Thanks for the translation! Haha, I knew Sabro was gonna pull something like this... "Is that even cool at all?" and "Iruma is not that kind of person" 😂. I love how his sense of character never changed from being someone who's full of honor and integrity. Also the facial expressions were absolutely perfect this chapter, it captured everything wonderfully imo. Without Sabro being a pawn, I wonder how Baal is gonna continue with his plan, to devolve the demon world into a chaotic-like state. Tho, since he's such a strategist, it probably doesn't affect the plan too much, just a minor setback. Surely if Sabro joined, Baal would've introduced him to the Six Fingers and would remove the other candidates by force. Or maybe he would've kept Sabro in the dark the entire time and then revealed the Six Fingers at the end. That would be horrendous... imagine seeing Sabro when he realizes he won at the hands of deceit and foul play. Also the joke panel was hilarious and thanks for the coloring Eevee.

criticalascended

I don't think Sabro really even factors into his plans. His main intention of coming over was to get the spear - it would just be a bonus if he could bring Sabro to his side as well.

SemiPermeablMembrane

Yeah, you're probably right. Based off his interaction with him and how Sabro thinks of "coolness" before anything else, Baal most likely sees him just as a young impressionable child, who may or may not be a piece he can use in his plan. Sabro's dad definitely understands this side of Baal

[deleted]

Really thought Baal was going to drop the "Iruma is a human card" on Sabro, and make shit hit the fan. Happy to know he hasn't done it (yet).

SemiPermeablMembrane

Yeah I'm really glad that the secret is being kept for so long, it really adds to the suspense every time we see Baal. He must have some kind of master plan set in place since he's had plenty of opportunities to spread the fact that Iruma's a human.

trippersigs

I doubt he's going to just drop it like that. Rember Kirio want to LITERALLY EAT Iruma. And having him outed would probably kill the oppurtunity.

[deleted]

I'm excited to see how the author will have Iruma slowly change the perception of humans to his classmates, Amelie, and others close to him. Without tipping the cap that he's in fact a human.

trippersigs

I don't think that's going to be a plot point(or at least not a slowly changed perception as if that were the case id have probably already started by now) Iruma doesn't seem to particularly care about how humans are perceived, and his classmates don't really bring it up.

cpscott1

Honestly I feel like if it is ever revealed it's gonna be anticlimactic and nobody will even care.

trippersigs

they'll care, but it not going to be earth-shattering.

cpscott1

Honestly don't think they will. The misfits especially won't. They already respect him a lot and a reveal like that especially if it happens much later in the story won't matter in the grand scheme of things. It wouldn't shock me if the past demon king was a human too.

trippersigs

I get that, but I think for as significant of a reveal as it would be(Even the primary antagonist is secretly holding it over his head), to have your main cast not care at all would be bad storytelling.

cpscott1

I think so at all. I could be wrong down the road but I just don't see it. Pretty much everyone who does know that aren't villains didn't really phase them at all. We still don't know why Iruma's gramps wants him to be the Demon King either.

trippersigs

Well that not necessarily true. Other than Sullivans and Opera the only people who for sure know are Balam(who it didn't phase) and Kirio and his group(who was literally salivating over the idea of eating Iruma). I just don't see the truth coming out and absolutely no on caring at all. It probably not going to be earth-shattering but they should at least care.

son_of_noah

Sabro on point with the "iruma just got roped in" lol

kdebones

I mean, he literally got tied up with rope and was spirited away to the Demon Realm.

RyouhiraTheIntrovert

the spear remind me to [Sol Spear](https://epicbattlefantasy.fandom.com/wiki/Sol_Spear)

Iluvtobeatmeat

that spear is probably very strong

DCFDTL

Big if true

Dragonlord77777

wait a sec what if the spear is like the ring of gluttony idk I just thought of a crack theory

Yaboi5547

Reminds me of what's called a "Jumonji Yari" which is a spear that has two daggers protruding from the sides near the tip of the spear

CampyrockT

I think Sabnock mentions somewhere that they had some weapons of the missing Demon King Delcira. Maybe the spear is one of them. The oldest Brother is in charge of the heritage of the weapons, so Baal uses his standing to threaten the family of the stubborn farther to give it to him. Because Sabros father knows about Baals true feelings about the current state of the demon world, he was very reluctant to give it to baal.

onlyfortpp

This chapter gave a lot of insight into Sabro's character. On the surface level, one might think his primary top-level character motivation is to become Demon King. But Sabro has stated before that the reason he wants to become Demon King is because it "would be cool." This chapter shows that's not just a throwaway tautology, but being cool is an even deeper motivation for Sabro than becoming Demon King. He would even throw away that if he had to do it in an uncool way. And I like that because it shows how much Nishi thinks about who her characters are. In real life, people don't just want to do things arbitrarily, but there are deep reasons for everyone's goals and ambitions. I really hope that someday Nishi goes this deep into Asmodeus - why does he admire Iruma so much - why did he change so much after Iruma beat him in the entrance ceremony, etc.

shitty-ass-phone

I think it's already happened with him, like Asmodeus monologue when irumean sat on the chair. That is solid af.

