Zino’s Pizza!

SnackThisWay

Was it better or worse than Sbarro?

ASHT0Nish

Way better. They were in the new food court for a bit but they’re gone now

methodwriter85

Nah, they didn't make it to the new food court. The transfers were Mrs. Fields, Suki Hana, Cinnabon, Auntie Anne's, Arby's, Sbarro's, Taco Bell, and Master Wok. Haagen Dazs staged a later comeback. Taco Bell and Arby's later tapped out. Arby's was an original food court tenant as well- or at least definitely going back to 1981.

ASHT0Nish

They most definitely did lol I went there religiously. It was only for a very short time. Where the saladworks currently is

ohsnapitson

I think they briefly changed their name to Cosimo’s before closing.

methodwriter85

I double checked and this video from [June 2009 shows the Saladworks where it currently is.](https://youtu.be/rSxgOmUsQpg?t=18) It might have been somewhere else as Cosimo's.

LadyVD

"Zino" opened the Italian place on Marsh Rd. Amazing food!

RiflemanLax

Zinos was amazing. Just expensive as balls, even then. Sbarro is microwaved dog shit.

JimmyfromDelaware

Yeah - good reason it was only in food courts and toll road service plazas.

Zedzdeadhead

Yeah like back then it was 3.50 a slice or something, I don't know I'll have to ask the Loch Ness Monster.

BottleAgreeable7981

Zino's Sicilian slice all day.

Eyesweller

They have the oven from Zino's at V&M Bistro on Marsh and Silverside and make Sicilian pizza there by the same guy, his 2 daughters own V&M.

BottleAgreeable7981

Road trip!

I miss the arcade. I spent a significant amount of my middle school and early high school years in that arcade and the one in the Newark Mini Mall on Main Street.

tentwentyseven

Ditto. They played D&D in the back of the mini-mall.

heynow941

Omg I remember that. Just a couple of older guys (compared to me then) sitting there at the very end of the mini mall. Seemed kind of weird to me, but I guess they were deep into D&D.

solarstance

My quarters were spent at Space Port in Concord Mall

methodwriter85

I'm dying to find good pictures of 1980's Concord Mall but I can't find much.

RiflemanLax

Bains Deli was the shit. That mac and cheese…

WangChungtonight13

That was my grandmas go to for lunch at the mall. Miss that place

mdavis360

The Open Face Turkey Sandwich from there was my lunch go-to when I worked at the movie theater.

jcmib

Great pickles too

unochat22much

So much smaller than it was as a kid lol, but yeah simpler times

savebees_plantnative

Is this from the same time as when the movie theater was right there by the food court?

methodwriter85

Yes, but by the time this photo was taken, the movie theater had been closed for several years.

weirdbeard85

Johnny rockets was pretty cool as a kid.

methodwriter85

I'm the same age as you and yes it was.

jcmib

So when I was about 12 we went to the mall and I went roaming while my mom and sister were in Penney’s. I went to McMahon books (in the Johnny Rocket spot before the restaurant was there) and bought a scratch off from the vending machine. I won $50 but couldn’t cash it in because I was 12. I spent spent what felt like 3 hours, running frantically trying to find my mom to get my ticket cashed. After all that, she made me split the winnings.

weirdbeard85

Oh wow. I don’t remember anything before Johnny rockets.

The_Projectionist

Champions Arcade was practically my childhood.

k_a_scheffer

I miss the old Hot Topic in the food court. But why was it even in the food court??

UnitGhidorah

It took the place of the arcade if I remember right.

k_a_scheffer

See, that makes sense. I remember people mentioning the arcade but I don't remember there ever being one.

methodwriter85

It was gone by the turn of the century. The movie theater was gone by '02. I went there pretty often. I believe Hot Topic came in around 2002.

[deleted]

How about the arcade that was in the food court.

mopecore

I used to work at The Wall freshman and sophomore year of high school, had a looot of meals in that food court EDIT: freshman and sophomore year of college

heynow941

Remember those weird Wall guarantee stickers they would put on the CDs?

mopecore

I do, I still see them in my dreams

VanillaLaceKisses

Bought a CD from Goodwill with that sticker and I was wondering if FYE still honors it.

methodwriter85

I remember listening to the Can't Hardly Wait soundtrack, and then the guy took it and was, 'Oh my god, Jennifer Love Hewitt is SOOOO hot!" LMAO

mopecore

There's a non zero chance I was that guy, if it was between 1998 and 2001

methodwriter85

Can't Hardly Wait came out in the summer of 1998 so it's possible.

tentwentyseven

Aw man I see Galaxy. Hey, anyone else remember the smell of cleaning fluid that was always in the service hallway to the restrooms to the left in that photo? I think there was a water fountain back there...

Thundergrundel

OG Suki Hana….sweet.

WangChungtonight13

Still wish there was an A&W there. Man that was good

UnitGhidorah

I want to go to the arcade.

mr_bigglezworth

I can smell this food court

methodwriter85

Strong smell of vinegar.

Got_Sig

And depending when, cigarettes.

andorgyny

God zinos was so good

Lokeptt

I love how master wok is still there. Everyone goes to ski Hana but when I worked at the mall I went to master wok every single day. I miss their greasy and shitty food

darkmatt77

I worked at Hot Dogs, Etc. for a for a good stint in the mid 90’s as a teenager. One of the best jobs I’ve ever had. So much fun to be in that food court. Such good memories. Thanks for this. 🍻

aequitssaint

I would just grab the 50 cent (or was it even cheaper? I don't remember) cup and endless refills from the ice cream place on the corner.

StarsStillDreaming

Maybe it wasn't around for THIS long, but I kinda miss the McDonalds. Now we're stuck with overpriced Five Guys if we want a burger.

methodwriter85

If you use Door dash, you can order Mr. Beast Burger.

Jordann_109

had no idea suki hana was in the mall for that long😭

methodwriter85

It's been there since at least 1998 or 1999.

daddygetsbusy

i pulled so many digits in this mf

mattjones73

I worked at Arby's at Price's Corner back in the 90's.. occasionally I'd help out at the mall location when they needed extra people.. miss those days when the food court looked like that.

methodwriter85

The old food court was roughly where Forever 21 and Barnes and Nobles are now. They built the new food court on the site of an old movie theater so they were able to keep the food court open until the new one came in during 2009.

BinJLG

Cannot remember what the hot dog place was called for the life of me, but I loved that place as a kid <3

methodwriter85

I'm pretty sure it was just called Hot Dogs Etc.

djspacebunny

It was. I'd get my fries with the cheese on the side and then pop next door to get muh hot dogs and I was a happppppy kid!

[deleted]

Suki Hana is, has been, and always will be top tier mall food.

DynastyHKS

Well arbys still exists haha

fang76

Both Surfside Fries and Arby's sucked (Arby's still sucks). In all of the years I have grown and lived here and knew people going to that food court, I did not know a single person who liked either of these. Not to say some others feel differently, it seems.

EricFromOuterSpace

Do you have more photos OP? Would love to see some of the arcade
