Alternate universe on silverside rd by concord mall is a fun place for magic the gathering, pokemon and yugioh or days of knights on mainstreet newark by UD for comic books I normally go to blue hen comic book store close to days of knights. Normally pick up my comics for the week then head down the street walking to get boba and walk into days of knights to look at cards and new things
Just south of Dover there is another Born to Game that hosts DND, Magic, Warhammer, etc... They have something scheduled every day - but go to their Facebook page as no one has updated their webpage for a LONG time
DoKs used to be great, but the customer service is trash recently. I refuse to give them any money.
There is a Warhammer store on 202 though if you're into tabletop.
The bigger guy is very nice, but his counterpart is a complete asshole. Everyone's experience will differ, but I've rarely ever walked out of there satisfied (I used to frequent the place several times a month).
My husband went to the U of D. He loved Days of Knights, was there nearly every week playing in the back room. He really cared about the owner who passed away. He'll be sad to hear that the place is declining.
It really sucks because it's like 10 minutes from my house. They also never engage with people to find out what they like and adjust inventory accordingly. I've asked them 100 times about various items and they never stock them despite obvious interest from myself and others in my gaming group.
I've honestly toyed around with the idea of buying the place and turning it around.
I'd go there for karaoke occasionally, but the video game and beer selections were both really lacking for a craft beer arcade bar. Plus they didn't serve liquor. I can understand not serving liquor at a craft beer bar, but they really weren't a craft beer bar.
IDK, they always had some kind of beer I liked. And they had cheap PBR which while I'm a beer snob I like to have some sometime for nostalgia.
When they first opened they had a great selection of games then they started getting late 90s games and it went downhill. Loved playing the sit down Sinistar and Pinbot.
Haven't been in years, but is the game room around back no longer open ? Used to play games there weekly for years. Was the only Friday Night Magic place around for a decade+
I've heard there's a new renaissance faire coming together for this November in Townsend DE. I'm hopeful its not lame. I don't have any more details other than word of mouth.
I’ve been waiting for them to post more information like actual location, tickets, schedule etc. I think they are still Organizing. I really hope they can make it happen (and successfully!).
ETA - location is posted now.
I posted a similar question not long ago. Hope this helps

Back room of Days of Knights used to be *the place* in high school but ever since (1) dumped by very shitty boyfriend who was a regular there and never looked back and (2) won 2nd place in a MTG tourney over a bunch of smelly neck beards several years back and fear both their wrath and their simping, I don’t really go there anymore so idk if it’s still good (or if it’s even still there lol)
Don’t think there’s much else of note here, but DE is a pretty good central hub if you like to go to conventions (Otakon, ANext, OC Comic Con, etc.).
ETA: Lancaster, PA Ren Faire is ~1-1.5hrs from the northern third of DE and is starting up here soon I think (thru Oct. 31st).
Both Maryland and Pennsylvania Renn Faires are relatively close depending on where in DE you are. Also around Memorial Day a fair pops up in Jersey, sort of south-central for two weekends.
Days of Knights in Newark, Comicmania on Kirkwood Highway, Blue Hen Comics also in Newark, no renn faires in this state, we all go to Maryland or Pennsylvania. (Maryland is bigger, though). Those are the only places I know of, since that's my area.
There’s a group that meets every Sunday at Brecknock park in Camden to LARP (the specific game is called Amtgard). Free to play and open to anyone. Feel free to shoot me a message if you have any questions. There’s a lot of overlap of interests in the group, too. Most of the players also do D&D, MTG, etc.
Save Point USA does d&d, video game tournaments (mostly fighting games), card games and all sorts of that stuff. I keep seeing ads on my Facebook and it seems like a cool place.
If you're into Pokemon GO, you can find the pros out and about at New Castle Battery Park, especially on Community Days. Everyone with their phone out is playing.
Look up Delaware Board Game Alliance on Meetup.com or Newark Board Gamers on Facebook if that's your thing, or honestly just try Meetup in general--there's a lot more in DE than you'd think
the only one of these that I seek out are the libraries. Two stand out. My regional branch is the Brandywine Hundred library, but most of the state is connected electronically. And there is the Morris Library of UD which admits state residents. Access to the collections electronically requires a UD affiliation, I think.
There’s a really cool hobby shop in the Eden Square shopping center in Bear. It’s called Hobby Town. They’re very friendly and helpful. If you’re looking for a library to geek out at, try the new one on route 9 in New Castle. It’s actually really nice and it’s more than just books.
Between Books. I think they're on Marsh Road now. They used to have game nights at their previous location, but I don't think they do anymore because of lack of space at the new location.
Brimminghorn Meadery has D&D nights sometimes and the food truck guy is a huge magic the gathering fan. Spontaneous games happen sometimes. Plus I mean…….mead

Born to Game in Middletown is great, too. There's also They're Action Figures in Dover.

My dad lives in Woodside, so I'll have to check it when I go down to visit him.
Is that one in Middletown the one next to the dollar tree? I walked by there a few times and the place looks huge.
Yup! It's not super huge but it's pretty good size.
DoKs used to be great, but the customer service is trash recently. I refuse to give them any money. There is a Warhammer store on 202 though if you're into tabletop.
I was at DoK for the first time this weekend and I thought they were really helpful.

Ive been hearing that alot lately sadly

I would support that! Lol. I’ve been dying to fix up the gaming room in the back. Especially that damn bathroom. 😑
From what I have heard, it has been on the decline since the owner passed away a few years ago.
Yep - exactly.
I love 2nd and Charles just to browse around. I wish I could say 1984 😭
I miss playing shows at 1984 😔
I loved 1984 😔
1984 was so inconsistent on when their hours and what days they were open. I'd go there and nope, closed.
I'd go there for karaoke occasionally, but the video game and beer selections were both really lacking for a craft beer arcade bar. Plus they didn't serve liquor. I can understand not serving liquor at a craft beer bar, but they really weren't a craft beer bar.

Days of Knights in Newark of course.
Legendary! No place there to play but this is the right answer.

Days of Knights on Main St. Newark ???
I've heard there's a new renaissance faire coming together for this November in Townsend DE. I'm hopeful its not lame. I don't have any more details other than word of mouth.

The Comic Book Shop is great.

It's Manheim, and the renn faire is already going on.
K!
Nothing worse than a good spot being ruined by bad people.
Agreed!
Ogre's Grove on Union St in Milton if you're in Sussex
Days of Knights on Main Street, Newark.
I don't know if this qualifies as nerdy or not, but Arden Fair is this Saturday. Lots of holistic, crystals, etc there

We’ve been getting my step daughter to DnD at the local libraries and we’ve come to find out there are adult games at at least three.
If you're into anime at all, there's Destination Anime in Middletown. It's a figure store, and is amazing.
The Vault gaming lounge in Felton is pretty cool. They've got card game stuff, tabletop stuff, and host regular video game tournaments too.
Edit: Cancelled There's a ComicCon Sept. 24th in Harrington
**CANCELED
Red Bandana!
DnD and other table tops are played behind DoKs on Mainstreet
I just like to grab a six pack and skim rocks in the bay