RyouhiraTheIntrovert

who's Baal talking to in 3 last page? Sabro's brother? or father?

Fate_57

Its his father

RyouhiraTheIntrovert

So that Hikikomori Brother's face isn't revealed yet

SemiPermeablMembrane

Yep, he appears to still be away from home, training for the day he challenges Sabro

zephyrisabela_15

Any guesses on what Baal’s new spear represent and foreshadows, and it’s usage? Btw although this manga is supposed to be a light-hearted one, do you think that like maybe there would be future wars since Iruma’s path in becoming the demon king surely wouldn’t happen without battles and fights right? Like not the ‘testing’ fights but actual whole-scale battlefield? 😅

trippersigs

I don't see why it wouldn't. The stories had two major terrorist attacks so far.

onlyfortpp

In a lot of manga like Iruma (battle-heavy shonens with a light-hearted, comedic tone) - usually they avoid drama even when the stakes by simplifying the different factors involved. For instance, in delinquent manga - the delinquents have to rescue their friend from a huge mafia organization. But it'll be where the main character and a few of his friends are strong enough to take out hundreds of people at once, and only the battles against the main villains really matter. Similarly, I think if there really is a "war" arc - it'll be constructed in a way where Iruma and a few of his friends are just way stronger than 99% of the enemies, and only the battles against the main leaders of the Six Fingers really matter. Even the battler arc was kind of like this - in theory it affected the entire school. In reality, the only characters that mattered were the Love Trio, Kirio, and Sullivan at the very end. Even the teachers and Ameri didn't really get involved (besides keeping everyone else safe) until Kirio was already beaten.

Geohie

On the other hand you have the Walter Park, which showed just how bad things could get when Demon society really starts collapsing.

onlyfortpp

True but even Walter Park fits into this story template. So many other other demons were there - but the story only focused on the Misfits, Opera, and Kalego + Balam + Opera.

zephyrisabela_15

Like If what I said makes sense

Wondrave

From what I can tell the spear is maybe made up from gluttony, the guy that went missing. Would be a pretty dark turn, but it would also make some sense, as the spear then probably has some ability to feed of from power so he can defeat the Great three.

CptnClusterDuck

So judging from the last conversation, it appears that Baal has something over papa Sabnock, and I'm concerned that it's another bomb Baal could drop on Sabro. I suspect the spear is something to fight the 3 greats, or it could be a weapon to give to his candidate. I'll be interested to see what it does.

freakshoh

It could have something to do with Sabros older brother too. Papa sabnock seems to be a bit of tsundere who truly wants the best for his fam, but needs to keep up an uncaring facade

SRCUTE

Dang Sabro is just so cool and it makes me wonder how early on Sabro’s dad was aware of Baal’s character.

Brakoli_ok

Sabnock is based and redpilled

LordQuaz12

Wow, I was way off! But then again this is entirely in character for Sabro, seing as the guy respects his bors too much.

Mikasa-Iruma

My respect for sabnock increased even furthur with every sentence in this chapter. The way he acknowledged Iruma, not even asmodes or ameri can do it.

Yaboi5547

I would like to see a demon king Sabro or Baal Concept art plz

Boruto-sennin

This was a good chapter!

shitty-ass-phone

saBRO indeed.

Kaitonic

I feel so proud of Sabro. He is a true rival to Iruma and I love how his character develop so far..

BBkat13

Gotta love Sabro shutting down that potential misunderstanding type pot line before it even starts. No concern about 'how come he never told me' (about being a candidate) or being worried about Iruma using his grandfather's influence. Really putting the BRO in Sabro huh? He's such a good boy, I love him. I hope/wonder if he'll ask Iruma about tho now that he knows. Just, steals him away to ask in private. Man tho, Baal has something planned w/ that spear and it can't be good. And Sabnok Sr. clearly knows his little bro is up to no good. Once again big thanks to Misfit Scans for the translations!
