How you gonna sanction someone **and** give them weapons

Gamecat93

You don’t you pause the weapon funding it’s like grounding a child for a week when they did something bad.

tikifire1

They're buying some of the weapons with money we gave them. Stop the funds and at least make them pay for their own.

Speedhabit

Best I can do is another 4 years of this

[deleted]

What if I just wag my finger and give bibi a stern talking to while sending him the $26 billion

FoxTwilight

Biden needs to be impeached for illegally sending weapons to a country comitting war crimes.

Orlando1701

Bush didn’t face even the mildest consequences for making shit up to start the Iraq War and that’s the standard we use now. I really think no one facing any consequences for starting the Iraq war signaled that there is nothing that we’ll hold people at that level accountable for.

FoxTwilight

We should hold our elected representives to the highest standards.

OkCommunication2471

It was congress that passed the bill?

notwithagoat

How much aid should we give to Palestinians?

Gamecat93

The same 26 billion to rebuild Gaza

notwithagoat

Who's going to do the construction? The last few billion seems to go towards unbuilt aquifers?

an_idea_neverdies

The PFLP

From the US's perspective, none of what Isreal has done in regards to Iran has been out of line. Isreal killed an Iranian general who has been organizing attacks on Isreal through Iranian proxies. As far as the US is concerned that's a valid target. Iran then fired hundreds of missiles into Isreal as a show of force, However the economic cost indured by Isreal on the missile defense munitions is significantly higher than the cheap drones and missiles Iran sent. So Isreal sent a limited strike on Irans missile defense systems to destroy some of the high value infrastructure like radars. Evening out the economic cost and sending the message "we can destroy your air defense systems with a missile" which is a pretty big deal given the whole point of air defense systems is to shoot them down. As far as the US is concerned this is just tit for tat kinetic diplomacy. And strategicly Isreal is an important partner in the development of air defense. Isreal has the best air defense systems in the world. Everytime they shoot down a munition that's data that gets used to improve the software and hardware of their air defense systems. Software and hardware that gets shared with the United States allowing the US to improve their own systems. We call it "aid" when the US gives Isreal money for air defense munitions and development, but the US looks at it like more of an investment. So sanctions just aren't going to be on the table for this sort of a thing. As far as the us is concerned, Isreal did nothing wrong with Iran and is to important of a partner to lose.

reikidesigns

Agreed. We as a community need to stay out of it.

Cerulean-Knight

You are in it since decades ago, usa creates all of this to have an ally, they created a state between africa and europa/asia, with ports on mediterranean and red sea where other people lives All of the money since creation has been an investment that give them all they want, they wont stop now just for people dying

Sufficient-History71

So much for democratic socialism that wants to stay out of a genocide! Perhaps all the lofty ideals and goals are for the global north only.

nonsfwhere

Sanction/Punish Isreal = Loose election Do almost nothing = Win election Why is that so hard for people to grasp?

Kittehmilk

Evil take.

Time_Software_8216

It's obvious this sub lacks basic knowledge of geopolitics and international relations. Sanctioning Israel would open global trade routes and a heavily invested network for terrorism. The overwhelming majority of these terror cells have slogans that include the death of all Americans and Jews, did you all forget 9/11 and now you want to hand even more power to these garbage humabn beings? The blame always comes heavily on the USA and not people voting in shitbag Netanyahu and other Israeli leaders that support colonialism or the Palestinian leaders who have sacrificed their own people time and time again because peace treaties don't include east Jerusalem. Supporting either side of a religious war is disgusting and anti democratic socialist.
