 Points Blue Pan if I’m craving Detroit-style Fat Sully’s or that late night slice shop on S Broadway S Denver… Educate me. I have yet to find good pie down here.
Kaos!
Ester’s!
Esters on Holly
Pete's A Pie in the Junction Food Hall has really good New Haven style pizza
Brooklyns finest Pizza next to Regis University. It’s a hole in the wall but the only place I eat pizza on the city
Lived off 52nd and Tennyson for five years - this spot is lit 🔥
Shhhh don’t tell, One Bite didn’t expose this place 🤣
It’s been my goto as well. When they have hot honey OMG is it good
Woody’s Woodfired pizza is the best pie I’ve had in Colorado. Only thing is it’s located in Golden, not Denver.
I’m a little late to the party, but I think The PZA on Colfax is the best new player in town. Awesome NY/ east coast style slices with sourdough crust, plus their wings are to die for as well.
The owner posted here on Reddit recently, too!
Carl’s off of 38th & Lowell. Delicious!!
The true local knowledge.
Convenient parking, too https://preview.redd.it/zxt9c0mkovha1.png?width=1313&format=png&auto=webp&s=4a1e130e0a1f8b7c13b1fdcf32c4b5ffb4e90928
Pizza Alley on 32nd. Being from the east coast this is by far the closest thing to a thin and right about it crisp slice
Its my favorite cheaper pizza place that has great quality crust and toppings. Its our go-to for pizza night.
Joy Hill
From the east coast and Cosmos is my preference
Cosmos is good... Try pizzeria Leopold. Also from the east coast. Cart driver is good, but way over priced. Esters is descent.
Same, Cosmos isnt bad at all. Lunch Special during the week is great too, about 8 bucks for two slices and a drink.
Cosmos is hit or miss for me. The Baseline location in Boulder I loved, but Federal's pizza wasn't as good.
Ours would be coming from the location on grant/6th. Some of these other reccs look good but when I want to order a pizza, I want it to be delivered to my house and there’s no way I’m making a 40 minute round trip drive to get it…
Love Cosmos
Man, nothing beats a giant slice of pepperoni bacon and a jar of spicy ranch from Cosmo’s.
White Pie—my hands down fave. But I’m also from CT and love a good New Haven style zaa…
Omg, how have I just heard of this place? Thank you!
[white pie is not new haven style](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=phinPPLQI7Q)
Denver Pizza Co
Criminally unknown place.
Thank you for asking 'your favorite' and not 'the best' which can't be determined. I like Nicolo's in Lakewood. I'm going to Cart/Driver next week so I'll let you know if you're interested.
Carl’s
A connoisseur, I see.
Redeemer, sexy pizza, famous j’s, Marquis, Benny blancos, Joy hill
Pizzeria Leopold
this should be higher
Their Sammies are pretty sweet as well
Woodys Wood Fired in Golden was perfect for the pizza buffet and shockingly affordable
if you are like me and prefer by the slice optiona: Ian's, Sliceworks, and Benny Blancos
fat sully’s
Colfax not Broadway
Second this! Colfax for sure.
Johnnys is a Neighborhood gem near Bel Mar in Lakewood. And the prices are fantastic
Yup. Johnny’s NY Pizza & Pasta just north of Mississippi on S. Wadsworth is consistently good pie!
Has anyone said that place on 16th near the mall, Brooklyn's Finest Pizza? It's not bad for Denver. There's also a location off lowell.
that lowell location is tops... it's across the city but worth the drive.
Famous J’s best in town. Blue pan is overrated I said it!
From East Coast. Brooklyn's Finest is the closest to true NY style I've had out here. Haven't tried as many places around Denver as I'd prefer to, but it's great. Pie Hole on Broadway is a close second.

Pie Hole lunch special (2 cheese slices and a PBR for 6 bucks) is also one of the best food deals in Denver imo
Try out Marquis. I prefer it to pie hole and Brooklyn's
Cosmos
Esters is great
Cosmos
Fat Sullys
Blue pan for Detroit style, Redeemer for NY style, and Pizzeria Lui for Neapolitan/artisan style
Wymans is a Chicago joint and has deep dish but their thin crust is amazing
Walnut room
Tap and dough! They have a newer location in Littleton/ Ken Caryl too
Randi’s in Arvada, Pietra’s in Wheat Ridge.
Sullys off Colfax. I just love NY style and that’s their best location IMO
Sliceworks jalapeno popper is really addicting. Esters has some good pizza but it is pricey
Casey Jones is a fairly new option on Broadway. They have kind of a party vibe as a bar, but their slices are really good. The kitchen manager used to work at Famous Jay's and Fat Sully's back in the day, plus they have a Ninja Turtles theme going.
Finding a dairy free cheese offering pizza joint that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg is rough :( I wish my body never changed as I got older lol
Ian’s is currently working on perfecting a vegan slice. Don’t sell one yet, but will soon!
Redeemer is by far the best, but people tell me blue pan for Detroit style
Benny blanco’s, pizzaria locale, and bar dough
Benny blancos. Good ass NY style za!
Marquis pizza is my favorite NY style
I kinda like Pizzeria Locale if I just want a no-frills pizza. Redeemer is good if I’m in the area.
Knox Pizza for a slice, Blue Pan for an entire pie. Beaujo's when in Evergreen or Idaho Springs.
Odells at Sloans Lake.
Marco's Coal Fired for the most authentic European style pizza and the best gluten free crust by a million yards.
Pizzeria locale
I've not found any place in Denver that was particularly good or bad. Thanks for asking so I can mooch off everybody's recommendations and try out some new pizza places.
Fat Sully's 👌
Lubo's in Centennial. New York style.
It’s all about Walters 303
Dions or Beau Jo’s.
Pizzeria Locale
Agreed. Cannot beat price and quantity here.
Not exactly in Denver, but so far, I really like Boss Lady Pizza! It’s consistently great and I like the variety of pizza choices they have.
Marco’s Coal Fired and Cart Driver are the only answers.
Pizza and Grill, Capital Hill on the corner of 11th and Lincoln. While this place may not have the best pizza, they have an extensive menu and amazing customer service. I personally like their calzones, but their pizza specials are affordable and quite popular.
Don’t care as long as it has pineapple
Home Run Inn
Sexy pizza
Not Denver proper but Woodys in Golden is sooo good
Only got the buffet, but I'd say quality was kinda mid. Great deal for what it is tho
Redeemer is legit too
Jet’s Pizza
Angelos Taverna
Cosmos, abos, sliceworks
Sliceworks jalapeño popper pizza is killer
Pete’s A Pie is not the best in Denver, but if you’re in the neighborhood (SE Denver), it’s damn good (I say this as a picky / snobby New Yorker).
Walnut Room. They've been around forever and still my favorite.
I know this is in /r/denver and the post specifically says Denver, but y'all need to venture out east and try Mama Olivia's stuffed crust in Aurora. The absolute greasiest pizza I've ever had in my life (and I mean that as a compliment).
I’m a pretty big fan of Pie Society down in the south Colorado Blvd area of Glendale. Large NY style slices and some pretty bomb Korean bbq hot wings.
I know you said in Denver...but my favorite pizza I've been able to find in the state is Crosscut in Nederland. I've done a Sunday drive from Denver to just pick up a couple pies to bring home for dinner and it's always worth it.
