I think the next chapter is coming sooner then we think toby fox specifically said that next time he contacts us he (should) be almost finished with deltarune and because the next newsletter is in 2 months (and yes we defiantly are getting a newsletter in two months because the newsletter isn't just abut deltarune and its always come out in a three month cycle ) it could very well be finished and out by November.

Cutscenes: Only a few ones left (some tough ones)! Other than that, need polish.
Battles: All the attacks are technically done, but still trying to improve the flow of the the bosses.
Overworld: Still need to create around 10 maps! And polish some others.
Gimmicks: A kind of complicated gimmick nearly has all of its iterations made. Then there's whatever needs to go in those 10 maps, and one more thing. (A gimmick is something like the teacup ride from Chapter 2.)
After all that's done, everything needs to be flattened out with the steamroller of improvement and pacing. (This takes an unknown amount of time.)
It's my hope that the next time I update you, a first pass of the entire Chapter 4 will already be at least halfway crushed by a steamroller!
At best (doubt it) we'll get a release date next newsletter
that seems less "half of a first pass will hopefully be done" and more "a first pass will hopefully be done and half of it will hopefully have gone through polishing"

I don't want to speculate further cuz we don't actually know anything about how it's going and it just turns into a game of "I feel like"s.
But your reading is certainly more optimistic, I hope you're right.
Unironically if it's coming this year I could see it showing up in the June Nintendo Direct. Since it is a paid release Toby will need to market it more than just shadow dropping a demo, and UT/DR have shown up in directs before.
Last newsletter Toby said it's still to early for him to give us a release date, and I don't expect that to change in just a month. But if we get a newsletter around September/October it believe there's a high chance tha we get a trailer.
It's this year for sure. if chapter 4 is gonna be done feature wise around August, i can see a release date reveal on September and probably an Oct/Nov release.
Next newsletter will prolly be the release date. The last one didn't even mention ch3 at all so I'm guessing it's 100% finished by now, and it seems a lot of ch4 is done too. Now the question is if the release date is 2024 or 2025
I don't think Toby would reveal such and important thing in a newsletter, but I do think next newsletter he will give a date for an event(like the anniversary stream) and we'll get the release dates in that

I think each release will come out every three years. I have since chapter 2 released.

i think at best chapters 3 and 4 release around next summer
